Infrared Brings Themselves Back Together with New Music and Showcases

Infrared is a Thrash Metal band from Ottawa Ontario Canada formed in 1985 and recently reunited in 2014. That said, the band got together again, to work on new tunes, play some shows, and much more that they have in-store.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

The beginning of Infrared was formed in 1985, with Kirk and Armin writing some riffs and creating some songs. Alain Groukx quickly became the drummer and Shawn Thompson the bassist. Over the next few years the band recorded a demo and shot a video which was played nationally in Canada but then by 1988, after a few lineup changes, the band fizzled out.

27 years later, we reformed for a reunion show with Mike Forbes on bass since Shawn now lives in Miami. The show went very well, so we decided to record all the songs properly and the result was the No Peace album released in March of 2016.

2. What's the origin of the band's name?

Truth be told, it came from a Megadeth lyric from the Killing is My Business song.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

We are based out of Ottawa Canada. The scene is quite healthy, as it is throughout Canada. We have made a lot of friends with other bands just as passionate about metal. We have played shows with Vyc Vypyr who are awesome guys, and Drillpoint was a great local band, although now not together. Who knows, maybe they will reunite. And of course, we have to mention the big hitters Exciter and Annihilator who both call Ottawa home.

4. How would you describe your style?

Definitely classic thrash metal. If you like the early Big 4 material, you will get our style. There are some punk influences in our early material.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

We have a 1986 and 1988 demo tape (both pretty much the same demo except 1998 had a newer version of one of the songs on it), and we have our 2016 No Peace album. The album is made up of 11 of the old classic thrash songs with a heavy modern production to it.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

For sure. We have so many riffs and song ideas plus a few old songs we would like to revisit.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

We are playing shows. A couple in our home town, one with the great Anvil in September and also shows in Kingston and some planned for Quebec. We are just waiting to iron out the details for those.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

Shows, a second album, and just lots of fun playing and writing more metal.

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

We are pretty much everywhere. Spotify, YouTube, CDBABY, iTunes, bandcamp, etc. Just search on Infrared No Peace and you will find us.

10. What is it you'd like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

That we are authentic, that you can hear we really mean what we play.

Revocation's Dave says Great Is Our Sin

Go getters Revocation, have been hard at work, writing and recording for what will be their latest and newest release to date, "Great Is Our Sin".Frontman vocalist/guitarist David Davidson or "Dave" discusses this album and much, much, more!

1. First of all, who are you, and what do you do in the band?

Dave: I’m Dave, I play guitar and sing.

2. Let's talk a little about the history of your band. When did you originally form and is this the original line-up?

Dave: We formed back in 2006, currently I am the only original member.

3. Do you remember how the idea of forming the band first came up?

Dave: We were initially named “Cryptic Warning” and played a bunch of shows under that moniker for several years. Eventually our writing style started developing more and we felt that the material was advancing in a different direction so we decided to change our name to better suit the new material that we were writing.

4. How long after you formed was it until you played your first live show?

Dave: We were playing live pretty quickly because we had already established ourselves a bit in the local scene so we had some connections already in place.

5. What are your memories of the performance?

Dave: To be honest I have no recollection of our very first show haha. In general we were playing a lot of DIY basement shows and bars around that time so all the shows were really fun and rowdy.

6. How would you categorize the style of the band?

Dave: Progressive death/thrash.

7. Why the name Revocation?

Dave: It was one of the last good one word band names left in the death metal market.

8. Who are your influences and how have they shaped your bands sound?

Dave: We are influenced mainly by a combination of death and thrash. In terms of death metal I was really inspired by bands like Cannibal Corpse, Morbid Angel, Gorguts, Martyr and on the thrash metal side it was bands like Megadeth, Exhorder and Dark Angel. I was listening to both genres heavily and simultaneously when I was in high school and because I was experiencing both genres at the same time I think the lines between them got blurred which is maybe why our sound is such a synthesis of the two.

