Rock Of Ages

"Hit me with your best shot..... fire away" are some of the lyrics compressed within this revised version of the hit stage presence musical known only as Rock Of Ages. Having seen the stage performance in infamous Hollywood, California at the Pantages Theater there was doubt running through my mind as to if this movie version would hold up to that version. Well.....

It certainly did. Using actors including Tom Cruise, Mary J. Blige, Alec Baldwin, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Russell Brand, Julianne Hough, Diego Boneta, Paul Giamatti, and Malin Akerman. All of which were put up against the musical aspect that is rock n' roll. Hence the era of the 80s was sung using various hits of such acts as Def Leppard, Journey, Poison, Twisted Sister, Foreigner, Bon Jovi, Joan Jett, and more.

So the movie and stage persona are indeed slightly different having each set of characters doing a more superb job in the movie making the music more vivid and alive having the actors portraying the musical performances in a more in-depth variety not sounding cheesy or overrated but loud and proud!

Tom Cruise caries the musical making it so much better after making his appearance as the main rock god of the film Stacee Jaxx. Doing himself quite the job in a phenomenal way there was no telling how well he could sing along with the rest of cast including Alec Baldwin doing a good job as well.

Overall the Rock Of Ages movie does the job well bringing back the love and vibrations that is and forever will be rock n' roll music.

September Mourning's Emily Lazar Musical Project Sensation!

Musical based project has a story line with a comic book intertwined within it called September Mourning. Frontwomen Emily Lazar the creative force and singer song writer for the band took some time to discuss with me the band's history, most recent release, and what exactly this whole little project is truly all about.

1. So you said that your musical project is based upon a story line that has a comic book intertwined with it can you explain this whole thing to me?

Emily Lazar: September Mourning is the creation of a universe. It is not a band, it is a story... a fantasy with a musical element intertwined within its world. Created by  Marc Silvestri/ Top Cow Comics and I,  the project was previewed on stages with the legendary Marilyn Manson, only months after its inception in 2009. Performances with The Birthday Massacre, I Am Ghost, Hanzel Und Gretyl, and Dommin followed as well as radio play across the country. In 2011 at Comic Con in San Diego, SM announced a partnership with MTV that will further the development of the character and the world in which she dwells. Top Cow also announced the unveiling of the graphic novel of the same name in 2012.... There was always a story at the core of the universe of this project. Everything about the project is made to tell the story.

2. Tell me the origins of the band's name September Mourning where does a name like that come from and what does it symbolize for the band?

Emily Lazar: In the graphic novel. September is a reaper... she was once a girl who was suppose to have her soul taken by a reaper but instead that reaper sacrificed his power to her to keep her alive, at least halfway. She walks in both the world of the living and the world of the dead. Her power is the power to take souls and bring them to the afterlife or take them and give them a second chance in another host.

3. How did you come together?

Emily Lazar: The band started with Chris and I in New York. We were brought together by Melissa Cross, my vocal teacher. We started writing and brought in one of my friends, James. He brought in a friend.... it just was built through a network of people we all knew. The lineup has changed but it all comes down to working with people you like who you know can add something to the mix.

4. Where are you guys from originally?

Emily Lazar: Some of us are east coast, some west coast and Steve is from the middle. haha

5. What are your songs about? (What specific themes do they cover?)

Emily Lazar: The album, "Melancholia" embodies our very first songs that we did as a band over 2 years ago. I had a vision to bring the story line to life and wanted to use this album as part of that even from the very beginning. I had been constantly writing lyrics in the vein of this story for years in its conception… The songs developed from those words and emotions and direction of the story. This album depicts the emotions of the specific souls September takes… the next album will be even more of a concept album integrating and following more specifics in the story line.

6. Do you write your own songs? (Discuss the songwriting process in detail.)

Emily Lazar: Yes we do.... I'm a lyricist and I come up with the melodies as well. My band collectively creates the sound. Our sound has found it's own direction, heading more into the hard rock/ arena rock direction. The conceptualization of the songs, as in the stories they tell, stem from the story of September. Each song feeds the story. They work in tandem with each other.

