Elane Hershey's Speaks Out About Her Bondage Adventures

Model and producer Elane Hershey has been involved within the bondage community for quite sometime now. Since getting her act together doing what she loves she's interacted with a wide range of other models and actors, actresses who can really strut their stuff in the whole BDSM/SM scene itself. Elane best known for her huge knockers and loud mouth gets what's coming to her when she always gets tied up and gagged tight! Miss Elane Hershey herself, discusses with me, her time within this unique yet creative community, on her bondage filled adventures and what they unfold....

1. Introduce yourself, and tell me what role you portray in the bondage community.

Elane: I Elane Hershey and I'm a model/producer of classy bondage videos.

2. Please tell us about the history of being involved within the bondage industry?

Elane: I went to a bondage event called Bondcon in NY, the last year they had it there, I think it was around 2003. I met a guy there that became Ivan Boulder.  This was my first for many things.  He introduced me to David Knight and Juliet Heart.  My first professional video was with them and people really liked this video. I was introduced to Grit by a model friend, Julie Simone and Grit explained how the bondage modeling thing worked.  He introduced me to other models and I wanted to do this modeling thing myself because I love bondage. I then met Steve Villa that actually set me up with a website called Tie Her Ass Up.  I was also a regular model on his website, Girl Next Door Bondage.  From there, I had a Clips4sale store that I still have. Now I have my own website, Elane Hershey Bondage with XSiteablity.

3. How would you describe your style?

Elane: My style is classy bondage. The girls are always made to feel beautiful but bound and gagged.  I don't like the degradation of women.  What influenced your style? I would see the beautiful women on TV, that were bound and gagged and I always wanted to be that woman.

4. Where are you based out of and what is the bondage scene like there? Are there any local bondage enthusiasts you could recommend?

Elane: I'm in South West Virginia and I try to keep my profession quiet because of repercussions for me and my family.  I did belong to a BDSM community here and the people were very nice but they were more into the S/M part and I am not a pain girl.

5. What could one expect from a Elane Hershey show?

Elane: Exciting captures, tight bondage and great gags.

6. You have been known to get gagged, quite well, in various ways, why did you think that being gagged was the right choice?

Elane: It just happened. Since I was 5, I always loved not being able to yell for help, like the women on TV. There was something very exciting about this.  I have had about every gag you can imagine and when I go to a convention and the vendor has a display of gags, I'm like a kid in a candy store. In my videos, the gagging of the girl is ALWAYS up close and on Screen because it's my favorite part of bondage.

7. What are your expectations from being involved within this community?

Elane: I am very well known to many models and producers and I have great connections to working with new models coming into this line of business.

8. You have starred and directed a lot of the videos you've worked on, what made you want to take on both roles?

Elane: My friend Grit was the one that told me I need to have other girls in my videos besides myself.  I was offended at first, thinking it's all about me but I quickly found out that variety is the spice of life...and it is.  I was always someone's model and then I started thinking, I should be the one making money and have models work for me. I know what I want to see and what better job than to be the producer.  I hire the best models that are fun to work with and I have fun.

9. Can you tell me about the man who's involved with you in this video, what's his name, how long have you known him, and what role does he play in this particular scene.

Elane: His name is Ivan Boulder and and I love being tied up by him.  He is a big man that had a strong and sensual way of tying and gagging me.  I was very much in his control and I enjoyed every minute of this video.  He is the one I met at Bondcon in the beginning.  He would do the tying in my early videos with other models and he is an expert at his craft.  I want to be taped up in this video but I have to remind myself during the shoot that I'm the Damsel in Distress so it comes across as a damsel being taken by someone, I'm out of control and in his control.

10. There has also been another man involved with a lot of the videos you've done, he's known to wear the wrist or arm band, what's his name, how long have you known him, and what role does he portrays?

Elane: His name is Steve Villa and he was a very big influence in my bondage life. I've known him since about 2004.  He is always the bad guy that binds and gags the girl.  I especially liked the the videos with him that implied sexual acts that were simulated only but they always looked hot on video.

11. You've worked with a variety of different people but who would be the dream person you'd like to work with overall?

Elane: I've actually worked with everyone that I have had a dream to work with.  I have been so fortunate. I would love to work with some models from the old Harmony videos and make them look vintage.

12. Sorry if this is too personal, but why did you want to have the breast size that you do? How big are your breasts and are those all natural or surgery types? What advantages do they bring to the video aspect?

Elane: Well, my breast are usually exposed in most video I do so it's no problem to talk about.  My breast are natural and they are size 42DDD.  I love having them tied up.  Each person that ties them up, has their own style of doing it.  Women are usually the best when it comes to tying them up...don't know why but they are. Men always love to see big boobs and when they're tied, to bondage people, it can be a turn on to see how tight and restricting it can get.

13. Out of all of the bondage gags, ties, scenes, etc. That you've been involved with, which would you say is your favorite and why? Which one of these is one that you'd just "HAVE" to try?

Elane: I really like to be bound and gagged and then forced to do some sexual act (simulated only) but I've done them all.

14. Which role do you prefer playing the submissive or dominant role and why?

Elane: I definitely prefer to be submissive.  I don't have a dominant bone in my body and it's very difficult for me to play the bad guy.  However, I will play that role to the best of my ability for the video.

15. What got you into bondage to begin with, what was your first reaction to first witnessing it, is it about it that really draws you into it?