9. What lyrical theme do you guys use in your music? What message do you want to send?

Dave: We don’t have any one specific theme per-se, but I would say greed, corruption and religion have all been topics that we’ve touched on in different ways throughout our career.

10. Let's talk a little about your newest release, what are the listeners in store for with this release?

Dave: It’s a very dynamic and diverse album. It has both our slowest and fastest songs that we’ve ever done so purely from a tempo standpoint it’s quite unique for us. Most notably though, the new release is a concept record which is something that we’ve never done before.

11. What is the concept behind the album and how did the idea come about?

Dave: The new album is about the folly of man throughout history. We tackle certain subjects like public execution in the 16th century and the conflict between religion and science in the time of Copernicus and Galileo. Other songs on the record deal with issues effecting society in the present day such as corruption in politics or the pollution of our environment. The concept of the record was inspired by a Charles Darwin quote that I had read that states, “If the misery of the poor be caused not by the laws of nature, but by our institutions, great is our sin”.

12. What was the writing and recording process like for the album?

Dave: It was little different since our new drummer lives in Vancouver. He would fly out and we’d rehearse for a few days straight around when we were playing shows in the area or we’d get together over Skype and work out ideas. I feel that since we had to make the most of our time together it really focused us that much more on the task at hand. Ash is also an incredible drummer so I knew I could trust him to really work on his parts on his own time. Other than the drums, the writing process was basically the same as it always is for us on every record. The recording process was also the same as the last album because we worked with Zeuss again and recorded in the same studios. It’s nice when you can feel comfortable in your work environment and Zeuss definitely makes us feel at home, he’s also brilliant at what he does so we were very happy to have him behind the console again for this release.

13. Why do you think people should check out your new album?

Dave: We all collectively feel that it’s our best record yet so if you’re already a fan you won’t be disappointed and if you’re just checking us out for the first time this would be the record to get.

14. Do you have a favorite track off this album and why is that?

Dave: It’s honestly too hard for me too chose. I feel really passionately about all the songs on this record for different reasons, each song has something different to offer musically and lyrically.

15. How do you promote your band and shows?

Dave: A lot of promotion is definitely centered around the internet and social media. The best promotion we experience is right around when a new record comes out so I’m glad we’ve always had a lot of material to work with.

Mindwar's Mike Gives Us the Band's Rundown of How They Do Things

Mindwars has been around for sometime, releasing several albums, playing shows, the usual things, that bands do, when forming, and going through the course of their musical careers. Frontman vocalist/guitarist Mikue Alvord, discusses the band's time together and what the future holds.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

I (Mike - guitar/vocals) met Roby (drums) met in 1989 when Mike was touring with Holy Terror.  We met when we played Milan, Italy.  We have a unique connection in that Roby is from the same area of Italy (Calabria) as my grandparents.  We reconnected in 2013 through Facebook.  We talked about our current involvement with music and thought it might be interesting to start making some music together.  I sent Roby a bunch of material I had written back in 1989 and the early 90's.  He put some drums to it and we both really liked what we were hearing.  We started arranging the material in to songs and soon realized if we want to actually record this material, we would need a bassist and a singer.  Danny "Z" Pizzi (bass) lives in Turin, Italy along with Roby.  He was a perfect fit because he loved the direction in music we were pursuing and since he lived in the same City as the drummer it worked out very well.  I would email them rough songs with guitars only and they would lay down bass and drum tracks.  I would then redo the guitars and add vocals.  It is sort of an unorthodox style for a band, but it works for us.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

We wanted something to connect the band to my former band Holy Terror.  Not to try and pretend we are Holy Terror.  We are anything but not HT.  HT was one of the most unique and different bands of the 80's.  We tossed around a bunch of different names and using the title of HT's second album Mind Wars seemed appropriate.  There are a lot of meaning behind the term mind wars, including mind control, schizophrenia, warfare, and much more.  It seem to also have a lot of relevance in the world today.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

I live in Los Angeles and Roby and Danny live in Italy.  I think the scene is much better in Italy and Europe as a whole.  There is a small scene for newer bands in LA, but unless you are Maiden, Metallica, Sabbath or something similar, you can't expect a tremendous turnout in terms of a fan base.  There are a few small clubs in Los Angeles, Skinny's Lounge in North Hollywood being one of them that supports metal on a regular basis.  Skum Love works for Schecter Guitars and is the lead singer of Skumlove the band and does a great job bringing in bands to SKinny's.

