My Immortal Enemy was founded just early last year in 2019. The band's one year mark is approaching and what better way than celebrating than by releasing the band's debut album titled "Akuma". The band's styling is a mixture of metal and rock, think of acts such as Avenged Sevenfold, AFI, My Chemical Romance or even Beartooth. Frontman and vocalist Steven Juliano who also fronted previous acts I Am Ghost, Requiem, Requiem for the Dead, among others, fronts and vocalizes this band as well. Find out all of the details as to what happened to his past bands and what the plans of this band turn out to be for their one year timing that is now 2020 and the release of their debut album!

1. First things first, is My Immortal Enemy it's own entity not just a name change to the previous bands that came before it Requiem For The Dead/Requiem?

Steve: Yea, it's a completely new monster, although we have members from those previous bands you mentioned. The biggest thing we realized when writing this new album was it was sounding completely different than what we'd had been writing before. This was a much angrier album. Much angrier.

2. What ended up happening to those bands you were in prior?

Steve: Nothing really happened, per say. Requiem for the Dead was never a serious project. We never toured. We just put out music ourselves, like literally recorded everything in our living room and put it out for free. I don't think we sold any music. We just gave it away. We'd play local shows here and there. That was about it. REQUIEM on the other hand was basically a re-carnation of "Requiem for the Dead". More polished I guess, because it had management and agents and a label behind it. We did a few tours with REQUIEM. We put out a full-length CD on Cleopatra Records. It was a fun band. But, we started recording new demos after that CD was out and felt the stuff that we were coming up with, the new stuff that is, was an angry beast and was unlike anything we'd done in the past.

3. How would you say that this band is completely different to Requiem/Requiem For The Dead/I Am Ghost?

Steve: It's the angriest album I've ever written. I mean, you can get down to the nitty-gritty details, and yes, it has similarities with I Am Ghost for sure, but you will always have that cuz my voice is pretty recognizable. I am not saying I'm some great singer, just that my voice is unlike 'most' singers in our genre. So, whatever I do musically always gets compared to I Am Ghost. Doesn't matter what. I could write an all ska album and people would still say; "Dude, sounds a little like I Am Ghost, huh?"

4. Would you say perhaps that this band, whilst being different was aiming to be a "2.0" of those previous bands or for it to stand it's own ground as it's own thing.

Steve: Yea, you can say that. I've been in bands since I was 18 years old and after you do anything for twenty plus years you start to find things you like and don't like... and you stay away from the things you don't like and stay with the things you dig. Basically, I've just learned a lot with all my past experiences writing and recording music. We didn't have a producer on this album. Yes, we tracked it all at a real studio, had a real engineer mix it, but all the songs are 100% us. And I am really proud of that.

5. You went on to release a handful of the tracks as singles but went with "Dangerous" as the main choice for a music video how come?

Steve: I think it was because it was the weirdest song on the album. Ha ha ha. It's the angriest/catchiest song on the album and there is no intro... it just kicks the shit out of you immediately.... and doesn't stop. No soft bridges. No interlude. Just a 3 and a half minute punk rock song. I dig it's simplicity, really.

6. In My Immortal Enemy and the other acts that came before, a female vocal presence is heard throughout but physical member was but is no more, what happened?

Steve: With life, you learn there isn't much you can do but keep adapting to your surroundings, and of course, keep moving forward when things that are out of your control happen. With "the girl" in the band, we finished the album and began gearing up for shows, and it was like, for her: "I am quitting music. I am getting married. I am moving away. Goodbye." and we were like, "Ok?" But, what can you do? We just gotta keep moving forward. She's doing what's best for her. We are doing what's best for the band.

7. What makes you think that My Immortal Enemy will be here to stay and not end up calling it quits as the other bands you were in had done?

Steve: No band is here to stay. Except maybe The Rolling Stones. Sixty plus years is it? No, most bands have a five year cycle. If that. That is just a fact. Some bands get lucky of course and go ten or twenty plus years, but never with the original line up. It's a lot cut and pasting new people to stay together. Will MIE last? I have no idea. But that's not a concern of mine. It never has been with music.

8. With the release of your debut album "Akuma" coming out during the start of this New Year next year, how do you plan on celebrating?

Steve: No rest for the wicked, right? We took off some time for the November/December holidays, but we are all back not in rehearsal. We are hoping to just play as many shows as we can this year.

9. Does the band have any shows and or touring lined up?

Steve: None that are "confirmed". But, stay tuned. Things always change quick.