7. What was the inspiration for the album name Melancholia?

Emily Lazar: Melancholia by definition is severe depressive state that manifests itself, on occasion, with hallucinations .. September's job in the story line is that of a reaper, who takes the souls of the living... She takes on all of their emotional toil in doing so, and has visions of their lives... it seemed like a fitting word to coincide with the story and it also lends itself to the "mourning" in name of the band.

8. Why did you pick Before the Fall as your single?

Emily Lazar: It kind of picked itself... I was asked for a song by TNA wrestling on Spike TV for their commercial for their PPV in August. "Before the Fall" was written before they asked but it seemed appropriate enough in the subject matter to fit into the commercial. They loved it and so we released it in tandem with the commercial coming out. It has garnered over 30000 views in the past month on YouTube and has gotten an amazing response from the fans.

9. Where did you get the music video for that song?

Emily Lazar: We filmed the performance part of the video in the middle of the desert outside LA, called Palmdale. The terrain was all sandy and the video shoot went to 2am. All 3 of the production cars got stuck in the sand and the whole team didn't get home till noon the next day. It was a loooooong night.

10. You guys have a unique sound, which bands would you saw influence you the most?

Emily Lazar: Of course we are  very influenced by theatrical bands, from the greats.. Alice Cooper, Rob Zombie, Marilyn Manson... in our stage presence and energy. We have a pop sensibility to our writing on top of hard rock / metal riffs, so any band from Dillinger Escape Plan to Slayer to U2 could be cited as an influence. Each one of us has a broad musical background. it's what keeps us unique and gives the music its color.

11. Have you recorded any previous CDs or posted any audio files on the Internet?

Emily Lazar: "Melancholia" was the first CD we did and it was only for Europe... we will be releasing something in the states as our first release next year sometime... until then we have "before the Fall", our single, on Itunes.

12. What type of recording process did you use? Who produced your recording?

Emily Lazar: We produced "Melancholia" ourselves... we are really proud of that. Those songs were the first songs ever written in this band. They hold a special place in each one of us. Dave Ogilvie (Marilyn Manson/ NIN) and Kurt Mass mixed and mastered the album. The single "Before the Fall" was produced by Sahaj Tic (RA). Both were recorded in studios. The album primarily in New York City and the single here in LA.

13. How did you sell your CD’s/Audio Files?

Emily Lazar: We have a label in Europe that is selling Melancholia in stores over there and it is now available on Amazon.com as an import and iTunes carries the single.

14. What image do you think your music conveys?

Emily Lazar: Deep and dark. Just like its writers. ;)

15. How do you describe your music to people?

Emily Lazar: Dark alternative rock!

16. What else can we expect to see from you guys between now and the end of the year?

Emily Lazar: We are opening up Saturday at Rock Vegas for Rob Zombie and Marilyn Manson and others.. that's pretty exciting, not gonna lie. We also have the comic book coming up and a collaboration with MTV Geek for a live action of that!

17. Anything else you want to add or say to your fans?

Emily Lazar: I just want to say thank you. Thank you for all of you for being so amazing. We couldn't do this without you... seriously,  Your love and support means everything to us.

Murder Made God's Dennis Discusses Style, Making Music, and More!

Death metal act Murder Made God had caught up with me to discuss the band's style, ways with making music, and upcoming plans for the future. Guitarist Dennis discusses these matters.

1. Murder Made God is the band's name but where did the name actually come from and what does it mean?

Dennis: Actually the idea for the band name came from a good friend and our sound engineer. One of the deeper meanings of this name is a nihilistic dimension of human existence.

2. Tell us the brief history of your band.

Dennis: Murder Made God is a Brutal Death Metal band consists from the ex-Human Rejection members. After we split up as HR three of the four members decided to continue as a new band by adding a new vocalist. We had a lot of material ready and without loosing much time we came with our 2011 three song promo who caught the attention in one of the best and brutal US records label BRUTAL BANDS ,who signed the band a multi-album contract in April of 2012!

3. Who are your musical and non-musical influences?

Dennis: I think our influences are whatever sounds interesting and extreme . Moreover the dailly social and political situation is something that inspires us as well.

4. What are your songs about? (What specific themes do they cover?)

Dennis: The lyrical theme of the songs usually has to do more with the human situations that we have to realize with a social way of perception.

5. Who writes the songs, what are they about?

Dennis: I usually came with some musical ideas and then we are working all together until the final result. As for the lyrics George (Vocals) is responsible for this sector.