4. How would you describe your style?

Most people describe us as "old school".  We definitely have an old school feel, primarily because of our experiences and background.  There are definite flavors of Holy Terror in our music.  We play fast thrash/speed metal, but we also have different tempos and song styles which have a modern and unique feel.  However, a lot of our music has fast rhythms which is a little different to some of the faster bands of today who mostly rely on fast drums and more "chugging" rhythms.  I guess this is more of an older thrash/speed metal style.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

We have release two full-length albums.  The Enemy Within was our debut which was released in October of 2014.  Our second album Sworn to Secrecy just came came out in April 2016.  Both albums have an 80's thrash/speed metal feel, but there are elements of modern aggression and thrash.  STS is really a more clean and powerful follow up to TEW and both have elements that will remind people of Holy Terror.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

We are currently working on our third album.  We have about 5 semi-complete songs and the style is starting to evolve and take on a new direction.  Don't get me wrong, you will still hear elements of Holy Terror and 80's thrash/speed, but there will be more breaks and dark heavy themes.  We are hopeful to have all the recording complete by the end of the year and have it released by summer 2017.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

We are currently working on setting up a min-Euro Tour for the end of October through the beginning of November of this year.  We are looking to play in Italy, England, Holland, Germany, and maybe in Prague.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

As I mentioned, we are focusing on playing live in Europe in support of Sworn to Secrecy and getting a third release out by next year.  We also hope to play some festivals and additional areas of the US besides California and Arizona.

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

We are currently signed to Punishment 18 Records, so any where they sell their records.  We are also all over the internet through various streaming sites.  Amazon, iTunes, and Google Play also sell our music.  I also heard that there are several torrent sites with our music.  Go get it!!!

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

I would just hope they think of us as something new and refreshing.  Something of the golden age of metal, but something new and heavy.  I hope that are lyrics provoke thought and our music to create energy and revitalization of thrash/speed.  Thank you for your time and interest in Mindwars.  Speed Kills!!!!

Angelspit's Karl Discusses the Cult Of Fake?

Angelspit being active for the past 13 years and counting, has released it's latest and newest album "Cult Of Fake". Which simply takes the harsh sounds of the band, smashing that together with some dance music to create, the unexpected. Frontman vocalist and sonic demolition, Zoog Von Rock or "Karl", discusses this supposed "Cult Of Fake", as well as the band's past and future, which includes a ballistic fall tour!

1. First of all, who are you, and what do you do in the band? It's been 3 years since we last spoke, what has the band been up too between now and then, can you give us a brief summary?

Karl: My name is Karl, my friends call me Zoog. Angelspit has just released our new 12 track album CULT OF FAKE which is takes the harsh sounds of Angelspit and smashes them together with dance music. We're now gearing up for a USA tour in September.

2. Let's talk a little about the history of your band. When did you originally form and is this the original line-up?

Karl: We started in 2003. Angelspit has morphed its line-up from a 2 piece cyberpunk outfit with a drum machine to a 5 piece electro punk band...and every stage in between.

3. How long after you formed was it until you played your first live show?

6 months.

4. What are your memories of the performance?

Karl: Getting drunk in a massive earth removing bucket with my friends from the band TANKT....getting tanked with TANKT...!

5. How would you categorize the style of the band?

Karl: Ballistic electro punk.

6. What lyrical theme do you guys use in your music? What message do you want to send?

Karl: The world is broken. It has always been broken, but if we work together we can make it suck a little less.