10. Why go with a band name like My Immortal Enemy, who is the "My" in the namesake.

Steve: We all have a "Immortal Enemy" per say. Anything that can't ever die, so not necessarily a person. It's more like, you know: alcohol. Or drugs. Or depression. "MY" is each person's enemy they have to deal with in life. Everyone got an Immortal Enemy they gotta deal with in their life. Anyone who says they don't is a liar.

I Am Ghost, a little act that went away far too soon, but in the likes of things, have come back sort of.... The band got together back in 2004, got signed with Epitaph Records in 2005 all the way through 2010, releasing an EP "We Are Always Searching" (2005), two full-lengths "Lover's Requiem" (2006), and "Those We Leave Behind" (2008), and a live album "Live in Orange County" (2009); when they would then split up in the summer of 2010. Since then, the band has tried to do a farewell showcase of some kind, trying to do one in 2011, but it couldn't come about, until now. Five years later that showcase is indeed happening, with the spring time announcement occurring this past April 28, 2016, that the band had reunited and would indeed be doing a showcase, a reunion of sorts, farewell show, with so much more in-store of course! Frontman vocalist Steven Juliano or "Steve" took the time to discuss the reunion, new music possibilities, and this showcase that may or may not lead to further activity from I Am Ghost.

1. Are they back yet?

Steve: Not too sure what that question means, (laughs) but for this one show we are definitely back. It's already sold out so we are super excited!

2. You tried doing a comeback show, back on April 16th 2011. But that failed to occur, what was going to happen at that showcase in comparison to this comeback showcase? Would you say that the line-up was going to be the same, or back then it would have had this person or that person etc

Steven: When that show was put on, and tickets went on sale, the break up was still pretty fresh. Everyone agreed to return for a final show, but a few weeks into it a few members rethought it, and decided not to attend. I will be honest, I was pretty upset, but I refused to play in a "final show" with fill-in players. That is just not fair to the fans. It was either all past I Am Ghost members or no show at all. I know a lot of bands nowadays that do "reunion shows" and it's basically just the singer and maybe one guitarist, and the rest are just hired guns. I have always hated that.

3. What had happened to the April 2011 showcase, that failed to allow it to happen?

Steve: Well, it was a long time ago, and I'd rather not say. All I can say  is we are completely different people now. We've all matured, grown up, done other things in our lives, and I think that really helped. We are better friends now than we ever were when I Am Ghost was touring. I think time does heal all wounds, and sometimes you just need to step back and let the air clear. I love these guys like brothers. I missed them.

4. Word has it, that I Am Ghost is writing and recording new material, will you be releasing said material the day of your comeback show?

Steve: Yup, all I can say now is we will be releasing a new track before the show. I don't know the exact date but its being recorded as we speak.

5. Will you be performing any of said new material in the I Am Ghost setlist at this showcase?

Steve: Probably not. We want to play the oldies and goodies for the fans. It would be cool to do a new song, but we have three albums worth of music to play that night.

6. Why did you want to do this showcase with opening acts, as opposed to allowing to having only yourselves doing an all nighter, of a 1-3 hour set?

Steve: Well, the venue (Chain Reaction) wanted at least two openers for the night. If you know the venue, they always have local support even for the big tours. We also felt a two or three-hour set is very much an overkill. Even kids whom absolutely love us would get a bit bored with 3 hours of IAG music! We are going to play a good long set, and all the bands opening are really good!

7. If you did not have openers, would you have done an all night, perhaps performing your entire catalog from front to back, from first release to last release?

Steve: No, that was never going to be an option. All our music is fast, intense... if we were a mellow jam band or a simple rock band then maybe that would be possible. But I can't even imagine playing 3 hours of straight IAG songs. I think I'd die of a heart attack.

8. Did you ever think that this showcase was going to be sold out? Since it is, will you be doing anything extra "special"?

Steve:  I think we all pretty much knew it would sell out... not to be cocky, but we always had a great fan base in Anaheim. I guess the "extra special thing" is we are actually doing this show. Ha ha ha. This idea was a back and forth thing for the past three years. Every time I was free to do a "reunion show" the other members were gone on tour with their other bands. Then when they were free I was on tour with my band Requiem. Some members got married. Some have had kids. It's not just about "hey, wanna play a show?" and bam its book. It's just not that easy. You have to coordinate with the venue, we have to coordinate with practicing. I live 8 hours away, so I have to plan on that as well.

9. When it comes to the appearance, I Am Ghost was always known for the nicely dressed get-up for photo shoots and performances, will you be strutting your stuff once more, dressing up as you did before?

Steve: I think that is a definite yes. After all these years, I think it would suck if we just walked on stage in street clothes. We all know I've never been a fan of that.