Elane: When I was about 5 years old, I was at a babysitter's house and she had two sons. It had snowed and the boys had snow forts on each side of the yard. I was with one of the boys and I tried to yell to the other to help me but the boy I was with clamped his glove over my mouth and held me so I couldn't talk or get away.  That was my earliest memory of loving bondage.  I really didn't know what it was but I knew I liked that feeling.  I loved Superman TV shows where Lois Lane would always get gagged. OK, well I loved it when anyone would be gagged on the show.  As I grew older, I noticed I was terribly drawn to gag noises on TV.  I would pass by a TV in my home and if I heard the mmmpphhh, I would almost stop in my tracks to see.  But I couldn't let anyone know I had this interest.  My whole life, I thought I was sick or something until I got a computer and realized there were many other people like me.  There was a whole Bondage world out there and I was going to be a part of that.

16. What plans do you have for the future?

Elane: I will continue to model and produce bondage videos for as long as I possibly can.

17. Where can we check out your work and buy your stuff?

Elane: ElaneHershey.com, http://clips4sale.com/4001, and you can always get in touch with me at Fetlife.com.

18. Any final words of wisdom?

Elane: I've always had a passion for bondage.  I'm so fortunate that I was able to enjoy my passion before I got too old.  My job is what I love, who could ask for anything more as far as a job goes. I have so many fans and friends in this bondage community, they make me feel like the "Queen".

I will mention that bondage is like a sexual pleasure for me.  I only enjoy it if it's with someone I trust. It's the consensual role play that I love. If this situation happened in real life and it's against the woman's will, it would be a horrible experience and those people should be put in jail. If I'm watching a video and I think someone is in pain or I think this girl is really being hurt, it's a turnoff for me immediately and I will stop watching the video.  I would NEVER condone this type of behavior.

Deadstar Assembly's Dro Discusses Band's Progress with Adorned In Thorns!

Industrial metal goth rockers Deadstar Assembly come from the South.... South Florida that is and since their formation way back when they have released material and toured all over and now they will continue to trek on with their upcoming release "Adorned In Thorns". The Dro the guy behind the pyro and subsonic tremors discusses the band's progress of this all new release and plans they have in-store from here on out!

1. Introduce yourself, tell me what you do in Deadstar Assembly, and how long the band has been together.

Dro: I'm the bass player for Deadstar Assembly, The Dro.  Believe it or not, We've been together since 2002 but Deadstar Assembly originated from a collaboration of our singer, Dearborn, and Miami Techno Producer Luis Duran in 2001. It's crazy to think how long it's been. Time flys!

2. How did the band get the name, Deadstar Assembly and does it have a meaning behind it?

Dro: Dearborn came up with the name before any of us joined the band. Legend has it that he used to walk the streets of miami while recording the first CD and constantly found himself stepping over all the passed out drunken douchebags in Sean John gear, drenched in vomit. These are the people who hang out at the nightclubs pretending they're stars of some sort, throwing money around as if they had an endless supply to impress the bikini clad spring breaker clones. Moreso, an assembly of dead stars. People who will keep pretending to be something their not, and rarely move forward. Doesn't seem like they're ever going to with those nightly plans of self destruction. Thus the origin of Deadstar Assembly's name.

3. How would you describe your style? Which bands influenced your music?

Dro: A lot of people like to compare us to bands like Marilyn Manson, NIN, and Orgy. It may be because of the way we look. Then again, Manson was Compared to Kiss back in the day even though their music was nothing like them.

Each member in the band is influenced by different types of music. However, we all love old school 80's metal. Usually before hitting the stage, we're blasting bands like Rammstein, Motley Crue, or other high energy bands to get the juices flowing.

We generally fall under the Industrial/Metal/Goth Rock Genre.

4. Where are you in the recording process of the new album?

Dro: We're currently finishing up Dearborns Vocals. Most of the stuff is already completed. It's been a bit of a long process because we've decided to do most of the recording ourselves. It was a small learning curve on the vocal end, since we've always recorded vocals at a pro studio. We're planning on playing some of the new songs at our upcoming concert in NY to show off some of the stuff we're working on. We've only played one of the new songs live so far and that was during Winter NAMM 2013 at Bar Sinister. We performed "Blame it on the Devil" and it was the first time anyone outside of the immediate band ever got a chance to hear it.

5. Did the band have any definitive goals they were shooting for before the recording process began for this album?

Dro: We just wanted to make sure this was going to be a CD that stayed true to our style. A lot of bands take the growing process as an excuse to release their shitty music. We've decided to step it up a notch. We're all learning a lot when it comes to recording and it's definitely going to show this time around. The songs create this killer feeling when you're listening to them and it gets your heart pumping along with a side of goosebumps!

6. Are you using any new instrumentation you've never used in the recording process before?

Dro: We had some issues with one of our old sponsors after they were taken over with new management. We had an artist rep that was an amazing person and always took care of us whenever we needed something. In return, we did everything in our power to show how much we appreciated it and they loved everything we were doing at the time. They ignored many of our emails as we tried to reach out to them this time around and in turn, we received an awesome offer we couldn't refuse from Schecter Guitars. They have this bad ass tone in all of their instruments and the guitars and bass sounds so thick on these new recordings. Also, we're using the Blue Baby Bottle and the Robbie for the first time to record vocals. Other than that, we have a slew of new sounds we've created electronically for this CD.

7. How is the vibe in the studio going for everybody?

Dro: It's very laid back. The studio is like going over you're best friends house and just hanging out. A lot of the main ideas came from our home recordings and then they get tightened up during our weekly studio meetups. Being able to record at home gives you all the time in the world to just fuck around and not be constrained to a paid time limit that you have in a pro studio.

8. When did you start writing for this album? How was the songwriting process different/similar to previous Deadstar Assembly albums?

Dro: Some of the song riffs came from Dreggs just messing around on stage during sound check while we were touring. We decided we should turn some of those riffs into new songs and since we ended up having a lot of down time last year, we began recording from home and throwing ideas around until we finally had some awesome blueprints to work from. The songwriting process was different because now all of us have the ability to record from home instead of having to wait to meet at the studio to record an idea.