6. What's new in the recording of your music?

Dennis: Nothing special...All we try to do is to give 100% of our energy and try to avoid mistakes of the past recordings.

7. How do you describe your music to people?

Dennis: Extreme and Brutal with some modern ideas!

8. Have you recorded any previous CDs or posted any audio files on the Internet?

Dennis: We recorded only the 2011 Promo and everyone can listen to it even from our Facebook page or from Youtube. The debut album will be ready hopefully until the end of 2012.

9. What type of recording process did you use? Who produced your recording?)

Dennis: We are working with digital recordings.Usually when the drums are ready we start searching the best sound for guitars by testing lot's of amplifiers and cabinets. When the bass and vocals will be recorded then we start the mixing process. Our sound engineer is Stelios "Stelth” Koslidis (Human Rejection, Head Cleaner , Mass Infection, Margin Of Existence etc) I think he is great in what he is doing and the final result of the recordings sounds better and better!

10. How did you sell your CD’s/Audio Files?

Dennis: The full length album will be available via Brutal Bands worldwide and straight from the band. So after the cd is out ,everyone who interesting in buying it has to contact the Label or the Band either.

11. What are the biggest obstacles for bands?

Dennis: I will say that firstly the biggest obstacle is to have persons in the band that can't understand even a word and secondly to have financial difficulties . Both situations are real pain in the ass!

12. What are your dreams and goals?

Dennis: I think that seeing peoples loving your music and give you their full support is one of the top goals. Also i have to say that playing gigs all over the world meeting new places, more peoples and bands that you listen too since you were a child is an incredible experience!

13. What inspires you to do what you do?

Dennis: The passion that we have in what we are doing! To create brutal music and have some gigs around the world.

14. What advice would you give to fellow bands?

Dennis: I think the best advice is to work all the time as hard as you can, beleive in what you are doing and don’t give a fuck to those who backbite... Then , it's a matter of time to start receiving slowly what you trully deserve! Thanks for the Interview.

ILL NINO EXPOSE “THE DEPRESSION” LYRICAL VIDEO

ILL NINO has released a lyric video for their new single “The Depression” from their forthcoming coming album EPIDEMIA, out October 22nd. Check out the video HERE.

Anagnorisis' Zak, Zachary, and Sam says their an Act Unlike Any Other!

Louisville, Kentucky black metal act Anagnorisis is an act unlike any other since the release of their EP 'Ghost of Our Fathers" the band has been hard at work on their next releaxe. Zak Denham (guitars), Zachary Kerr (bass) and Samuel Hartman (keyboards) talked to me about their band's start how their EP got created and what the future beholds them with their new music being created.

1. What type of band are you?

Sam: A black metal band who hates god. Never been done before, I know.

2. How did you come together?

Sam: Zak, Zachary and myself have been writing and recording together since 2008, though the band has been around much longer. We added Chris in late 2009 after another slew of line-up changes and were lucky enough to find our live bass player Josh at the last minute before this tour.

3. Where are you guys from originally?

Sam: Louisville, Kentucky.

4. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

Sam: The word “anagnorisis” is a Greek word which means “recognition” or “realization,” as in the moment where a main character of tragedy learns his or her fatal flaw, or gains critical understanding of the situation. The term is cohesive with the concept album Overton Trees, which we released in 2007, but it’s come to mean a lot as we have kept the name over the years.

5. What are your plans for new music?

Sam: We are currently in the pre-production stages for our next full length which will likely continue to explore the themes of poisonous religion, death, and the “self.” It will build on the style of music found on Ghosts of Our Fathers, but with an entire album to develop the musical and lyrical themes. We’re not setting any boundaries or guidelines on the new material, but it will definitely be a black metal album.

6. What was the inspiration for the EP name Ghosts of Our Fathers?

Zachary: We wanted a literal interpretation behind the meaning of the songs for the title of the EP. My father died three months after Sam's step father, as we were beginning the crafting of these songs. As music is captivation personified sonically, our fathers were guidance personified physically, inspiration for everything we as men strived to become. In essence, their very nature and inspiration helped to craft the songs that represented their end.

7. Why was this 2-song album a tribute release?

Zachary: We experienced their death. We dealt with the immediate effects of this loss but needed to address the resonance of their memories.