10. Which line-up will be in full force for this show?

Steve: It is everyone except for Brian and Kerrith. Ryan Seaman (Falling In Reverse) will be there if he's not on tour with his band. But it's 100% Ronnie, Justin, Gabe, Timmy, Chad, and myself.

11. You asked the fans to help out with picking out songs to be put into a setlist, so has a setlist been put together?

Steve: Yup! It's all set up.

12. If I Am Ghost were to do another show, would you think that show, may showcase the other projects the other members are involved with play alongside them?

Steve: Probably not. I can't speak for the other members, but playing two sets in one night is kind of a pain in the ass. And right now, there is not another show planned so that's where we are at right now.

13, While you made the announcement of your retirement from music, and your doing this show, does that mean the retirement still stands and you won't be doing music or if you do only certain shows here and there or is it undecided?

Steve: Yes, I am definitely retired. If you see me playing a show, it might be an IAG show, but for any past bands or even new projects, that is not an option for me anymore. I've been playing in touring bands since I was 18 years old. Touring or playing again -- besides with IAG -- just doesn't excite me anymore. Some people in bands don't get it, but I have a lot of other passions.

14. What does the future hold for I Am Ghost, what are the plans if any past this showcase?

Steve: There really isn't any "future" for IAG. This is all about the October 22nd show in Anaheim. If something does happen, then it happens. But we are not planning on anything as of now. But understand, things do change. After this interview comes out we might get an email with some great offer we can't refuse. You can't count out anything in life. But for now, we just want everyone to have a good time at this show and remember all the good stuff we did.

15. Anything else you'd like to say or want to add on?

Steve: I think we are all good! Thanks for the interview!

I Am Ghost who did their thing from 2005 through 2010, who released an EP "We Are Always Searching" (2005), two full-length albums "Lover's Requiem" (2006) and "Those We Leave Behind" (2008) as well as a live album "Live in Orange County" (2009). But in 2010 the band announced it's break-up indicating that "the band had matured and grown up". So since then the members have moved onto other projects and activities. But something's happened, various mentions have been posted upon social media, including most recent activity indicating a "special announcement" including photos to be said on April 29th 2016. Check it out below and await the details!

Requiem has announced it's disbandment due to the frontman vocalist Steven Juliano retiring from music, giving the following message upon his personal Facebook page -

"How do I go about writing the toughest post in my entire life?

I knew this day would come. As all things in life, everything must come to an end sometime. Yet, you never really know when that moment will hit you. Sometimes it's like some old ache in your knees, and you feel it coming for years and years, and other times it suddenly just hits you; like being sucker punched in the back of the head.

For me, it was some fat boxer named, "Time".

I would rather not do some profound, long gobbledygook tale of my life. Most of you well know I've been singing since I was eight years old doing musical theater. And for the past twenty years of my life, I have been doing this "band thing". Well, the time has come to close that door for good. Not just spouting rubbish, like I am no longer doing Requiem. No, there is more to it.

I am completely retiring from music.

It feels strange saying that since I'm not "that" old, although old-age is figurative, depending on who you ask. Huh, go figure.

I lived out my dreams. Saw the world. Met so many amazing people that it honestly still blows my noggin. I look back on what I did with what I had, and can't believe it all really happened... and it all flew by like some big, epic blur. Music was life. And I am grateful for the retrospection.

I am now starting a new chapter as a professional writer. As a regular guy with a regular job who looks very regular if you saw him walk past you. You probably wouldn't think twice he is so... regular. But the memories will always be there swirling inside my dome. Oh, you can never forget this kind of stuff... no-sir-reeeee!

And what a wonderful dream it all was. I still pinch myself. Yup, it was real alright.

Holy moly was it real.

Love,
Steven Juliano

Thank you: Monsta Zero, Fall Out, The Silence, I Am Ghost, Requiem for the Dead, and Requiem"

I Am Ghost who broke-up in 2010, have been making posts upon an I Am Ghost Facebook page, even having frontman vocalist Steven Juliano and drummer Justin McCarthy making posts upon their own personal pages. Drummer Justin McCarthy went on to say "Keep your eyes open for more news this year". So it looks like these guys have returned after all. Expect to hear more as it becomes available.

Requiem for the Dead fronted by former frontman of the goth heavy rockers I Am Ghost, Steven Juliano, one of the other members guitarist/programming TY posted the following message on the band's Facebook page;

"Hello everyone, Ty here.

As of yesterday, I have officially parted ways with RFTD. It was a long time coming as over the months creatively it's been a rough ride, with mostly conflict and disagreements over the style and direction of the new material we were working on. It got to a point where it was just not working anymore, and I had to let go. It's not anyone's fault, just simply what had worked before was no longer functioning in a healthy productive manner.

