Red Maker Discusses New Album Plus More!

Up and coming and RED MAKER began not too long ago, releasing a few single's with even a 2 hour length album of demo's as well. The band has a debut album out this summer with a live album as well. So much more is also in-store that the band just has to discuss it all below.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and it’s members.

Sam and Morgan’s high school friendship was re-kindled, after 6 years, at a Slayer show they just both happened to be at. Not long after, with talks of jamming, Red Maker was formed in Jan 2021 by Morgan Harris and Sam Di Vito. Then after many months of recording and performing as a duo, the sound demanded expansion, which lead to Kyle Dowling to join as lead guitar player. As the band grows, Morgan Harris is on bass and lead vocals, Sam Di Vito is on the drums and vocals, and Kyle Dowling is lead guitar.

2. What’s the origin of your bands name?

After many weeks of arguing over name choice, Red Maker was taken from the name of one members elementary school-yard gang name.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you’d recommend?

Red Maker is based out of Sioux Falls, SD. which holds a frustratingly small indie music scene. Though for some reason happily encouraged by the metal scene, you often find headbangers and mosh pits in most of the bills Red Maker shares. Some bands from the area that have we’ve made friendships with in the scene has been Skin of Our Teeth, Great Odins Raven, The Disarmed, Sharon’s Little Helpers, and Pray for Villains.

4. How would you describe your style?

You can hear a love of an eclectic range of records, and find their influence in our sound. Every song is a new story with a new vibe and new approach. You hardly know what to expect every time you hit “next”.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

We’ve released exclusively singles so far every month since June ‘21 to January ‘22, and then put out a 2-hour long album of demos in April of ‘22. You can expect top notch quality mix from Tyler, at Red Dot Recording (Fargo, ND), as well as your new favorite song!

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

Getting finishing touches on a live album, as well as wrapping up the recording process for our first official album, set to come out in July.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

So far we have 4 shows from June to August including Owatonna, Omaha, and two local Sioux Falls shows, one of which is The Four Winds Festival. We’re constantly looking at booking many more!

8. What plans do you have for the future of the band?

Releasing music and playing gigs, to try to make this our full-time job!  Hopefully touring and record deals in our near future!

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

You can find our music on any major streaming sites, mainly Spotify. You can find our merch at our live shows, or you can DM us for an order (which we are more than happy to respond to!)

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

We always talk about real life, with all of it’s real problems and beauty. We hope the most that any listeners can find relate-ability to their experiences in the songs that we write.