8. Why did you want to dedicate this release to the memory of James E. Kerr and Robert C. Dayle?

Zachary: The EP is an homage and eulogy to the dead. A farewell, so we could all move forward. Honesty within lyrical connotation is lost with so many metal bands behind the veil of "dark and evil" lyrics. I dumped my father’s ashes into freezing water. I watched the last physical form of him dissolve and knew that this was the absolution of life and death. My memories are now with the listeners to interpret or relate to. Whether they like it or not, it's as honest as I could be to myself and my father’s memory.

9. Do you write your own songs? Can you discuss the songwriting process in detail?

Sam: Absolutely. Zak typically writes the majority of the riffs at One by One, his studio, then the rest of the band comes in and we arrange the parts, add drums, vocal parts, key ambience, and so forth. We’ve only begun to write with Chris on this last EP, so we are excited to see what he can do given a full 60 minutes or more on this next record.

10. Who are your musical influences?

Sam: Between the four of us we listen to everything from Blodsband to Berg, so it varies quite a bit, but we’re all fans of the “new wave of American black metal,” as well as classic European stuff like Behemoth, Dimmu Borgir, Emperor, and so on.

11. What image do you think your music conveys?

Sam: I don’t think the “music” conveys any image – it’s music. We use blasphemous images on our shirts, and our live show speaks for itself, but our music is aural in nature, not visual.

Zak: I believe you learn a lot about people when you listen to their music. This music is our soul, our thoughts, our perspective, etc. Describing our sound verbally (or textually) seems inefficient when the music speaks so strongly for itself.

12. How do you describe your music to people?

Sam: Our style has changed so much over the years, but it is firmly rooted in black metal now. Bits of death metal - and other genres - seep in from time to time.

13. What advice would you give to fellow bands?

Zak: Although we have been around and experienced a lot, we are still very much in the midst of our musical journey. We don't pretend to have all the answers. In some cases, we know what works for us, but quite often we learn as we go. Ultimately, we try to prioritize our goals and strive for creating something that is a bit different, and of a high caliber.

14. What are the biggest obstacles for bands?

Zak: Perhaps things are different if you are from a bigger city, but who really knows what to do? By this I mean, who can you trust, who has like experience that you can gain knowledge from, and who can help you attain your goals? I don't know of too many people that fit this mold in my life. Thus, we have to do things our self, teach ourselves the skills needed to succeed, and through failed experimentation we eventually achieve something. The lack of D.I.Y. ethic – or not depending on external forces – is perhaps the largest obstacle to all bands.

15. Do you have anything planned for the rest of this year?

Sam: The rest of 2012 will be spent writing our next full length, and who knows, we may play a couple more shows in the region. Our last string of shows was a great success, and we’re grateful to have so many fans that still support us after all these years.

16. Any last words you want to say to your fans?

Sam: No gods, no fucking masters.  We sincerely thank you for your support, HAILS!

17. Is that your final answer?

Sam: Never!

Evanescence Goes on Hiatus

After a massive comeback with last year’s self-titled effort — not to mention singer Amy Lee appearing on last year’s cover of our annual Hottest Chicks in Hard Rock issue — it looks like Evanescence will be taking an extended break after their current tour wraps up.

“I haven’t been sitting down to write,” said Lee. “I’m thinking we’ll take a break first. I’m really not sure what I’ll do next. At the end of any really long tour, you need to get your head in order. I think at the end of the run, we’ll go on a break for a while and figure things out.”

She continued, “Taking long breaks is seen as a bad thing, but I don’t think it’s a bad thing. People have the idea that you have to keep putting stuff out while people remember you. But I’d rather make something that’s awesome and then make people remember again.”

Hardcore Evanescence fans likely aren’t worried about the break being permanent, as it took five years between the band’s 2006 album The Open Door and 2011′s Evanescence.

“I hope it doesn’t take five years,” the singer adds. “But I don’t want to put a timeline on it either. We’ll all be doing our own thing for a while.”

The Used's Video for "Put Me Out" Released

The Used have released an all new video for the song "Put Me Out" check it out below!