I'm 100% proud of the debut "Always and Forever" and the amazingly warm reception everyone has given it in the year since it's release. Especially since it was Steve's post I Am Ghost output, and quite different from the sound his fans were used to. Many of you had become very interactive with me personally and I thank you for your support and positivity. It always made me smile and feel appreciated. Thanks to all of you who came out to the few shows we did, I always had a blast on stage.

Those of you who want to keep up with me and see what's next, you know where to find me.

Thanks,

Ty"

So Requiem for the Dead will have to find a new replacement in the upcoming future.

"Thanks for the memories" is the best way to describe what artist and musician Steven Juliano has been through, over the course of his musical and artistic career. The man has done so much being in numerous bands from his early work in The Silence, Fallout, to Monsta Zero to later being best known as the frontman to his previous act as of two years ago I Am Ghost. When asked if his previous bands would seen the light of day ever again if be even for one night he responded "To be honest, probably not. Those were amazing times of my life. All I have our great memories of those bands.... "

The past  has now dispersed  so looking ahead towards the present and oncoming future, Juliano has focused on his brand new band Requiem For The Dead and artistic talents with the recent successful release of his graphic novelization of a tale entitled "Lovers and Kings". He says that this tale can be described as this; "It's a very dark fantasy/horror novel with a lot of twists and more gobbity goo.  The best way to describe it is somewhat in the vein of Pans Labyrinth meets the movie Seven."

When in question about his band Requiem For The Dead and what they have been up to as of late, Juliano says that they are in pre-production mode which they never did for their debut album it was a fast paced fun time overall. But this time around we thought about doing it a little better by taking our sweet time on the songs and recording. Not being signed nor do they bother to care this band just go with the flow when it comes to creating music.

Discussion goes further into detail about the new album, how music affects his everyday life, to the unexplained beginning's of the untold future.

1. For those who do not know who you are tell me in 5 words.

Steven: Five words? Wow, that's indeed a tough one. How about: "Hi, I am Steven Juliano...." They can Google me if they need more info.

2. Can you give me a brief summary as to what your graphic novel "Lovers and Kings" is about?

Steven: It's a very dark fantasy/horror novel with a lot of twists and more gobbity goo.  The best way to describe it is somewhat in the vein of Pans Labyrinth meets the movie Seven. You know, the fucked up film with Brad Pitt. The novel takes place in 1916 worn torn France during height of World War One. It follows the lives of children living in the town whom begin to see things coming out of their forest and moors....

3. How does it make you feel that your novel has hit the scene far and wide what have the fans and critics said of it?

Steven: It is amazing how a writer and artist such as myself can do something this big, and then get it out to the masses with little trouble. My book is in stores everywhere now, including all the online/apps stores such as iPad, Kindle Fire, Nook, Barnes and Nobles online, Graphically and more. I wrote/drew the entire book, so it's a labor of love. So far, the reviews have been stellar. I have not seen anything bad what so ever.

4. Where in the recording process are you and when can we expect to see this album to be released?

Steve: Well, right now, my band Requiem for the Dead is currently in pre production mode. We never did it for our first release. We just wrote music we liked and then just recorded it. There was no picking apart the songs what so ever. It was a fast paced, fun time. But this time around, we thought about doing it a little better by taking our sweet time on the recording and the songs. We are not signed, nor do we care to be signed. We just meet up when we feel like it, write songs, and then talk about it. We change things, make the songs shorter, sometimes longer... sometimes we change entire chorus's and re write them. Pre production is the key. We are just having a good ol' time with the songs.

5. Do you have any ideas as to what the debut single off the new album will be? Will that also become the next music video as well or will that be a whole another song completely?

Steven: I am already having a favorite, but from my experience, it can all change when we start doing the real recording. Sometimes, another song just comes out of left field and hits me hard. It sounds "ok" in demo format, but suddenly we start arranging it in real recording time, adding violins, cellos, synth and it just turns into this huge, awesome monster. So right now, I am not exactly sure. We are definitely shooting another music video, I just don't know for which song yet.

6. When did you start writing for this album? How was the songwriting process different/similar to the previous Requiem For The Dead album?

Steven: We started to write it around January 2012, I believe. I could be wrong. It started off very slow, but was partly my fault in a way. I was away in Los Angeles at least once every two weeks flying back and forth working on films and doing things with my graphic novel. It was super swamped and couldn't really do much band wise. Ty Oliver kinda kept everything a float by writing song after song... and then sending them to me via email. Bobby Burns, our other guitarist wrote a song on the album as well, which is keen. It's been a good mix. The only difference really from this album from the last is that we are not rushing the recording. Again, we are kinda sitting back and listening to the songs, re working them, re recording them in demo format, then listening again.