9. Who produced Adorned In Thorns and what was it like working with them?

Dro: We did have Jeremy Staska work on some of it but for the most part it's been Dearborn producing the album. Jeremy is the same producer who worked with us on Unsaved and Coat of Arms.

10. Who did the cover art for Adorned In Thorns and how much input did you have on it?

Dro: Dearborn does all of the graphic design art for Deadstar. I help out with the programming of the website but he's the mastermind behind all of our sick graphics since the beginning.

11. Did you feel any pressure to do a follow-up to your previous releases?

Dro: Not really. We don't like having that feeling because it kind of affects your outcome. It shows when your music is rushed and we've always found success in taking our time and putting out something that we enjoy listening to instead of just putting out new music for the sake of it.

12. Can you go into one or two tracks on the new album? If so, can you give us the track title and brief description of how the track sounds and how it came about?

Dro: A lot of the songs on the new CD are songs that smack you right in the face when they first come on. Our intro track on the CD, Brand New Fist, never gets old no matter how many times I play it back. Filth and Blame it on the Devil are going to be songs that everyone is going to request when we play a live show. We also have some lighter songs that will rival our current ballads. Enough to get the panties wet for sure!

13. When can we expect the new album to be released?

Dro: We're hoping to have it ready by the end of the year. There's no deadline on it, so we're just going to keep working on it until we're 100% happy with it. Once that part is ready, we'll send it off for mastering and put on a few bad-ass live performances to push the release of Adorned in Thorns.

14. What are your upcoming tour plans?

Dro: At the moment we're playing an awesome festival in NYC on Sept 6th. The triton festival is put together by Jet, the Creator of VampireFreaks.com. In 2010 we performed at the same festival and had a blast. A ton of great bands will be performing at this festival; London After Midnit, Psyclon 9, The Birthday Massacre, Combichrist, The Dreaming, The Cruxshadows, Assemblage 23, and many more amazing bands! The other good thing about it is that My BDay is Sept 7th so I'm sure it's going to be a huge party the whole weekend.

15. What can the fans expect to see from you in the future?

Dro: Lasers, Fire, and lots of Fog. I mean FOG... a LOT of IT!

16. Is that your final answer?

Dro: No. Anal is. It's all about the Anal. Always has been.

Gabriel Cyphre Creates His Own Version Of Music

Combining the use of electronic, dance, and shock rock Gabriel Cyphre uses these to create his own style and plans on unleashing his debut full-length very soon! He himself discusses about how he creates music and his latest single and much more he has planned for his musical career!

1. What type of band are you?

Gabriel: I am Gabriel Cyphre, a one man band, i write, compose, record, and produce my own songs.

2. Can I get a brief summary as to how the band come to be and why the name, Gabriel Cyphre?

Gabriel: It was the December 25th 2008, and I decided to give me some kind of reason to live, so I created a "character" called "Gabriel Cyphre", it's not a puppet or a mask, it's just the representation of the two faces of the world, the good and the evil, I mean, G.C. could be the deepest part inside us.

3. Why did you want this band to be a one man project?

Gabriel: Well, in the beginning it was a full band with all the components, but, since I have a very mad and sick minded, I hate when someone tell me to change something I created, you know? When you're in a band, you have to respect all the ideas of the other members, and that's not a good thing for me, because I love to express my self in any single way, and no one can tell me "I don't like the lyrics, can you change 'em a little?" and so on.

4. What are your songs about? (What specific themes do they cover?)

Gabriel: The main theme for my songs are my madness, my insane perception of life, and all the emotions that I would be afraid to tell by talking; but, I think they are the same that every human being could feel in his/her own subconscious. You know, I could ask to someone "why people keep to have children when they know that there is no reason to keep alive the human race?" But I am sure everyone could tell me that I'm insane, and they have right, but all of us are insane, one way or another. This is just a stupid example, but I hope you know what I mean.

5. Do you write your own songs? (Discuss the songwriting process in detail.)

Gabriel: Yes I write my own songs. It's very long the songwriting process. There are 3 points to write a song for me, the first, I need to know WHAT I wanna talk about, and once I decide it, I set my brain in a "writing mood", all the whole day I constantly think about the song I have to write, so when I have some good word or phrase in mind, I write it down on the notepad of my phone, once I've collect something like 50 words or phrases, I step on the third and last part for the writing process, which is to pur 'em all together and correct, delete, add rhymes, enlarge or shrink each phrase to make it sounds better. Once I finish the third part, I start to compose music for that lyric.

6. Who are your musical influences?

Gabriel: I have thousands musical influences, but lately I've been listening to "Castlevania Symphony of The Night" soundtrack, and lot of metal core bands.

7. You released a new song and single called "Children Of Madness" can you tell me about it?

Gabriel: Since I released my first album "Master Of Madness" in 13th January 2013, I decided to call all my fans as "Children of Madness", because they are the ones who love me, the ones who understand my thoughts, the new generations of human being that I "infected" with my insane thoughts and songs. So Children Of Madness is basically a song dedicated to my fans.

8. You also mentioned you're working on a new music video can you tell me about of the video's concept or theme and which song you chose?

Gabriel: Of course I am, I've been inspired so much from the story of Jesus Christ and the first character of Castlevania SOTN, both of them were the bringers of peace, and the ones who came to change the world and erase the evil things. So, since our world is turning a bad place, more and more everyday, because of the useless wars, and the global economic crisis, I just decided to create a fantastic story, which tells the ugly truth of our days, that changes in better because of a bringer of rainbow, who is a kind of a new Jesus Christ.