Glamour Of The Kill - The Summoning

Glamour Of The Kill's are UK's finest and are set to hit the big time right here, right now. With this they went on to write and record their debut release entitled "The Summoning". This consists their one hit wonder of a single "Feeling Alive" that just released a video to go with its catchy upbeat tune. Other tunes with a rather upbeat tone of a tune includes "Dying From The Inside", "Lost Souls", "Through The Eyes Of The Broken" and "Army Of The Dead", really captures the styling's similar to that of Bullet For My Valentine crosses Asking Alexandria. Having that partying sensational vibe of old school 80's hair metal meets today's modern metal - throwing out those guitar riffs with overpowering drum beats and chorus lines. Drawing from a deep well of hard-driving music with rebellious disregard for the restrictive “rules” of nitpicking subgenres, Glamour Of The Kill raise the flags high from here on out.

Mongrel - Reclamation

Through the years Mongrel has seen better days but now things are looking brighter than ever with their next full-length release "Reclamation" which is their fifth album since their formation way back when.
This time around this release takes steps towards the same direction the previous releases "The New Breed of Old School" (2010) and "Declamation" (2011) did keeping that sleazy hard rock adrenaline pumping. Frontwomen Jessica Sierra taking control using her edgy powerful vocal chords really keeps the music pushing through from start to finish with songs like; "Bored to Death", "Fuck Off and Die", "The More I Bleed", and "Crucifiction", instrumentals are focused yet strong heavy guitar riffs, smooth bass lines, knick knack drum beats all blend in to establish such a edgy but sleazy hard rock style it's unbreakable.
Lyrically the words compel an inner meaning dealing with complications, misery, and emotion that keeps your fist pumping to each word spoken.  Mongrel has put together a release that is very intriguing yet satisfying to any die hard rock personal in need of a edgy fix.

Obsession's Jonathan and Aryn Get their Party-On!

Obsession is a super pop duo consisting of two members: Jonathan Jetson & Aryn Adonis. In a generation where two or more guys making music is commonly recognized as having to be a rock band and playing an instrument, and popstars are most commonly some blonde competition winner of American Idol or the X-Factor. They are here to break the mold and create a new image for what the gender and sound of a pop star can be. They are not trying to be the next Mariah Carey, cause they are not professional singers. They are here to be the next generation of pop artists.

After gaining some experience, they took a more serious approach to the music business. They have released five singles and an EP, have had radio, magazine, and countless other interviews, music featured on shows such as "The Avenue" & in a 2012 ad campaign on MTV & VH1 for the music website fMainstream.com, performed at venues around the United States including a performance for 65,000+ at Indy Pride 2011, and new music being unleashed upon the world!

They came from another world, here to spread their extra auto-tuned, ass shaking dance sound with this planet. Their music has a message. Three qualities to live by, which are to LOVE YOURSELF, because you are all superstars in your own way. Second, to LOOK CONFIDENT, cause you are all beautiful. Last, LIVE FREE. Party hard and make the most of life no matter what your situation is. Live by this sound of music and you will forever be rich. This richest you can get, an Obsessionaire!

Don't be surprised when you start to see or hear more of Obsession. They have a very bright future, and it is blinding. Watch out, bitches!

1. What type of band are you?

We are a dancy, auto-tuned, catchy musical duo. We love to sing and dance!

2. Tell us the brief history of your band.

We met in 2009. We both had similar dreams of breaking out in the music industry. We had the ambition needed to work hard and play hard. We decided to experiment with some tracks to see how the finished product sounded and we loved what we heard. Over time, we have improved our sound and image and shaped ourselves into people that we wanted to be. Our fans have helped us succeed and supported us
since the beginning, and for that, we will be forever grateful to them.

3. Why did you want Obession to be a two person group?

Two heads are always better than one! We feel that it gave more 'spice' from a musical point of view. For example, we have two different singing styles and sounds. Instead of our songs always having the same vocal sound, there is now a variation with the two different voices. It also gives more personality to our performances and music.

4. What does the band's name refer to?

The name is a play on how some fans are obsessed with those who are well-known or famous. We have some very devoted fans that we love very much! But, it is a fact that some fans become obsessed with celebrities.

5. Who are your musical and non-musical influences?

We get influenced by just about anything. We can get influenced by the weather, life experiences, arguments, relationships, etc. Musically, we are influenced by performers who know how to have a good time. Britney Spears, Kesha, LMFAO, Flo Rida, etc., are some huge examples.