7. What are your songs about? What specific themes do they cover?

Steven: There is no theme, per say. I think this album is more of me talking about my life and all the things I did right, did wrong, or didn't do at all. We all have regrets. Yet we all have good memories of our past, I think. The album is going to be called "Memories" so it kinda explains it all.

8. Are you using any new instrumentation you've never used in the recording process before?

Steven: We are using a lot more orchestra it seems in this new album. We didn't have Bobby Burns on our first album, so the orchestra was kinda low key. We had friends in Southern California do the orchestras for us, which were minimal. Bobby is a very good piano player and has a great set up at his home with synth and keyboards and sounds... so we are using that to our advantage .

9. Did the band have any definitive goals they were shooting for before the recording process began for this album?

Steven: Not really. I think we all talked about it a little, and the only think that came up was it has to be better than the last. That's what all musicians hope for. You hope you progress and get better with time and that your next CD is bigger and better than the last. It doesn't always work, but we try... and we hope.

10. How would you describe the overall sound of the new album? How does it compare to "Always and Forever"?

Steven: This is a harder album by far. Its more aggressive for sure, yet we do have our moments of slow pop rock. To be honest, I am just not into this "Wrar Wrar Chug Chug" music that every mother fucker is doing. I can care less if people think we are hardcore, or punk. It really never affected me even with my last band, I Am Ghost. We had plenty of opportunity to go hella dark and hardcore screaming, but we stuck to our guns and did the music we liked. That's what we are doing now...

11. Did you feel any pressure to follow it up?

Steven: No, not really. Of course I want this new CD to be good. I want people to like it. If a band says they don't care what people think are fucking liars. But pressure wise, I think we are fine and don't have much. We live in care free Santa Cruz. Everyone is so relaxed here its kinda insane...

12. Can you go into one or two tracks on the new album? If so, can you give us the track title and brief description of how the track sounds and how it came about?

Steven: Well, one song that is pretty much finished does not have a name yet. But, it's pretty fun to listen to. Again, we got a little more aggressive with our guitar playing this time around, yet kept the chorus's insanely catchy. The song is my love letter to a girl I once knew... talking to her directly saying "Look, we were madly in love, we are to this day inner twined forever, but god damn it, the two of us together was so pathetic..." It's not trying to be mean, it's just saying that after thinking long and hard about the relationship, it really was not healthy and its best we just stay close friends. But nothing more.

13. Why did you want to release your first and upcoming for free? Do you ever think back that it wasn't such a good idea?

Steven: To be honest, it was an amazing idea. No one buys rock music anymore. No one buys CDs. Who are we kidding? Plus, we could care less about making money on this band. Not to toot our own horns, but everyone in the band does very well on their own financially so we just put it out for free. And, we are going to do it again with our new release. It will be available for free just like the first!

14. Which of your own songs is your favorite out of all of the projects past and present that you've been a part of?

Steven: There is a special place in my heart for the song "This is Home" by I Am Ghost. Sometimes that song comes on when I'm working out or drawing, and I always find myself singing along to it. Plus, the guitar solo at the end of the song is so god damn bad ass. It is just an all around amazing fucking song....

15. Speaking of past projects, "The Silence", "Fallout", "Monsta Zero" and "I Am Ghost" do you ever see any of these acts returning to the stage? Would you consider doing a showcase with these acts and Requiem for the Dead even if it were for one night?

Steven: To be honest, probably not. Those were amazing times of my life. All I have our great memories of those bands.... especially the earlier ones like Fallout and The Silence. We are just so god damn young, and there was just something about being young and in a band and just playing cuz you like music. There was no labels, no management.... just five dudes in a garage playing their heart out. I don't see us ever reuniting, even for one night, cuz it won't be the same. It can't be. Time has passed, and those are just memories now....

16. Are you in good terms with the former members of these acts or has everyone gone their own ways?

Steven: I am friends with all my past bands except for the last band I was in with I Am Ghost. What a fucking storm of great memories mixed in with utter misery. It's insane. I think about the times I had with that band, and it's like a 50/50 "Oh, that was a fun time" to "Oh man, I hated that time..." It had NOTHING against the former members as people, to be honest. They are all swell dudes. I just really, REALLY, hated touring. Never liked it. I was also insane, to a degree, and handled things badly on my end. But, mix it with a major label, money, the firing of three managers, and endless array of booking agents that fucked up most of our tours... I just one day had it. I quit the band out of the blue and pissed off everyone that was a part of the band, and friends of the band. Everyone took sides, and being the fact that I was the odd man out, the guy who left everyone, they went one way, and I went the other. But I had to do it. I just had to let go....

