Denver, Colorado thrash maniacs HAVOK have announced the addition of bassist Nick Schendzielos (Job For A Cowboy, Cephalic Carnage) after parting ways with Mike Leon. Leon, who spent two years with HAVOK and appeared on the band's 2013 release.

Unnatural Selection, will be joining metal icons SOULFLY on their upcoming North American tour. HAVOK vocalist/guitarist David Sanchez comments on Mike's departure, "Mike is an amazing musician and rock-solid performer! I would like to thank him for lending his talent to the band for two years. I will always love the music he writes and appreciate his abilities."

The newly indoctrinated Schendzielos will record bass on HAVOK's upcoming fourth studio album and take part in the band's upcoming North American headlining tour. The bassist said this about joining the band, "I'm incredibly excited to be working with Havok. Been friends with the dudes forever, always have a blast with 'em, and now I get to thrash with 'em! I have big shoes to fill...Mike is a really, really solid player, but I think my playing style will mix in really well and fans will dig it. The new music is by far the coolest Havok I've ever heard. Can't wait to release it!"

"Nick's skills are documented, go check it out yourselves. He's a guy that's well respected amongst our peers and loved by his friends and band mates. It was an obvious choice to get him for the record and upcoming tour," said lead guitarist Reece Scruggs of his new bandmate.

With work on the new album, their first on Century Media Records, nearing completion, HAVOK is gearing up for a massive North American headlining tour. The month long trek will see HAVOK performing material off the as-of-yet-untitled album so fans will get an early preview of what promises to be the band's most intense effort to date. HAVOK will be joined by a rotating lineup of support acts, which include BLACK BREATH, WITCHAVEN, PSYCHOSOMATIC, BLACK FAST and EXTINCTION A.D. David Sanchez comments, "This tour is full of neck-wreckers and we're proud to have such heavy bands sharing the road with us.  Every band on this tour absolutely kills live.  For fans of real metal, this tour is not to be missed."

Cadaveria has announced that they have a new bass player with the following statement;

"We are very pleased to announce Peter Dayton as CADAVERIA new bass player. Peter‘s musical tastes and artistic roots come from Swedish Death Metal and Symphonic Black Metal. He has a long experience in the extreme music panorama as bassist of Enough to Kill and Necrodeath, where he is known as GL. Besides his talent and his maturity as musician, the main reason that led us to let him join our group is the fact he is really into CADAVERIA mood and he is truly motivated to enter our shadows’ realm as a steady member of the band. As CADAVERIA tradition wants, the band members names deal with the characters of David Lynch’s filmography. Peter Dayton comes from the Lost Highways to join CADAVERIA’s path. Welcome Peter!"

Bullet for my Valentine have announced who the replacement for longtime previous bassist Jason James is and it's Jamie Mathias. The band had parted ways with long time bassist Jason James earlier in the year. Expect to see Jamie Mathias on the road with the group soon as well as on the band's upcoming fifth full-length album due out August 14th entitled "Venom".

Deftones' bassist Chi Cheng has passed away at age 42. His family has released a statement on a charity website made in dedication of his memory, OneLoveForChi.com:

“Our dearest Family,

This is the hardest thing to write to you. Your love and heart and devotion to Chi was unconditional and amazing. I know that you will always remember him as a giant of a man on stage with a heart for every one of you. He was taken to the emegency room and at 3 am today his heart just suddenly stopped. He left this world with me singing songs he liked in his ear.

He fought the good fight.You stood by him sending love daily. He knew that he was very loved and never alone. I will write more later. I will be going through the oneloveforchi and any other information may not be reliable. If you have any stories or messages to share please send them to the onelove site. Please hold Mae and Ming and the siblings and especially Chi’s son, Gabriel in your prayers. It is so hard to let go.

Cheng was injured in an automobile accident in 2008, when his vehicle flipped three times after hitting another car going 60 MPH. Cheng was in the passenger seat and wasn't wearing a seatbelt, causing him to eject from the vehicle. The accident left Cheng in a several-year coma.

Cheng passed away last night at 3 AM. Our thoughts go out to the family, friends and fans of Cheng.

San Diego, Californian's who will be taking part in this year's Scream It Like You Mean It Tour have just posted a message on their Facebook page informing everyone that bassist Marc has decided to leave the group.

"It sucks to post this but to inform everyone, our brother and bassist Marc has decided that life on the road isnt for him and is going to heading back to college. His last show with the band will be on Friday in San Diego so we need our hometown out there sending him off in style! Were obviously bummed but we know he made the best decision possible for him. Our good friends Matt Scarpelli and Michael Owens will be filling in on bass duties for the rest of the shows on Scream It Like You Mean it and we're stoked to have them out with us! Its definitely sad seeing him, we'll miss him a lot!"