9. So what can you tell me about this new album?

Gabriel: My new album will be totally different from my other old works, it'll gonna be 65% metalcore, 35% gothic style, 5% dubstep. And maybe there will be some acoustic song, I can't tell too much because I just have few songs already done.

10. Why did you can to title it Rainbow On The Fallen Skylands?

Gabriel: I think, our world without problems, without the bad things, without money, and without wars, could be a kind of a paradise, just like "Pandora's world" of the "Avatar" movie, you know? that world was full of skylands, and the creatures of that planet were living in peace and loving each other; so I were imagining our world in a perfect estatic and meaning vision, just like "Pandora". So since the word "Skylands" means our world in a fantastic vision, I think that it's falling because of the bad thing that happening all around the world. But I want the listeners to remember that all the evil can triumph only if the good people do nothing, so the message I want to share with my album is to assemble every people, all the fans, every individual, to join each other as the colors that create a wonderful rainbow. That's why that title. "Rainbow on The Fallen Skylands", one day the rainbow will shine on this fallen skylands, in that day the peace will reigns supreme.

11. Is this album going to be a concept album?

Gabriel: Of course it will be.

12. Where are you in the recording process of the new album?

Gabriel: I'm actually in the old place of the world, Rome.

13. Who is producing the album? How has the producer aided the recording process?

Gabriel: There's just me and myself, the one who produce my album. I'm also a producer.

14. Where are you recording the album?

Gabriel: I have a personal studio in the middle of Rome, there is the place where i'm recording.

15. Did you have any definitive goals you were shooting for before the recording process began for this album?

Gabriel: I'm in the recording process for the new album, but in the meanwhile, I'm thinking about to record some new metalcore songs, there's nothing sure yet.

16. Are you using any new instrumentation you've never used in the recording process before?

Gabriel: Yes, I am using the sound of the harpsichords, the real guitar, that I've never used to record my old songs, and lots of orchestral sounds, and a wonderful choir.

17. When did you start writing for this album? How was the songwriting process different/similar to previous releases?

Gabriel: I've started to write my new album the day that "Master of Madness" has been released, since "Rainbow on The Fallen Skylands" is always been a dream to realize. The songwriting it's totally different from the previous releases, since I've been passed 3 months alone living in a room for the song writing for "Master of Madness" there were just me and my madness; Now I am me and myself, and I always find the other part of me when I'm in close contact to the nature, I feel like the earth, the grass, the sky, and the creatures of nature want me to write and write about the kind of a new "Jesus Christ" that I've been mentioned before with the name of "The Bringer of Rainbow". The new songwriting has nothing similar to my previous releases... I don't know, but I feel something new.

18. Did you feel any pressure whatsoever to do this release?

Gabriel: Not at all, ah.

19. Can you go into one or two tracks on the new album? If so, can you give us the track title and brief description of how the track sounds and how it came about?

Gabriel: I unfortunately can't tell anything about the tracks for the new album, because I'll be making something like thirty songs, and in the end I will chose 12 of them, the best ones, the other songs will be deleted and no one will know anything about 'em. But I'm sure, one of the songs will have a title with the word "Rainbow" in it, and it'll be coming out with the music video. I'm 90% sure!

20. How has the vibe been in the studio?

Gabriel: I am alone all the time while I'm in the studio to record and mix down the songs, so I'm totally free to experience new sounds, vocals, without being judged. If I must describe with one word the vibe when I'm in my studio it would be "Freedom".

21. When can we expect the new album to be released?

Gabriel: Well, I'm afraid to tell the releasing date, because when I will have the final product in my hands, it should be approved by an hundred companies, so the process will be long... But I think I will be done with it for the next October, and I think, I hope, the album will be available world wide for the beginning of the new year. But this was just my supposition.

22. What can the fans expect to see from you in the future?

Gabriel: Be able to professionalize with music, video, and pictures, more madness released from my mind, more metalcore. Something they have never listened before, something no one told'em. A new form of insanity.

23. Is that your final answer?

Gabriel: I'm keeping other secrets, but I won't tell you for now, so thanks Natalie, it's been a pleasure to respond to your questions. And yes, it's my final answer.

Skeletonwitch's Chance Garnette Says the Serpents Are Unleashed

Heavy metallers Skeletonwitch have been around for quite sometime and now that they're on their fifth album to date "Serpents Unleashed" there is no stopping just how far they can truly go with the music they have created. Vocalist Chance Garnette talks about the new album and how it compares, differs, and evolved from their previous releases and what plans these guys have between now the end of the year.

1. It's been 4 years since we last spoke you went on to release another full-length "Forever Abomination" can you give me a brief summary as to what that release was all about?

Chance: “Forever Abomination” is basically a statement that from album to album, year to year, Skeletonwitch will forever continue to stay true to what we do. As the lyric goes, “Forever Abomination, Forever Cold.”

2. Now 2 years later from that release you're on your fifth release entitled "Serpents Unleashed" how does this make you feel to be on album number five? Did you see yourselves lasting to this point?

Chance: I’m stoked to have 5 records under our belt. It’s an amazing feeling. This is always what I've wanted to do with my life, and I’m getting to do it. So yeah, I’m beyond stoked to be releasing our 5th album this year! Did I see us lasting this long? I like to be mindful of the future but stay focused on the here and now. I don’t really dwell on what may or may not happen down the road. I mean, I certainly didn't see us NOT lasting to record number five, but when “Beyond the Permafrost” came out I wasn't concerned with how many more records I would or wouldn't be able to make. During the next two or two and a half years I’ll be focused on “Serpents Unleashed” and supporting that album, then when the time comes I’ll shift focus to record #6. So, I’m definitely keeping the future in mind but staying focused on what is going on right now.