7. Can you tell me a little bit about your album "Cult Of Fake"? Who it an actual cult of fake whatever's or just a namesake?

Karl: The term CULT OF FAKE was coined by mass media. It refers to the rise of the fake electronic persona and the new cult of the celebrity. People have always been obsessed with projecting a fake persona, but now it has been taken to an extreme. We are more interested cat videos, selfies and trivial Internet celebrates than healthcare, education and a system that is eating itself.

8. How would you say that "The Product" and "Cult Of Fake" differ, compare, and relate to one another? Would you say that these two albums have a connection in anyway or connection to your previous releases at all?

Karl: THE PRODUCT (2014) is harder industrial/cyberpunk. CULT OF FAKE (2016) is a dance album.
The two albums have similar sounds - as I used more 80's/90's synths and samplers to achieve an old school industrial sound.

9. What can fans expect from the new Angelspit album?

Karl: CULT OF FAKE is a mix of new dance music with industrial electro punk. The music is has an old school industrial feel but with modern dance music production. The lyrics are relevant and political. This is something new, as I have never done an album that focuses on dance music.

10. Do you play live as well? What does your show and touring plans look like.

Karl: Hell yeah! We are hitting 30 cities across America in September. This will be BALLISTIC!

11. What does the rest of this year hold for Angelspit?

Karl: Our USA tour kicks off in September - we are hyped about it! Also, we have launched a patreon where backers will see us push the limits.  New music, new blipverts, plus we will be experiment with live streaming. This will be awesome! Details here:
https://www.patreon.com/angelspit

12. How would you say you differ from other bands and artists on the scene?

Karl: I am not afraid to experiment. I know the audience is smart and willing to hear something new. I do not care about the "marketing expectations" that have been put in place by DJs and labels. Let's do something exciting and different. We are not bound by rules. Rock! Karl - ANGELSPIT.

DEVILISH IMPRESSIONS NEW ALBUM TITLE AND COVER ART REVEALED

Poland’s black / death metal act DEVILISH IMPRESSIONS has set “The I" as the title of its new album, due later in the year. The disc was recorded at several studios, including Dobra 12 Studio and Icaros Studio to eventually get mixed and mastered at Impressive-Art Studio by Przemyslaw Nowak who also handled vocals recording sessions as well as guitars re-amping. The album’s artwork, design and layout were created by Infected Minds.“The I”, a follow-up to the MLP “Adventvs” released last year via Hammerheart Records, is the group’s 4th full-length album and is said to be their darkest, heaviest and most intriguing offering to date…

As commented by the group’s driving force Quazarre of what stands behind the title chosen for their newest record:

“Not only it’s a phonetic acronym of the band’s name (The I = DI) but, above all, it reflects the manifesto we stand for since the horde’s day one, which is the notion of freedom of choice and will, a self-determination that actually places us in a centre of the Universe as we perceive it. A supremacy of an individual over any external factors being imposed on us by others, with special emphasis on religion with its convictions, dogmas and paradigms. “The I” is a rebellious manifesto targeted against all those who stand opposed to anything that drives us towards individual perfection…”

One Day Waiting Releases New Single “Dying for the Truth”

Alt-metal quartet One Day Waiting has released the first single/music video, “Dying for the Truth”, off of their sophomore EP, "Mouthbreather".

"Dying for the Truth" is about people who blindly follow other people, trends and whats currently popular in society. These kinds of people base their lives off the opinion of others, but can't form an opinion of their own. They often contradict what they do and what they say, like a man who bosses his workers around for slacking off, yet the boss is doing exactly that. I believe the music video delivers that message in both a serious and comedic way. - Tyler Kray

YELLOWCARD Announce Last Album and Final World Tour

“When saying farewell, it is hard to know where to start, especially when there are so many reasons not to say it, but the time has come to share this news,” said YELLOWCARD in a unified statement. “After countless discussions and months of thought, we have decided that it is time for Yellowcard to come to an end. This will be our last album and our final world tour.”

