Forrest Says New Music, Videos, and More!

Indie rockers FORREST have just released their debut EP titled "Temper", with more emotional music expected between the summer into the fall time frame. Aside from that, the band plans to put together some videos and then sooner or later get out and play some shows and or touring hopefully in the future. Find out what else was said right below.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

Oh boy. Honestly, we’ve all been playing music together in some capacity for the better part of 10 years. Michael and Levi were in pop-punk/hardcore bands together from when they were babies— 15 to 18. Levi and I jammed throughout the years making weird bits of what we felt was crazy musical magic each time we did (I had moved to LA and Boston for awhile, so our jams got sporadic for a few years), and Manu hung out and collaborated with Levi and Michael throughout the same period.

I (Hailie) came back in late 2018 from a solo tour and needed a good group of musicians to back me up for a show in the Bay Area, and I had one week to prep for it— and I thought of no one else besides these three dudes. We came together, honestly stressed out at first due to my last-minute proposition, and rocked the dang show. Everything just— felt right from there on out. That night, we all bandmate-proposed to each other, and we became Forrest.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

I was meant to be called Forrest if I’d have been born the opposite sex.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

We’re a band from Martinez, CA, East San Francisco Bay Area. We’ve got a lot of angst in the Bay Area-- a lot of sad kid rock n’ roll, always ready to show our teeth. There are so many great bands in the area-- we wouldn’t know where to start!

4. How would you describe your style?

Indie-rock, melodic and ethereal indie. Real vibey with some straight-up jam moments. We’ve sort of got a full-band Julien Baker thing going, I mean if she wanted to fight you.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

On April 4, we released our first four-song EP, Temper. We’re jam-oriented and lyric-heavy with super deep instrumentation.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

We definitely do! We’re hoping to release a sad, funky love song come summer, and more come fall.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

Unfortunately, that’s gonna have to be put on hold indefinitely due to COVID-19.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

Hopefully, we’ll be able to put together some videos soon. We’ve got a lot of visual elements we’ve been imagining and we can’t wait to bring them to life.

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

You can find us on any and all streaming services! The most helpful way to find us on your favorite streaming service would be to hit up our website at http://forrest.band/.

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

We’d want them to remember that whatever they’re feeling, it’s okay to feel it and go through it. We’ll all be alright on the other side as long as we keep our heads up as best we can.