3. You've been a part of the Prosthetic Records family for quite some time now - your relationship with them has been good then?

Chance: Yeah, it’s great to be a part of label where you can call the main guy right up and discuss whatever is on your mind. Actually everyone there at Prosthetic is more than happy to lend a hand, talk me off the ledge, just shoot the shit, or whatever. So, yeah the relationship is good.

4. How has "Forever Abomination" differed, compared, and evolved onto "Serpents Unleashed"?

Chance: I think when you play as much as we do and love what you do then you’re sure to become better at what you do. That being said, “Serpents Unleashed” is a natural evolution from where we were then, to where we are now. Two years after “Forever Abomination” we’re just a better band.

5. You decided to call your follow-up "Serpents Unleashed" how come?

Chance: Without getting overly deep one this one… Throughout time, the serpent has stood for many different things. Some of those being: strength, knowledge, protection, of course evil, and even salvation. So basically, drawing from these qualities of the serpent, we are unleashing the absolute best Skeletonwitch record to date. 10 years since it started, we stand as “Serpents Unleashed.”

6. Will this release be a concept album?

Chance: Concept album as far as, does song #2 pick up where song #1 left off? Is each song a part of a continuing story told over the length of the album? NO, each song has its own identity, its own demons and a different story to tell.

7. Can you describe the album artwork for this album and who designed it?

Chance: John Baizley is responsible for the cover art on “Serpents Unleashed.” He also did the “Beyond the Permafrost” and “Worship the Witch EP” cover art for us as well. I believe that, musically, “Serpents Unleashed” has more depth than some of our previous releases and John’s artistic style seems to fit perfectly here. There’s meaning behind every brush stroke within this artwork. I think he nailed what we were going for. It’s a beautiful piece and we all are incredibly stoked on it.

8. Tell me about the new single off the album.

Chance: The first single released from “Serpents Unleashed” is called “Burned From Bone.” We first played this song at SXSW in Austin, TX earlier this year and have included it in the set list at every show since first debuting it. It’s basically about a revenge killing, and cleansing the sins of the wrong doer in the fires of vengeance. To boil it down, it’s about righting a wrong by burning someone alive. Good wholesome stuff.
9. Are there any surprises or any collaboration on the album?

Chance: There are a few new tricks or things we haven’t done before on “Serpents Unleashed.” Of course you will have to listen to the record and pick them out for yourself. I can’t just tell you “we did this new thing here or this new thing there.” Don’t worry though, there’s no drastic change in direction. You’re not going to hear me attempt any clean singing or hear any songs about how mommy didn't love me enough. That’s just not what Skeletonwitch does, or will ever do for that matter. On “Serpents Unleashed” we took what Skeletonwitch does and just did that better than we ever have before.  And no, there are no collaborations other than the group effort between us five on this record.

10. You recorded this album at Godcity Studios in Salem, Massachusetts working with Kurt Ballou what was it about this particular studio location and this guy that stood out the most for you guys? What did the two bring to the table?

Chance: Location, as in geographic location, really had no part in why we wanted to record with Kurt at Godcity studio. Although it is kind of cool to have recorded a record in a place with such a history revolving around witchcraft, of course the Salem witch trials, plus there are a lot of cool and very old grave yards there, all of which provide a certain feel or vibe as well as inspiration if you look for it. I mean Skeletonwitch recording in “Witch city” just sounds right huh!?

As far as the actual recording with Kurt goes… Kurt is able to really capture that live energy on record, which is something I feel we have always come up a little short in achieving. We were confident he could give us a tight yet raw sound, something jam packed with personality and energy, something real and organic sounding as opposed to that mechanical, almost hospital sterile and overproduced thing. Working with Kurt was a great experience, and we left Godcity studio with not only the best Skeletonwitch record to date but the best sounding Skeletonwitch record as well.

11. What are your expectations for the CD?

Chance: Well first off, I expect to be touring my ass of for the next two years following its release! I really don’t know what to expect upon releasing any album actually. People will like the record and respond to it or they won’t you know? I am however confident that we achieved what we set out to do, to continue to grow and improve as song writers and musicians and  to write and record an album that we’re all stoked on and can be proud of. The goal is to get better and better with every album, like I said, I’m very confident we achieved that goal with “Serpents Unleashed.”

12. What are your upcoming tour plans?

Chance: As of now we have a handful of shows with Swedish Occult rockers, Ghost B.C. in early October, and then we head out for over a month in late October through late November as direct support to our buds in The Black Dahlia Murder. So we’re staying busy, which is how we like it. Write, record, tour, tour, tour, repeat! Also, all of our tour dates can be found on www.skeletonwitch.com

13. The band itself has been around for 10 solid years do you guys plan on doing anything special or have you even noticed or celebrated?

Chance: Pretty much we’re celebrating 10 years as a band by releasing our 5th full length record, that’s pretty special I guess! Its an amazing feeling to have been able to do what we love for 10 years, we celebrate that fact at every show by always giving it all we have. Thanks to everyone for the support and allowing us to be around for a full decade! Lets go for two!

14. How about the rest of this year what do you guys got lined-up?

Chance: Staying on the road, doing what we love. Playing Heavy Metal!

15. Any final words of wisdom?

Chance: Words, yes. Wisdom, I’m not so sure! Id just like to give one last thanks to everyone for the continuing support, we definitely could not have survived the last 10 years as a band without you! Remember, the new record  “Serpents Unleashed” will be released on October 29th  2013. Head over to www.skeletonwitch.com for pre-order info as well as tour dates, news and everything ‘Witch’ related. Thanks again guys, we’ll see you all on the road very soon!