17. Do you miss being a part of those bands or are they dead to you?

Steven: I miss the good songs we wrote with I Am Ghost. Not to hype myself or the band, but that band was seriously ahead of its time. I listen to the songs we wrote and sometimes just think, "Jesus Christ, we were fucking sick!" I don't miss the touring. I don't miss the inner turmoil of the band. I just miss the music. I also miss the fans who were so amazing to us.

18. What was your life like before you started playing music?

Steven: Sitting in a room working on films, doing animation, and working 15 hour days... literally. I would leave for work at 6AM and come home around 11pm every single night. It's the reason why I started bands, it was my only time to escape and play with my buds and get away from work. We built a studio in my garage so I could make practice after I got home from work... then it kinda all just snow balled from there.

19. What has music meant to you in your life?

Steven: It has given me so many god damn good stories to tell my grandchildren.... that's for sure...

20. What’s the best part of being a performer for you?

Steven: I have always liked entertaining people. Ever since I was nine years old doing musicals... it just makes me happy to perform.

21. Describe your happiest feelings…

Steven: So many.... the newest one was when I got my first book mailed to me hot off the press. I opened the box, opened my graphic novel, and started to look through all the pages and got kinda teary eyed....

22. …and your saddest ones.

Steve: Any time a family member or good friend passes away. The older you get, the more you start to see these things, which hurt a lot.

23. Imagine you’ve always wanted to re-work a line in a song, and you are now getting the chance to - what would your improved lyrics be?

Steven: Hmmmm.... maybe "So taste it, and you will never be a clone, I'll have the first bite, yea I love toooooooassst!!!!" (Pretty People Never Lie)

24. Vinyl records, cassettes, CDs or downloads? (regardless of current popularity)

Steven: Ugh, man, it's hard. I prefer CDs still. I just like it that I can still just get a CD and pop it in my car and listen to it. There is no sitting there downloading it and transferring it to my iPod and blah blah blah.

25. Playing live or recording in studios?

Steven: Playing live, but not touring. Just like a show here or there is fine. But sitting in a bus or a van for hours upon hours... sometimes days, is not my cup o tea.

26. Your favorite show that you played to this day is which and why?

Steven: Honestly, it was YEARS ago, but my band Fallout played the Glass House in Pomona with band such as Sum 41, River Fenix and more... and we played in the middle slot. Sum 41 was not even famous yet, and no one heard of them, and they opened the show and played before us. It was my first ever 900 person show and the crowd just went ape shit the entire 30 minutes we played. I don't even think they really knew who we were, but they were moshing and dancing and crowd surfing and I just remember walking off stage going "Holy fuck that was awesome!"

27. Is this the longest interview you have ever done if so what is one word to describe it as?

Steven: No, I have had longer interviews.... but I love doing them. It's fun.... if I understand the questions. Sometimes people try to be sassy and funny and are like "If you could be a tree, what kind of tree would you be...?" and I just stare back going "Are you fucking kidding me?"

Former frontman Steven Juliano of I Am Ghost (RIP) and Requiem for the Dead has been hard at work writing, illustrating, and creating his all new graphic novel "Lover and Kings: Book One" set for a 2012 release. You can check out the official website and connect via Facebook as well as also with him via his Facebook page and Requiem for the Dead's Facebook page as well. Check out a teaser clip the third in the teaser clip series below. Also don't forget to see his band play some showcases within the upcoming weeks and months.

One year ago former I Am Ghost frontman Steven Juliano fronted Epitaph Record's most talked about bands over the course of their 6 year career. During which they got signed to Epitaph one year after their formation, got their jump start from their EP 'We Are Always Searching" which sprung three studio albums 2006's "Lovers' Requiem", 2008’s "Those We Leave Behind", and 2009's "LIVE in Orange County". Things were running in accordance to the band's success factor and everything they had gained would soon be lost. One year after their live LP was released in 2009, Juliano would break the news of the band's departure. According to him he says that the band had matured and grown up. The things that I Am Ghost preserved once before had lost its grip upon him and his band mates and things just weren't cutting it so everything just had to be let go.