With this statement, YELLOWCARD have announced that the band will be releasing their final self-titled album on September 30, 2016 on Hopeless Records and embark on “The Final World Tour”, kicking off on October 6 in San Antonio, TX. “We wanted to have the chance to share our farewell with as many fans around the world as we could, and now is the right time to do just that.”

YELLOWCARD was a very personal journey for the band that was self-produced by Ryan Key and guitarist Ryan Mendez with long-time ally and close friend Neal Avron close by as Executive Producer. “The motivation behind this was to make sure these songs came from a place that was deeply rooted in us,” they explain about taking the reins and crafting it from top to bottom. “We wanted to push ourselves to create a lasting finale for this incredible story on our own. It is also why we chose to self-title the album. We were lucky to still have our friend and mentor, Neal Avron, on board as Executive Producer. We’ve made one of the strongest records of our career and a fitting final creative piece.”

Pre-orders for YELLOWCARD begin today at www.yellowcardrock.com which includes an instant download of the opening track “Rest in Peace”. Pre-sale VIP packages for the tour are also available now. Public on sale will begin June 28th.

As the band spends their summer on the Vans Warped Tour before launching into their final stretch, they are especially appreciative to the fans that have been there every step of the way. “We will be forever grateful to Yellowcard fans all over the world for the opportunities you have given us. We have played shows for nearly two decades on six continents and had the chance to keep recording the music we love year after year. While it is with sadness that we say goodbye, it is with gratitude and amazement that we look back on a career we can be proud of, and were so very lucky to have had.”

YELLOWCARD will be released on September 30, 2016 via Hopeless Records. Yellowcard is Ryan Key (vocals, guitars), Sean Mackin (violins), Ryan Mendez (guitar), and Josh Portman (bass).

TOUR DATES:

Oct. 6 San Antonio, TX The Aztec Theater

The King Must Die's Mike Discusses the Band's latest Album and Future Chances

The King Must Die is a thrash metal band formed in 2011, and operating out of the San Francisco Bay Area out of Northern California. That said, guitarist Mike Sloat, discusses the band's beginning's middle's and end's? Naw, just the future possibilities!

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

Mike: We began in 2011 as a three piece, just to see what would happen and where it went. It started out as myself (Mike Sloat, guitar), with Scott Paterson on Bass and Corky Crossler on Drums. After the songs took shape, Corky brought in his old friend/former bandmate Doggie and he nailed the vocal feel and flow we wanted. Kent Varty became available a few months later (another old friend/former bandmate of Doggie and Corky) and it all just fell into place. Scott and I have played in several bands together since the late 80s, as had Doggie, Corky and Kent.

2. What ’s the origin of the band's name?

Mike: Doggie came up with the name; The "King" represents whatever is an overwhelming negative power in your life or in society in general, and the meaning for us is that you have to take over that power and put it down.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

Mike: We are based out of the north-bay area (Petaluma-Cotati-Santa Rosa), about 50 miles north of San Francisco. I think there's a great scene here right now; lots of variety in music, though we really could use a few more all ages venues. Bands we know and love up here are Infex, Oden Sun, Trial By Combat, Hellbender, Toy Called God, Ancestor's Wrath, Cultural Warfare, Hand on FireÉthere's just so many great bands in the bay area right now!

4. How would you describe your style?

Mike: We all grew up in the San Francisco bay area thrash scene, so that's our base for what we do. All the bands from that era have always been a huge influence on us; Metallica, Testament, Death Angel, Exodus I'd say our style is very much tied to that era, but with a definite modern twist here and there, plus many modern influences, classic rock, metal (Maiden, Priest).