The Relapse Symphony's Bret and JC Makes Their Move!

Metal rock n' rollers The Relapse Symphony stand in opposition to trends, to taking the easy path to success. They aren't trying to be part of any “scene” or subgenre. They don’t want to be known as something they are not. The Relapse Symphony represents controlled chaos, indeed: the combination of determined force of will and unbridled passionate energy. To support The Relapse Symphony is to support an exuberance for life, to join in a movement of sorts about expression and fresh ideas. In other words, The Relapse Symphony is what rock is all about! Vocalist Bret Von Dehl and guitarist JC Charles both discuss the band's connection with the fans and the music they make and the process of their upcoming full-length debut and touring plans for the rest of this year!

1. The Relapse Symphony has been a band for 1 year now and has since gotten signed, released an EP, played some shows with more activity underway, what runs through your heart, mind, and soul right now?

JC: When you put it that way it does sound pretty exciting! More than anything I think we are all just really proud of what we've been able to accomplish in such a short amount of time, but we also have so much we still want to do. We are a very goal oriented band. I would say determination runs through our hearts, minds, and souls.

Bret: I agree with JC, for me and I feel like I speak for the rest of the guys as well, we're extremely happy about the things we've been able to accomplish but, we're always thinking: "what's next". We know that as a band we still have a lot to do and a long way to go to get to where we want to be as far as success goes and we're always working on the next step to getting there.

2. You of course have a video for "Panic (Time's Running Out!)" but do you have plans for a follow-up video?

JC: We've actually already filmed another music video. We aren't sure on the release date yet, but we are coordinating that now. It should be out this Summer.

3. That song comes off your debut EP "Time's Running Out", how has this release been received by the public/media?

JC: Being a fairly unknown band when we released our EP "Time's Running Out", and watching things grow since its release has been really exciting. It's been amazing to hear how many people have discovered us and are able to relate to the songs on the EP.

Bret: I see a lot of "Oh my god! This is my new favorite band!" which is amazing. Honestly, other than the typical and ignorant insults to our appearance which, we couldn't care less about, I haven't see a bad word about the video or song which is really gratifying!

4. Where are you in the process of the new album?

JC: As we speak we have drums and bass done for everything, I'm about halfway through recording my guitar tracks. Soon Bret will go in and do his parts, and then we will finish up with Alex. Everything is written, now it's just a matter of getting everything on tape.

5. Who is producing the album? How has the producer aided the recording process?

JC: We are working with JK Royston and Dan Mineart of Echodog Productions. They are former members of a band we all love called The Bigger Lights. We got some pretty huge offers before recording our full length. We could have gone anywhere, honestly. We decided to stick to our guns and work with who we knew would give us the sound we are chasing artistically.

Bret: Yeah, JK and Dan also did our EP and we went through a lot of growth as musicians and songwriters at that time. JK and Dan saw that growth and they really understand what this band is and who we are as musicians, songwriters and personally as well so, we didn't want to work with someone else who didn't get it quite as well and run the risk of tampering with our natural growth.

6. Where are you recording the album?

JC: The album is being recorded in Richmond, VA.

7. How would you describe the overall sound of the new album? How does it compare to Time's Running Out?

JC: It's still fairly early in the process, so it's hard to say exactly. What I can tell you is that, because we had more time, we were able to really fine tune everything. The drums sound much bigger, the guitars are more aggressive and technical, the bass tone Brandon got is my favorite I've ever heard. Everything is just sounding much more impressive.

Bret: I like to call it "Relapse Symphony on Steroids" it's very "us" so to speak but, every little detail has definitely taken a step up. Sounds bigger and more impressive, the songs are better and we got into a little bit of new territory as well.

8. Did the band have any definitive goals they were shooting for before the recording process began for this album?

JC: We did, actually. We know that one of the strengths of this band is our ability to write catchy songs, but we didn't want that to hold us back from getting more aggressive or dark. On the EP, sometimes it felt like we had to choose between these darker sections, or something catchy. We've grown as songwriters in the last year and now we are much better at combining the both worlds. For fans of our poppier songs, they will be happy, for fans of our heavier songs, this record is much heavier.

9. Are you using any new instrumentation you've never used in the recording process before?

JC: We might! It's hard to say at this point. All of the additional instrumentation will come when all of the 5 main band members are finished recording.

Bret: We're definitely trying new things here and there on the record though, which is really exciting!

10. When did you start writing for this album? How was the songwriting process different/similar to your previous release?

JC: We are a band that never stops writing. I was writing songs that are on this record the week we finished our EP. I think the main difference was, we all went through a lot this year. We all suffered some pretty heavy personal losses. Some of us are still struggling through some very difficult times. We were able to come together as a band over these last few months and really be there for each other. A lot of those hardships are portrayed in these songs.

Bret: Yes, this record does get very personal at times which has always been an aspect of this band, we've always worn our hearts, as well as our demons on our sleeves.

11. Time's Running Out was quite a success. Did you feel any pressure to follow it up?

JC: The only pressure we put on ourselves is to outdo ourselves. I love our EP, but I can safely say our full-length record is going to blow our fans away.

Bret: Yes, I don't think we felt much pressure at all. We were really inspired from personal issues and determined to outdo the EP and I think we have definitely done that, without a doubt.

12. How is the vibe in the studio?

JC: It's the best possible recording environment I could imagine. We are all busy gearing up for tour and trying to take care of everything that goes with that, so I am able to head in early on a Monday and track a few songs, and then Bret can go in late at night if he wants. It's all been very laid back.

Bret: It's very fun as well, as I said our producers have been with us from the beginning as well so, it's like hanging with your best friends and making some great Rock songs.

