Yuval Lavi Discusses Music in All Shapes and Forms!

Up and coming artist YUVAL LAVI has released music and worked in other forms of media. He wants to continue to release even more music for other pieces like film, TV, and video games even. Find out what else was discussed by him below.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members?

My name is Yuval Lavi, I’m a classically and contemporary trained composer, producer, sound designer for visual media based in Los Angeles.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

My name is in Hebrew, it means a small river (or brook). But the origin of my name goes all the way back to the old testament. Yuval has the far relative of Noah (from Noah’s Ark). He was the first musician in the Bible “Genesis credits him as the forefather of certain instruments”.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are thereany local bands you could recommend?

I’m based in Los Angeles, California. And as you can imagine, the music scoring scene is vast. There are a lot of the talented composers in town and I am lucky to have worked with and even be friends with some. Some of my favorite local composers are Torin Borrowdale (Locke & Key), Inon Zur (Power Rangers, Fallout Series) and Haim Mazar (Sneakerheads, Woke).

4. How would you describe your style?

I’m Influenced a lot by electronic producers. I was always fascinated by synths and modulations of organic sounds. Also, I always had a passion for contemporary composers’ work. My upcoming album is influenced by the musicians like Ludovico Einaudi, Evgeny Grinko and Olafur Arnolds.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

I have worked on a few films, some based in the West Coast and some based in Israel and France. My latest release is a short Israeli film named The Fisherman’s Wife. It is an incredible film and I’m honored to have taken part of it. It will be released next month in Jerusalem Festival.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

I’ve been writing a new album that will be released next month. 6 months of hard work is coming to an end! It’s always great to see the final results of something you put a lot of hard work and passion into.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

I’m currently working on a few films that should come out in the next few months. Stay tuned!

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

Making beautiful and brilliant music for amazing films, video games and TV shows.

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

You can listen to my music on my website: yuvallavi.com. When the album will be released next month it’ll be available on all the streaming platforms.

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

I’d like evoke emotions within the listener that make the moment they are experiencing a core memory in their lives.