6. What are your dreams and goals?

Our dreams are to become known around the world. We want to make an impact. We would like to be able to say, "we made a difference in some way." We want to hear our songs in different countries. We want to be seen on television. We would love to take over!

7. Who writes the songs, what are they about?

Both of us write our songs. Sometimes, one will write a whole song, and sometimes we help each other out. We write about anything and everything that comes out on paper. Most of the time, the lyrics are about having a great time and letting loose.

8. Have you recorded any previous CDs or posted any audio files on the Internet?

In 2009, we released an EP with five songs on it titled "Get Dirty and Dance!". We have released many singles since then, and have been hard at work on our upcoming album, "Global Domination".

9. How did you sell your CD’s/Audio Files?

iTunes and Amazon has always been the number one seller for us. We have had our music on virtually every music download website. We have sold physical copies of CD's at shows and to our friends, family, etc. We also have put most of our songs on YouTube for free.

10. What image do you think your music conveys?

To let go, do what you want, shake your ass, be yourself, and have a great time.

11. What advice would you give to fellow bands?

Work your ass off! It will eventually pay off. You won't go from a 'nobody' to a 'somebody' in one day, but working hard will get you closer to achieving your dream.

12. How do you describe your music to people?

It's Fun. Auto-tuned. Dancy. When the song comes on, you'll start singing the catchy lyrics and shaking your ass!

13. What else do you have planned for the rest of this year?

We're working on our album now. It's close to being done. We've had a couple of set backs and pushed the release back twice, but as of now, everything is moving along great. We plan on releasing it in just a few short months. We're in talks to getting it put in a couple of very well known
stores.

14. Anything else you want to say or add?

Yes, please visit our website! We have all of our music endeavours and plans on there, as well as photos,
merchandise, info for new releases, etc. The link is http://www.officialobsession.com. Thank you so much everyone!

Silent Season's Jeremy Rae Breaks Down Band's Historic Beginning's

Being at their worst part in their life Silent Season needed something to turn that upside down into something better hence the name of their latest release "Breaking Me Down". Vocalist Jeremy Rae caught up to discuss his band's release, the past, how song writing is created by these guys plus so much more!

1. Where are you guys from originally?

Jeremy: We originated in Reading MA at our drummer Dave's basement.

2. What type of band are you?

Jeremy: We are a Rock/Hard Rock band.

3. How did you come together?

Jeremy: Myself Jeremy (vocals) and Dave (drums) were in a previous band together. When that was at its end we wanted to start something new based on our influences. From there we gained Brendan (guitar) and started writing together. After a few member changes Andrew (bass) and Josh (guitar) came along to form our final lineup.

4. What ís the origin of the bandís name?

Jeremy: We were looking for a way to describe what was happening to our music scene. Bands were breaking up and the music industry was falling at the time, so Silent Season came up from Dave to signify the start of something new at that time.

5. Who are your musical influences?

Jeremy: We have a ton, but just to name a few Sevendust, Red, Breaking Benjamin, Metallica, Killswitch, 10 Years, and so many more.

6. Tell me about your writing process and what you go through when creating a song.

Jeremy: We make it a point to write together. Someone may come up with a part to a song and present it to the rest of the band. From there we map it out by recording what we have and then all break it down to see what works best for the song.

7. What are your songs about and who writes the songs?

Jeremy: We like to leave our songs open for interpretation so that the listeners can relate to them in their own way. (I) Jeremy writes the lyrics to the songs, but we all are multi talented and write the songs together.

8. What was the inspiration for the album name Breaking Me Down?

Jeremy: At the point where we wrote the song Breaking Me Down a lot of things happened that put Silent Season on hold. Breaking Me Down as an album name was a symbol of us at our worst rising back up to our best.

9. Do you guys have any new music in the works?

Jeremy: We actually have been writing a lot for our next album and are very excited to show the world our progress as a band.

10. What advice would you give to fellow bands?

Jeremy: Don't ever give up no matter what happens. I can't even begin to tell you what this band has been through since 2008, but if music is your dream then nothing and no one should ever get in your way.

11. What are the biggest obstacles for bands?

Jeremy: I think the better question is what is not an obstacle for a band; haha. I would say that raising money to do all the things that you need to do. But when there is a will there is a way!