13. Can you go into one or two tracks on the new album? If so, can you give us the track title and brief description of how the track sounds and how it came about?

JC: I can't give away too much just yet. There is one song that really means the world to me, though. An ex-girlfriend of mine who I had always remained extremely close to passed away this year, and I wrote a song in dedication to her. It's something I am very proud of and I think a lot of people will be able to relate to the lyrics.

Bret: Yea, it's too early to give away too much just yet but, I can't wait for everyone to see the concept of the new record and the artwork and all that stuff.

14. Are there any surprises or any collaborations on the album?

JC: We can't give away any surprises, that would ruin the fun!

15. When can we expect the new album to be released?

JC: An exact date hasn't been determined yet, but definitely in 2013.

16. What plans do you have for the future as a band

JC: We are going out on tour with Blood on the Dance Floor starting in September. That tour will take us through December, then we plan to continue touring until it's time to record another record. I also plan to grow this band as much as possible. As I said before, we are a goal oriented band. Music is all we want to do or know how to do, and we are going to take this band as far as we can.

Bret: Yep, as I said before it's all about what the next step is to growing this band and reaching our goal.

17. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

JC: Everyone can check us out at https://www.facebook.com/TheRelapseSymphony
www.youtube.com/TheRelapseSymphony. The best place to buy our merch is from our merch table at a show, but if they want to get it online, I would check out HotTopic.com.

18. Anything else to say to wrap this all up?

JC: I just want to thank all of the TRS fans out there. You have given us more than you will ever know. Also, thank you so much for this interview!

Bret: Yes, to all of our fans: thank you so much, you mean everything to us!

InDirection's Garrett Grothe Talks Of Full-Length in the Works and a Whole LOT More!

Post hardcore act InDirections released their EP debut "Through Transitions" as well as two singles "Dead Legacy" and "The Separation" they have a lot more in-store including the release of their debut full-length due out soon! Drummer Garrett Grothe talks about how the band came to be and the new material they got in-store.

1. What type of band are you?

Garrett: We are a Post-Hardcore band from Dallas, TX

2. Tell us the brief history of your band.

Garrett: We started this band originally under the name "Perceptions". But after numerous member changes and style changes we wanted to start fresh with a new name and sound. We started InDirections in May of 2011 and released our first EP April 2012. We are currently writing our freshman full length that will be released in 2014.

3. Where are you from?

Garrett: Dallas & Houston Texas.

4. Do you think not being from a big city like LA or NY influences your sound?

Garrett: It may just depending on what kind of music you strive for. The metal genre is very dependent on social media and most of our influences come from just looking up bands on Myspace, Facebook etc.

5. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

Garrett: The band name itself really means nothing!

6. Who are your musical influences?

Garrett: Oceana(old&new) Underoath & A Plea for Purging.

7. Do you write your own songs? (Discuss the songwriting process in detail.)

Garrett: Our guitarist Kevin and Wes will record an idea. Then Landis will track a few vocal parts and get momentum on a chorus. Once we get the song structure done we all get together we then all get together and complete the song.

8. What are your songs about? (What specific themes do they cover?)

Garrett: We like writing about situations that each of us go through personally and as a band.

9. Tell me about the song Dead Legacy.

Garrett: About a two years ago we were screwed over by our old management and the production company they worked close with. We were left in a rut as a band and so we wrote a song about it.

10. Do you guys have any new music in the works?

Garrett: That we do! We are currently writing our first full length album that will be released in 2014!

11. What are your upcoming plans for this year?

Garrett: We currently can not say much but we can express that we will be touring alot alot alot.

12. What do you hope for in 2013?

Garrett: We hope to connect with more people at our shows.

13. Anything else you'd like to say or add?

Garrett: Absolutely! We are 110% so thankful for everyone of our fans around the world that have been just pouring out so much love and support. We have SO much coming up in 2013/2014 that we seriously can not wait to show everyone!

Shores Of Acheron's Todd Fletcher Talks About Music

Shores Of Acheron is a brand new 5 piece metal band from Baton Rouge, LA. Formed in 2012. Shores Of Acheron strives to put on the most entergetic live performances possible, in addition to promoting a positive message. The band brings you haunting tracks filled with eerie melodies and slamming death metal riffs with fast paced, aggressive, full-on sections packed with brutal vocals, technical drum work, booming bass, and guitar tracks capable of providing the soundtrack to the apocalypse. Guitarist Todd Fletcher discusses the band's latest material and what plans they have got planned.

1. What type of band are you?

Todd: Deathcore/Beatdown/Metal

2. Tell us the brief history of your band.

Todd: Shores was started in July of 2012, and from the very beginning we wanted to make an impact on the metal community forever. Every show we played was combined with immense amounts of emotion. We put out an  EP titled, "End Of Reign" in March of 2013, which basically revolves around topics related to the corruption of our society and our government. This CD also features Adam Warren of Oceano on one of the tracks.

3. What are your songs about? (What specific themes do they cover?)

Todd: Specifically referring to our EP, our songs were about the corruption of our government and how we are becoming a nation of sheep. The aggressive nature of the music, and harsh vocals portray a sense of anger towards our current state as a country.

4. Do you write your own songs? (Discuss the songwriting process in detail.)

Todd: We do write our own songs. We start from absolutely nothing, and eventually come up with a final product.

5. Who are your musical influences?

Todd: Some of our biggest influences would be, Carnifex, In the Midst Of Lions,  Infant Annihilator, Molotov Solution, and I Declare War. Just to name a few.

6. Where did the band get it's name and does it have a meaning behind it?

Todd: To our understanding the name actually has several different meanings.  The name was thought of from Dante's Inferno where the Shores of Acheron refers to a layer of Hell.