Thus the end of I Am Ghost was put to rest and the birth of music was envisioned again with a whole another project, Requiem For The Dead (RFTD) is Steven Juliano (vocals), TY Oliver (guitar and programming), and Fin Stobbe (bassist). The name had come to Juliano late one night and he wanted to use it to represent the remembrance of his past, of the people and love he received that were no longer there and he thought right then and there that it just fit so well he went with it. Influence taken in account for RFTD was put into effect one whole year before I Am Ghost had called it quits. During I Am Ghost's European tour they had been gone for three months and during that time Juliano had lapsed into an illness and from then on he became depressed and angered by all who came near him. He disliked being this way with a passion and after returning home some time was spent to think things through and RFTD was brought in and everything was put into effect for the time being. After some time off I Am Ghost toured once more then everything ended and that weight was lifted off Juliano's shoulders. Terms with the band are far behind him. Now that RFTD is within his grasp this band takes the music focus and lets the band go at their own pace doing something they love and want to create.

When the announcement of Juliano’s return to the music scene after taking some time to breath fans of I Am Ghost were ecstatic to have a listen and see what all the buzz was all about. Over a course of a few months’ hints and guesses were tossed about while more information was being said the band went onto release several demos of various recordings on the band’s Facebook page and then shot and later released a music video and now the approach of their full-length debut LP “Always and Forever” is growing ever so nearer.
“Always and Forever”, will hit the downloadable waves on the net on September 2, giving fans the chance to grab it for 100% free on the band’s website www.requiemforthedead.com. But when it comes down to the album altogether it’s broken down into being nothing like I Am Ghost whatsoever. But embraces a uniqueness all its own. As such, the album has a split personality meeting the raw intensity that is taking sound qualities of acts like Falling In Reverse meets modern day Goth rockers The Birthday Massacre. The emotion is there and keeps the music pulsing from start to finish which makes the music that more enjoyable to listen in on, over and over again.

"The Death Note of Shipwrecks", “I'm No Angel", 'The Misadventure of Coffin Kid 2", and 'Kill or be Killed", really preserve the essence that indicates the real powerful passion that RFTD is and who they pursue to be. These songs alone take in hand a band with talent and uniqueness that can't be overlooked. Embracing it with the dreading passed that will cease to exist.

Fans of Falling In Reverse, The Birthday Massacre, Black Veil Brides, Escape The Fate, Aiden, and William Control will find Requiem For The Dead to their liking with ease of appeal.

Former I Am Ghost frontman Steven Juliano debuted his new project Requiem For The Dead earlier this year which has lead a mighty following since. Besides that Requiem For The Dead has just premiered their brand new music video for the song, "The Death Note of Shipwrecks" streaming on their Facebook and Youtube page. Two words to describe the new and improved Steven Julaino is "Powerfully epic".

Steven Juliano best known for his role of being the main frontman for his former act I Am Ghost has been working on a brand new project Requiem For The Dead. Since the band’s formation they have released several singles "Kill Or Be Killed", "Act One: The Terrible Tale Of Two", and "Those Lovely Shark People" while also releasing a minute teaser of another upcoming single titled "The Death Note of Shipwrecks". Requiem For The Dead will be releasing their debut full-length "Always and Forever" on September 2, and the entire album will be available for download for free via their Facebook page. Also the band's first music video will debut also on their Facebook page on August 1st! A commercial for “Always and Forever” was released and has since been removed!

Former I Am Ghost frontman Steven Juliano has been up to quite a bit since his best known act bit the dust as of 2010. But as the saying goes "when one door closes another one opens" and that saying goes well with his brand new music project Requiem For The Dead. While this project was indeed in the making process while Juliano was still involved with I Am Ghost, he felt that his former project had matured and had needed to part ways from one another.

Demanding a reunion show from the band's legion of fans the band was to get together for one last time but failed to do so due to complications, thus only the memories of his once beloved act would now only slumber in the afterlife. Moving on Requiem For The Dead was actually an idea based on I Am Ghost's previous albums "Lover's Requiem" (2006) and "Those We Leave Behind" (2008) having taken those tales and encrypting them into a tale all its own that would live on forever or at least until Juliano say things fit. In any case Juliano and the rest of his band mates have been hard at work finishing up the touches on the band's debut album "Always and Forever" and just finished filing a music video.

Not only is Juliano in the process of releasing his own book, "Lovers and Kings" which showcases his artistic talents, but he is the one who went and designed the album artwork which can be seen below. Requiem For The Dead is the ongoing future and all that was in the past is dead and gone.

Always and Forever Album Artwork

Before I Am Ghost was ever created lead vocalist Steven Juliano had prior projects tucked away that not many people were even aware of.... He sang in a gothic rock band The Silence, and this ska band Fall Out, as well as another side project Monsta Zero. If it wasn't for any of these projects then I Am Ghost would cease to exist but that time has arisen as well for I Am Ghost has been laid to rest as of 2010. Now that the past is far behind him Steven has a whole another project hidden up his sleeve, Requiem For The Dead. But before discussion of any future circumstances comes into focus, The Silence has to be briefly discussed. Juliano's gothic rock band The Silence was what I Am Ghost was envisioned to be and what lead to several album releases and music videos in its discography.

