Spacejam Says Lots on Music, Both Recent Content and All New Works!

Rock, punk, pop band SPACEJAM was founded only in 2018, so not that long ago, but have since released a debut EP along with a debut full-length album as well. More all new music is in the works as it were, with the band wanting to play on stage once more, along with touring and continuing to record all new music! Find out what else the band had to say about the music and more.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

SPACEJAM is the interplanetary meeting at the end of 2017 of three musicians at the peak of their Art and with impressive routes. Rich in their virtuosity and their experiences, they shared the biggest stages alongside THE CURE, BB KING, MANU CHAO… Backpackers, work enthusiasts and Rock'n'Roller at heart, onboard their space vehicle, they develop the algorithms of their repertoire.
Sebastian Parris (Guitars-Vocals-Songwriter) grew up near Dartford (Kent UK). In 1992 Sebastian moved to Paris and recorded the debut album of his band, Bikini. The album was recorded in the Studios de La Grande Armée (Paris). The band’s manager was Marc Barrière who was also Trust and Indochine’s manager. The band was soon on a French and European tour. Sebastian has formed other bands during his career such as The Inflicts, No Name and Karmasonik, and has released several LP’s on independent labels. Late 2017 with KC Elstun and Ali LassabSebastian started up SPACEJAM

Ali Lassab (Bass-backing vocals) was born in Marseille, (France). He grew up in Grenoble, and discovered music as a teenager, first taking up the drums then moving on to the guitar. After discovering the bass he became involved in several projects and soon made to move to become professional. Since 1990 Ali has played with many well-known French and international artists. He has appeared on the largest stages both in France and abroad, and is comfortable playing in various musical styles ranging from rock to Latino. Ali has appeared on sixteen albums and has played with such bands as Ke Onda, Glasgow, Trez, Dream about Alice, Requiem of Sylvia, and The Mahmoud Dupont Group…

KC Elstun (Drums-vocals) native of Cincinnati, Ohio, USA. Started playing the drums at the age of 8 and his first band at the age of 13. KC formed the highly successful Cincinnati Slim and the Headhunters. From the early ’80's, the band toured regionally in the US for almost 20 years, recorded an album for MoPro Records, and was the opening act for numerous artists including BB King, Bobby Bland, The Fabulous Thunderbirds... He appeared on stage with blues legends such as Bo Diddley, The Legendary Blues Band, and Lonnie Mack.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?
And no the name has not anything to do with the movie! I thought of the name as a futuristic evolution of mankind. We are in year 4600 and earth is no longer the only place we live. We live on planet earth but work on the moon, we go on holidays on Mars, etc...Imagine the traffic jam on rush hours in space and I got the name Spacejam.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

We are from a small town near Grenoble in the south-east of France. The music scene is almost Electro Pop with a few Reggae and Metal bands. There are not many Rock bands at all.I would recommend a band called JAK’S. We like their music and the guys in the band are cool.

4. How would you describe your style?

Rock Pop band with Anglo-American influences. SPACEJAM Spreads a powerful and melodic Rock with poetic and dreamlike lyrics. SPACEJAM is the only genuine jam from space!

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

We have released a 4 track EP and a 10 track album. Spacejam’s music is an invitation to travel, to escape.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

Yes, we have 30 more songs in stock and we are currently working on them.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

No not for the moment, all our shows have been cancelled and since government directives are not clear, we don't know when we will be able to play live on stage again.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

Playing live on stage again, touring, recording a new album with great record producers such as Clive Martin who did our new album. Clive was the record producer of David Bowie, The Cure, Sting, Queen….