7. Tell me about the EP, "End Of Reign".

Todd: The EP as stated previously is about 95% government related issues. The album art displays a burning city as it storms. We wanted some symbolism in the art, instead just some regular artwork for our EP. There is a light in the upper corner that was supposed to be a sign of hope. Of course that could mean whatever you want it to mean. As far as the instrumentals go, the CD is packed with bone crushing riffs, technical drum work, and very harsh vocals to compliment the theme of the EP.

8. You mentioned your working on material for your debut album, can you give me some dirt as to how that process is coming along?

Todd: The album is coming along very nicely, it's still retains it's menacing sound as the EP did, but in a way
it is so much more different. This album already has some very bizarre instrumentation, and some of the most
unique structuring we've have ever heard. We haven't laid out a theme for our album just yet, and are not sure that there will even be one. So far, it's to soon to really give any definite details, but one thing we can assure is that it will be very different from the norm, and it's our hope that everyone will enjoy it as much as we are right now.

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

Todd: You can listen to 3 tracks off of our 7 track EP on our YouTube channel (www.youtube.com/user/shoresofacheron). Unfortunately, due to lack of funds, we do not have any merch, other than CDs. Once we restock within the next month you will be able to have access to other types of merchandise in our merch store  through bigcartel. You can go on our Facebook page on a desktop computer and visit our merch tab and buy our EP digitally, or you can buy a hard copy.

10. What plans do you have for the near future as a band?

Todd: Our ultimate goal, is to tour the world making just enough to live playing music for the masses. In the meantime, we plan to tour the US and meet as many people as possible and just enjoy the time we have together as a band. I know that personally none of us would trade a second of our time in this band for anything else.

11. Anything else you'd like to say or add?

Todd: We'd like to give a huge thanks to www.nataliezworld.com for giving us the opportunity to be interviewed, and also a thank to everyone who supports and continues to support us, because
without all of you we would never be where we are today.

The Greatness Design Talks Creation with Music

Technical melodic death metallers The Greatness Design have released their debut album "Pillars Of Creation" since then they have gone on playing shows left and right and have a lot more tunes in-store! The entire band took some time to discuss this release and what else these guys have lined-up.

1. Can I get a backstory on the band/ band biography?

Ali : The band started 2012 in Mexico with two ex-members of the band Behading Ali Rebollar (Drums) and Juan Carlos Tello (Guitar). We worked together since 2006.  With ideas for songs that have never seen the light before ,we wanted to make a new turn musically, so we began auditioning musicians for the band and after some time Luis Aguilar and Uriel Claro joined the project.

2. How did you guys come up with your band name?

Luis: The name came just after finishing the lyrics of the album, the concept was a theory about aliens as creators of humankind, and after several names and opinions we came with “The Greatness Design” referring to humanity as the masterpiece of extraterrestrial beings long ago.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

Tello: We all once lived at the same time in the state of Hidalgo in Mexico and because of Beheading we always knew each other, but never really met every member until the auditions, all of us  studied or still study college in Mexico City now, but essentially the metal scene here was the thing that brought us together. The metal scene in México is not as big as we wanted it to be, because here metal is not popular,  but Mexico is already producing very good material, Here Comes The Kraken, Betraying a Falling Hero, One of Us, Arcadia Libre, Enough has Been Said, From Alaska, Lack Of Remorse and Limerance for example.

4. What lyrical theme do you guys use in your music? What message do you want to send?

Uri : Pillars of Creation is a conceptual album that is basically a story that talks about extraterrestrial beings that created humanity based in advanced genetic technology. The alien’s purpose was to prevail in the universe. This experiment was a failure because we are independent but we have lack of morality.

5. What bands have influenced your band and its sound?

Tello: Between the four of us we listen tons of music, we have our favorites, Animals as Leaders, Periphery, Born Of Osiris, The Faceless, BTBAM,  Black Dahlia Murder, Guthrie Govan, just to name some. We tried in this album to create our own sound.

6. Is there any story or concept behind the Pillars Of Creation title?

Ali: We wanted the album’s title to reflect the concept itself and also because that’s what it is for us ,the foundation of our career and sound.

7. Who produced Pillars Of Creation and what was it like working with them?

Luis : All the production was made by the band, the 4 members contributed in almost every area, in pre-production and production, being Ali the only graduated audio engineer, he made the mix and the master.

8. Who did the cover art for Pillars Of Creation and how much input did you have on it?

Uri: The design was made by Dan Mumford, he made and awesome work respecting our ideas.

9. Do you guys have any new music in the works as far as a follow-up release?

Uri : The release of “Pillars Of Creation” was in April 21 2013, and for the moment we just want to play it live, but of course there will be new material in the future.

10. Will you be shooting a video for any of the songs off Pillars Of Creation?

Tello: Yes there is a new video coming up , we can’t say details but the song will be Silent Exposure! We will start shooting it in September so you can enjoy it as soon as possible!

11. What are your upcoming touring/show plans?

Ali: We are actually touring the south of Mexico with our friends of Here Comes The Kraken. And then we are planning another tour in October in the north zone of Mexico.

12. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

Ali : You can find our album almost everywhere, for download and streaming. CD Baby, iTunes, Spotify, Deezer between others. And if you want a physical copy and merch you can check our Facebook page - https://www.facebook.com/thegreatnessdesign.

13. What is it you'd like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

Luis: The singularity, we worked very hard on making something different from what is in the market already.

14. What can the fans expect to see from you in the future?

Tello: Give you guys awesome live shows with great performance! And of course new material.

15. Any final words of wisdom?

Luis: I think you have to stick to what you like no matter the situation.

Tello : working hard is the faster way up.