But The Silence didn’t last as long as they had wanted to and since the band’s departure Juliano has released a number of demos that are free for download and from what I’ve listened to I can commence that The Silence is indeed a envisioning of what I Am Ghost once was. It possesses the same use of guitar structure, same vocal tactics, along with everything else The Silence is exactly what I Am Ghost was except I think The Silence possessed a much darker approach.

What can be expected from Juliano in the upcoming future? Well from what has been said, Requiem For the Dead is on the horizon and brand new material will arisen come 2011 will it be anything like his previous works? Will it live up to what I Am Ghost was or will it fail as all the rest had done? Only time will tell.

Founded and fronted by Steven Juliano since the journey began in 2004 heavy metal rock n' rollers I AM GHOST brought the power and energy that was embedded within their hearts and souls of wanting to play and write music. By doing this the band went on to get signed by Epitaph Records and went on to releasing an EP "We Are Always Searching”, (2005) and later released two full-length albums "Lovers' Requiem", (2006) and "Those We Leave Behind" (2008). A year after their second full-length release the band had performed a special live showcase in which they would recorded their first ever live album entitled "LIVE In Orange County" (2009). In between all of these release were of course the videos, "Civil War and Isolation Thirst", (2005) "Our Friend Lazarus Sleeps", (2006) and "Saddest Story Never Told" (2009). With the success of all of these various releases and countless touring all over the world, there was nothing that stood between I AM GHOST's ways and abilities with music. Except one thing... maturity according to Juliano whose recent posting announced the band's break-up. Juliano stated the following;

GOODBYE....

“Say goodbye… thank you for what you have given me.”

To all our fans,

Sometimes you just know. It’s hard to comprehend; no one can really pin point that exact moment when you know it’s just right. There was really nothing more we ever wanted then to write music. That was it. Nothing more and indeed nothing less. It started in a garage in 2005 and three shows later gave birth to some twisted juggernaut called I Am Ghost.

We never knew what the future would entail. The band was just six people against the world, with nothing to prove and really everything to gain. We had our fare share of doubters and non believers- most of whom didn’t even know any of us. But, we kept moving forward. We said “fuck you” to the local scene and tried our best to be true to ourselves and to our fans. I Am Ghost had never sold out; we had always done what we believed was right. Many times we were told by the people above to write more hardcore, scream more- “oh, you need more breakdowns in your songs”- but we didn’t listen. We never wanted to play that. I Am Ghost was something more we believed…

So, with endless touring and a thousand new faces we had met after five years, I saw the music scene change. Not good or bad; just changed. But we kept fighting the good fight. Our fans came and supported us throughout the entire world. The cities, states and countries we have seen have been tattood to the back of our heads and will be with us to the day we all die. All of us have seen things that have made us better people. And for that I thank God that I Am Ghost was around in my life. The band saved my life more than a few times; and its best to note that we have in fact saved a few of your lives out there as well.

And, sometimes you just know. It’s hard to comprehend; but when it finally hits you like some out of control boxer- you have to feel the pain, really feel it, and take a step back and just say “goodbye, I have had enough”. Today is that day. I Am Ghost is no more.

I wish it was something crazier. I wish it was the fact that I hated everyone in the band, or that we had no more music to give. But, in reality, it’s nothing like that. I love everyone in I Am Ghost: Timmy, Ronnie, Justin and Chad are my brothers. I would step in front of a fucking train for them, and they would do the same for me.

The fact is, we have grown up. I am not the same guy I was five years ago; none of us are. And for me, new doors have been open for the next chapter in my life. The same goes for the rest of the members. We gave the good fight and toured through rain, sleet, hail, snow and with broken and bruised bones. Members came and went, but again, I thank God I met those people. To the past members: Kerith, Brian, Ryan, Gabe and Victor- we could NOT have done any of this without you.

The hardest thing to deal with is the fans. We are going to miss you more than life. You were our lives, and we traveled this fucking world to play for you. No one else. Only you. Seeing your faces and hearing your beautiful voices singing along with us is the only reason we kept on going. Without you there was really no reason to play. We were the body but you all were in fact the life blood that made I Am Ghost real.

Thank you to our managers, Yogi and Devin, for believing in us. Thank you to Brett and everyone at Epitaph Records for taking us under their wings and watching us grow. It was an honor, indeed. Thanks to all the bands we toured with in the past…and most importantly, thanks to everyone who came to our shows and rocked out with us. We will NEVER forget those days…. ever.

Love always,

Steven, Timmy, Justin, Ronnie and Chad