KITTIE is pleased to announce the return of bassist Trish Doan to the band following the departure of Ivy Vujic. Doan was previously with the band from 2005-2007, appearing on the band's 2007 release "Funeral for Yesterday."

Ivy adds her own words, "After four amazing years of jamming with my crazy metal sisters, I am officially resigning. After a lot of touring and two albums, I feel it is time for me to move on. There are still other things for me to do in my life. Although I will always appreciate Kittie and the amazing fans we have, it does not fit my plans right now."

Trish will join the band live after their upcoming SOUNDWAVE FESTIVAL appearance in Australia and upcoming hometown shows later this month are completed. Doan comments,

"I am very happy to be reunited with the Kittie family. The girls and I have remained close friends over the last 7 years and I am excited to have this amazing opportunity. I am looking forward to seeing everyone when we go back on the road this spring. I wish Ivy all the best!"

The band is excited to do one more batch of live dates with Ivy as it gives fans a prime opportunity to come out and say their goodbyes. "Ivy has been friend and partner in crime for over 4 years, we love and respect her wishes to depart from the band and move onto another phase in her life." says front woman Morgan Lander.

KITTIE will hit the road this spring in continued support of their latest release. Morgan concludes, "Trish has been a member of our extended family since she joined the band in 2005 and we are welcoming her back into the band with open arms. We are ecstatic that she will be returning to bass duties and are looking forward to the tour this spring! We love both girls and are glad that we all remain friends, first and foremost."

A Falling In Reverse fansite claiming to have a direct twitter message from frontman Ronnie Radke himself says that they have "fired" their bass player Mika because "he doesn't know how to tune his bass and he's an asshole". Who will become his replacement? Well truth be told Radke and Max Green of Escape The Fate Radke's former band are best friends and are talks about allowing Green to join in so who knows what will become of this or even happen next!

California metallers The Human Abstract have broken up and bassist Henry Selva sheds some light on what him and the other members are currently up too.

“Fuck. How can I put this?

It was hard enough answering fan question while I was working for Protest the Hero. Folks, we are not looking for a new vocalist. We are not touring anytime soon. I think it’s only fair you guys know that we’re on “break or hiatus if you will.” I don’t know why we haven’t said anything. I guess it’s because there is always that “maybe if something happens, etc..etc…” Or maybe it’s hard for us to realize the reality of our situation, the bands situation, to finally let go. I’ll be honest when I say the folllowing: Periphery and Never Say Die were our last tours together as a band.

It was amazing experience while it lasted. Dean is going back to USC to further his education. AJ, as you know will always continue writing and teaching. Brett, I am sure has something up his sleeve.

Thank you to everyone who came out to show their love for the band and the music. I’m proud to say that I got to perform and record along side such amazing musicians.

Bassist Jonathan Miller of Santa Barbara, California metallers DEVILDRIVER has released the following statement:

"I just wanted to thank all of the DEVILDRIVER fans around the world for their die-hard love and support for the past nine years.

"Yesterday, I decided to leave DEVILDRIVER. It was the most difficult decision of my life but it is something that I needed to do for myself.

"I had the best times of my life hanging out with all of you guys, but it is time for me to move on.

"Much love to everyone."

In December 2010, Miller announced that "the drugs and alcohol" "finally caught up" with him after spending the bulk of the last decade on the road with DEVILDRIVER. He added that "the damage [was] catching up with [him] mentally and physically" and that he was going to enter "an intense rehabilitation program" in January "in order for [him] to reclaim [his] health and the person who [he] once was." He also stressed that he needed "to make a change so that [he could] save [his] own life and keep the friends that [he] still [had] left."

Filling in for Miller on the road with DEVILDRIVER for the past few months has been the band's tour manager, Bubble (a.k.a. Aaron Patrick), who has previously played with BURY YOUR DEAD.

In a February 2011 interview with Rock Radio's Tom Russell, DEVILDRIVER frontman Dez Fafara stated about Miller's health issues, "Jon's getting himself well at this point and we hope to have him join the fold, happy and healthy and back with us."

He continued, "Aaron Patrick has played around fifty to sixty shows with us. He's doing a great job, the fans have really taken to him and understand what's happening with Jon, and that Jon needs to get himself better, and you don't want your friends passing away on the road. So let's get him well, shall we?"

"Beast", the fifth album from DEVILDRIVER, sold a little over 11,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 42 on The Billboard 200 chart. Released on February 22 via Roadrunner Records, the CD was recorded at Sonic Ranch studios in Tornillo, Texas with producer Mark Lewis (TRIVIUM, CHIMAIRA, ALL THAT REMAINS) and was mixed by acclaimed British producer Andy Sneap (MEGADETH, EXODUS, MACHINE HEAD, NEVERMORE, ARCH ENEMY) at his Backstage studio in Derbyshire, England. The band recorded 14 songs during the "Beast" sessions, with 12 tracks making the standard version of the CD and all 14 songs appearing on the special edition.
