URBANGARDE frontman Temma Matsunaga dives headfirst into temptation in his newly-released music video “Blood, Semen, Death”, with seductive young actress Ami Tomite (Anti-Porno, Joshiko) pulling the strings.

Matsunaga chose to hold back the second half of the video because of its “R18″ graphic content, but it will be available in full to fans who purchase the limited-edition CD/DVD of his self-titled album when it’s released July 26.

URBANGARDE will release their first live album Urbangarde 2016 Xmas Special Hall Live Tenshi De Akuma (“Angel and Devil”) on April 12, 2017.  The regular CD version will contain the complete concert audio and a live performance DVD, while a limited-press lower-price version will showcase selected concert tracks.

URBANGARDE's one-man holiday concert, recorded at Shibuya Ward Culture Center on December 17, 2016, was divided into “devil” and “angel” segments, culminating in an audience vote to see which side won the night. When the devils were announced as victorious, the hall was bathed in red lights for the final songs. Their single “Akumade Akuma” ("Devils Forever"), the band’s first non-album music release in over four years, was released the following month in January 2017.

Both editions of Urbangarde 2016 Xmas Special Hall Live Tenshi De Akuma feature the band’s trademark polka-dot symbols, connecting to their upcoming 10th Anniversary celebration coming up this May.

URBANGARDE leader, songwriter, and frontman Temma Matsunaga also recently announced his first solo live concert titled “Blood, Semen, and Death” scheduled for June 18 at Shinjuku JAM.

URBANGARDE has announced a collaboration with popular Japanese photographer Yuki Aoyama, known internationally for his provocative “Schoolgirl Complex” photobook series. The special collection of photos and poems titled “Schoolgirl Trauma” combines the edgy view of the “trauma techno pop” music group with Aoyama’s fetish-focused work.

URBANGARDE leader Temma Matsunaga contributed writings and vocalist Yoko Hamasaki posed in sailor fuku schoolgirl outfits, ball-joint stockings, and multiple accessories to illustrate the writings through Aoyama’s lens. “Schoolgirl Trauma” will be available August 19, with a special pre-release event scheduled on August 5 at URBANGARDE’s two-man live show with famous Japanese comedian and singer Takashi Fujii, star of “Matthew’s Best Hit TV”, whose song “Oh My Juliet!” was produced by Tommy February6 and featured in the 2006 film Babel.

URBANGARDE has also announced the "2016 Short Goodbye" tour, featuring their first visit to Taiwan. The band will visit multiple regions of Japan throughout October and finish in Shibuya's WWW live house on November 5.

Just one month after the release of their alternate-future album Showa 90, URBANGARDE members have revealed even more artistic projects for the start of 2016.

URBANGARDE vocalist Yoko Hamasaki will release her first book of prose titled Bara Iro No Jinsei (“Rose-Colored Life”) on February 23, 2016. The book will collect her essays from Tokyo’s Rooftop magazine, with topics of her personal past from her youth leading to her experiences with URBANGARDE.

Yoko speaks candidly in 40 essays, some written specifically for this edition, about her love for classical ballet, her childhood belief in Santa Claus, traumas from her personal life, and her fascination with mysteries and ghosts. Bara Iro No Jinsei will also chronicle the history of URBANGARDE from her unique point of view and a selection of exclusive photos.

URBANGARDE’s co-vocalist Temma Matsunaga recently starred in an episode of NHK BS Premium’s Edogawa Rampo Tanpenshu, an anthology series featuring the works of noted Japanese mystery writer Edogawa Rampo. Temma stars alongside Hikari Mitsushima (Gomen ne Seishun!, Moteki, Woman) in a story about a bookstore murder. Temma recently released his own book, Jisatsushatachi (“Selfie People”), a compilation of short stories, essays, and poems about the dark sides of modern life in Tokyo.

URBANGARDE is currently touring Japan in support of Showa 90, with stops in all major cities planned through May 2016.