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

Mike: We put out a very rough demo in 2012, but our first album "Sleep Can't Hide The Fear" came out in 2014, and we just released our second album "Murder All Doubt" this past April, 2016. The first album is very "thrashy" and fast, and the second album definitely has more Iron Maiden-style guitar harmonies and a little more melody to a lot of the songs, but still very heavy. We have always done standard guitar tuning, but the new album has our first two Drop-D tuned songs ("In Blood" and "Reflection Spills"), so that's something we'll probably explore a little more on the next album.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

Mike: We're still pushing the new album, since it's only a few months old. Probably by the end of this year we'll start working on new tunes for a third album.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

Mike: We all have full time careers/day jobs, and LOTS of kids among us, so touring is practically impossible with our schedules! We are venturing out more this year and trying to hit places within a few hours of our home base, and getting on bigger local shows. In lieu of that, we're putting out more music videos and lyric videos. My day job is as a video director, so I take the lead on these projects and try to do as much as I can.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

Mike: Another album, more local and regional shows and as many music videos and lyric videos as we can possibly get out, and pushing our writing process and style even further in the next year.

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

Mike: We are on:

Facebook: www.facebook.com/tkmdband
bandcamp: https://tkmdband.bandcamp.com/
CD Baby: http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/thekingmustdie1
CD Baby: http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/thekingmustdie

As well as iTunes and Spotify

10. What is it you'd like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

Mike: I would hope that listeners would hear the wide variety of influences and styles that we take in and turn into what we are; we listen to so much different music, and I think it shows in many of our songs. We feel that we're a very solid, hard working and performing band, and hopefully that energy comes through on our CDs.

The Explorers Club's Jason Brings Back the Era that was Long Ago

The Explorers Club have formulated a style that brings back an era, that once was possible and once lived, a time of the 50's, 60's, with their pop California flare. That said, the band has released a song, video for "California's Callin' Ya" as well as a full-length album "Together". Founder, guitarist, and frontman Jason Brewer discusses the band's latest album, plans to play shows, and why they wanted to take this particular time period and go with it, as themselves.

1. First of all, who are you, and what do you do in the band?

Jason: I am Jason Brewer and I started the band, play guitar, sing, and write the songs (with help from collaborators from time to time).

2. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Jason: A scene in that movie “Life Aquatic”  - Bill Murray’s character is in the famous “EXPLORERS CLUB” building and you see it on a sign in the background of the scene.  It sounded like a good band name.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Jason: The band has been through a lot of members so its rather hard to answer this question.

4. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Jason: Life experiences, love, sounds, classic pop songs, the ocean, all kinds of things!

5. What bands have inspired you the most?

Jason: The Beach Boys, Burt Bacharach, Phil Spector, Jimmy Webb, Abba, Weezer, Superdrag, The Beatles, Wings, Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry, Bob Dylan, The Turtles, the Zombies, Dennis Wilson, Four Freshmen, the Ronnettes, Glen Campbell, Mark Lindsay etc.

6. When first hearing your music, the instant act that popped into my head as The Beach Boys, let alone the 1950s-1960s era, of when my parents were into that style of music, and you guys re-created that, why take this approach and time period for your guys music?

Jason: Our music is based in the pop/rock tradition of that era… it is the sound that most impacted me growing up.   there used to be radio stations that played all the classics from that era and it so greatly inspired me.

7. What is it about that time period, for you that just resonates with you as individuals and as musicians? Why do you think, there aren't any other bands, going down this path? It looks like you guys MIGHT be the only act doing this type of genre, aside from the originals who started before you.

Jason: Well, I think you are right — In a way that gives us an advantage too… this type of music is very hard to accomplish well.  It is very intricate and specific.  When it is done correctly it can really blow people away.  We have always wanted to continue in the tradition of classic pop that has influenced us and we feel like we are doing a great job so far. ;)

8. Do you see this style to make a comeback, having other acts following through or you think this time period is pretty much dead and gone for the most part, as other styles of music is more of the modern era.

Jason: I feel like this sound will never go away… if it is done right then it will always connect.

9. What's your take on "Together" as a whole?

Jason: I feel like it is our best album to date.  It has a cool sound overall… blends the old with some more modern leanings in some spots and has this overwhelming vocal blend that really stands out.

