Seven years to their namesake, Ruins Of Elysium have released three full-length album's to date, including their most newest and recent calling "Amphitrite: Ancient Sanctuary In The Sea". An array assortment of 12-tracks that span of what is said to be eight different languages. The assortment of languages includes; English, Chinese, Latin, Spanish, Japanese, Portuguese, Hindi and more. As the band puts it, it is simply a round the world like trip from the comfort of your ear sockets. 

Tenor being the styling of vocalization provided from Ruins Of Elysium's frontman Drake Chrisdensen, where his styling takes on a classical approach, with a vocal range that intertwines the countertenor and baritone voice types. In short, it is one of the highest voice types for a male vocalist to perform. Drake here does flawlessly, combining not just good tenor stylistics but with the genre choices of epic symphonic metal, this album brings forth the likes of folk metal as well as some Celtic folk as well as traditional metal. It combines an ethnic element from not just vocal chords but the instrumentals too, as they are used to contemplate to numerous cultures and folklore's from across the globe. 

Very much all of this can be heard within the first couple of tracks including opening track “Alexiel An Epic Lovestory”, following up with “Queen of The Seven Seas”, and then “Belladonna”. Each play well into one another. Vocalization provided is done quite well, whilst the instrumentation is superb and catching. Some portions provide a rather fast paced effort, whereas other parts keep a steady beat that keeps the music together, but has it sink in making it sound gripping yet soaring at times.

Other notable tracks off this release likely consist of such as “”Atlas”, Book Of Seals”, and “Cathedral Of Cascades”. These resemble such an epic presence that is purely majestic yet heavy through and through. It is the sound that Ruins Of Elysium has always been able to craft and create since their forming so long ago. This album is merely a treat for many in all shape and form of its creation. 

If an epic tale of adventure is what you seek within the form of music; then perhaps seeking the likes of Ruins Of Elysium is for you. Otherwise this band is without a doubt one that will not be forgotten but cherished and remembered for many years to come.

The tenor of epic symphonic metal that is Ruins of Elysium, released their EP "Daphne" just last year in 2016. Sometime later they returned to writing and recording for the follow-up release, an album titled "Seeds Of Chaos And Serenity". This album would release a single off it called "Serpentarius". That said, this single and album as a whole, is indeed what they called their genre choice, that is tenor of the epic symphonic metal. But it is in fact done by not a full fledge band but a trio. Yes a trio act, that really captures the essence that is the symphonic metal genre.

The first single for one, really captures the formula that was included on the previous EP "Daphne". While the rest of this new album "Seeds Of Chaos And Serenity", is a more expanded experience from this single. It takes the trio band of just again three members, and really brings it full circle.  Like other tracks off this album that really make this release, such an experience would be opener "Lama Sutra", as well as other tracks including "Shadow of the Colossus". But it doesn't end there, the rest of the tracks fit in just fine, but the wrap-up of this album, say tracks 7 through 11, really bring out that experience ever so further. How so? Well these track selections for one, tell a story, literally each of these has a part to it, part 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5. How these all tie together is really something else on its own. The music is really captivating, while the vocal chords just blend so well, it makes it all move along that it's never ending. It ends up being one of those albums, that you think it will end after that last track, but you find yourself wanting it not to end.

The "Daphne" EP was an interesting formula in itself, but the album "Seeds Of Chaos And Serenity", is an expansion of the EP and single as said before. There is just so much more to this album, it has that magic to it, the discovery feeling, of you enjoying the music as it's flowing along. That you may just not look or hear, any other symphonic metal act out there. Ruins Of Elysium is something totally different and unique and really captures their own style well, and it is displayed really well right here.

Symphonic metal can be sorted into a variety of formulas, for one instance take the likes of Ruins Of Elysium, with their latest EP release "Daphne". This release takes what other acts have not attempted much of, using male vocals, solely relying on classical male vocals that is rarely done on these scenarios. That said, this release consists of 8-tracks, including a remixed version of a track called "Prince". The rest of the EP features the title track which opens up the album, having you the listener be drawn in, rather instantly. While the rest of the EP, has such tracks as "No You're Not", "Crusader", and "Meadows of Elysium", which go hand in hand with one another, having each other sound a lot like the title track, but more energetic, ear catching, having the melodies, vocals, and instruments working well together. The music being a soothing but entertaining experience. When it comes down to it, Ruins Of Elysium's "Daphne" is a solid release, that steps away from the typical aspect, of the symphonic metal genre, having their own twist on it, making their style be more enlightened and modern.