12. Do you have any other side projects happening?

Jeremy: Nope, we make it a point to make Silent Season our main priority as we are really just starting to get out there in the eyes of the world.

13. What are the upcoming plans for Silence Season?

Jeremy: Our next goal is Radio and eventually touring. We are also going to start raising money for our next music video very soon.

14. Anything else you want to say?

Jeremy: We just want to say thank you to everyone who supports us, and thank you very much for the interview!

BLEED FROM WITHIN RELEASES VIDEO FOR "IT LIVES IN ME"

Scottish metalcore act Bleed From Within released a video for the single "It Lives In Me." It comes from the band's upcoming Century Media Records debut and was produced by Romesh Dodangoda (Funeral For A Friend, Motörhead, Lostprophets).

The video chronicles the band's time recording its new album. Bleed From Within comments on the song and video: "'It Lives in Me' has a positive message which we want to bring forward about not giving up on something we've worked so hard to get where it is now. There's no better time than now and with all the support we have behind us and an extremely dedicated fanbase who have stuck by us, it's made everything worthwhile. The band have been going for about 8 years now but this still feels like it's just the beginning for us. It's about appreciating what we have and enjoying our time in this band and not taking it for granted."

Becoming The Archetype's Seth Hecox says I Am Who I Am!

Becoming The Archetype spoke to us previously a few years back and now years later they are still doing what they do best making music! Going on what is their fifth full-length album entitled "I Am", guitarist, mastermind and band nucleus Seth Hecox is the man who talked to me about the band's latest telling me what it's all about!

1. This is your fifth full-length release how does this make you feel?

Seth: Old, haha.  We're starting to enter that hallowed level of longevity that not too many metal bands reach.  Feels kinda cool, you know?

2. Where does a title like "I Am" come from is there a meaning behind it?

Seth: It is a representation of the lyrics that permeate the record and are all written in first-person.  I AM is a first-person affirmative and was used by Jehovah when speaking to Moses in the Old Testament.  This statement is a powerful affirmation of being and of positive existence.

3. How has the band’s sound evolved from Celestial Completion to I Am?

Seth: It's become more focused.  We found a great groove and didn't allow anything to distract us from that groove.  We dug in and wrote pure heaviness to counterbalance the far-flung zaniness exhibited on Celestial Completion.

4. Was your songwriting and recording process any different than usual for this CD?

Seth: Not a ton, no.  We write over the course of several months while we're going about our lives and then when we've got a full album, we enter the studio and record it.

5. What inspired the album title? Is it a concept album?

Seth: It has a loose concept, yes.  I AM is a straight-forward, intensely focused sound and concept.  This is an explanation of purpose and action.

6. What did you feel was different about the production of the new album?

Seth: We recorded with Shane Frisby.  We'd never recorded with him before, but we liked his work on other albums.  He did a great job of getting superb guitar tones and drums sounds.  Then we had Tue Madsen mix it, and he's a genius at creating huge metal mixes.  He has a unique, trademark sound and he came through in spades.  I loved it.

7. Who writes the songs?

Seth: I've written nearly half of the music in the band if you look at the whole BTA catalog.  On I AM, Daniel wrote most of the music, then I added some on keyboard, then I wrote the lyrics and we both worked together to fashion the vocal patterns and vocal melodies and harmonies.

8. How does the songwriting process work?

Seth: On I AM, the first step was Daniel writing riffs and sending them to everyone else.  Then we'd get together and flesh out all the instruments and details of the song.  It was a fairly simple process because Daniel wrote such great riffs and crafted such great songs.

9. What do you have in the future for Becoming the Archetype?

Seth: We have some CD release shows coming up.  After that, we've got holidays to enjoy and then we'll hit the road again next year!  We just released a music video which is very fun to watch and is a unique experience to the heavy metal music video world.

10. What are your expectations for the CD?

Seth: I think it'll please our fans and draw in some new fans.  It'll probably perform a little better than Celestial Completion because it doesn't hit the ears as strangely as CC did.

11. What are your upcoming tour plans?

Seth: Other than the CD release shows, basically just a heavy schedule in the summer.  Maybe we'll get over to Europe in the Spring or Fall.

12. Is there anything else you’d like to add that we haven’t covered?

Seth: I'd like to remind our fans to brush their teeth and do their homework!