10. What's the story behind the song and video for "California's Callin' Ya"?

Jason: Well the song was a little love letter to my favorite place to visit — Southern California.  The video had to match the theme.  I wrote it with my friend Emeen — we wanted to capture the classic California vibe and our mutual friend Casey Curry brought the visual part to life with his great video!

11. Is it important for you to paint visual pictures with the songs?

Jason: Yes sometimes — a lot of our songs can take you to a warm and sunny place with sometimes sad overtones.

12. What would be the cinematic equivalent of "Together"?

Jason: That's a good question…

13. What's your favorite song on the album right now?

Jason: "Before I’m Gone".

14. Do you play live as well? How do you promote your band and shows?

Jason: We are getting ready to play several gigs coming up at the end of June into July.  We like to play live as well as use our social media to promote the band.

15. Can you describe your show, visual and musically for us?

Jason: We try our best to sing great and play all the right parts.  we are more worried about the sound than the SHOW aspect really. We want to sound GREAT.

16. Tell us about your next shows and why we should be there.

Jason: You should come see us play at:

6/29 - Asheville NC Grey Eagle
6/30 - Sellersville PA Sellersville Theater
7/1 - Jersey City NJ Monty Hall
7/2 - Vintage Vinyl Fords NJ
7/2 - Rockwood Music Hall NYC
7/3 - Pro re Nata Brewery - Crozet VA

You should be there to hear GREAT harmony singing and fun music!

17. What does the rest of this year have in-store for you guys?

Jason: Hopefully a lot of success with our new album TOGETHER!

18. Do you have any last words for fans, or potential new fans?

Jason: If you want to be knocked out by great songs and exciting vocal and musical moments then pick up our new album TOGETHER at any record store or on iTunes!

Incentive's Rory Talks New Music is Coming and Touring Plans as Well!

Incentives has been around since 2013, releasing music, playing shows, and has further plans, on releasing new music, playing more shows and perhaps touring. Guitarist Rory discusses how the band gets started, and what's the latest news in terms of new music and future activity.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

Rory: So the band has had a heap of changes to members over the years, but its consisted primarily of the three “original” members (Kyle, Max and myself). However our current line up isn’t going anywhere which we are all incredibly thankful for. It started it out with Max (guitar) and myself (guitar) wanting to form a band. We went to high school together and always went to shows, and shared music with each other so it was a natural progression. Kyle (the vocalist), went to primary school with me and I knew he was into the same sort of music so I hit him up! It kinda just snowballed from there. Jeremy (bass) joined later on, I knew him through uni and he was super keen to play! And Joe (drums) hit us up on Facebook and we all gelled so that was that!

2. What is the origin of the band’s name?

Rory: We were looking to book out a rehearsal space, and were pressured into deciding right then and there, so I decided on incentives for no particular reason. It had a nice ring and somewhat, of a decent meaning, so we went for it. I think we planned on changing it, but it kinda grew on us.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

Rory: So a few of the band members are from Interstate, but we are based out of Melbourne! We are blessed to have such a thriving music scene, with heaps of amazing talent either up-coming or established. Melbourne is full of talented bands to check out, including ocean grove, void of vision, sentinel, arkive, harbours etc. The list is endless!

4. How would you describe your style?

Rory: I'd say we are kind of like a melodic metalcore band for lack of a better term. We love our groove and bouncy riffs which are some what “Djent”. But then we are also massive fans of endless amount of melody and emotive song writing. We’ve got the tech, but we’ve also got the heart haha.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

Rory: At the moment we have out a really old two track, followed by two singles “Absence” and “Self-Decay”. We then recently dropped a new single called “Corrode”which everyone should check out. As far as what someone can expect, I'd have to say a heap of melody, feels, and groove.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

Rory: For sure! “Corrode” is off our upcoming EP which drops June 30th. The EP is called “Dusk”so keep an eye out for it.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

Rory: We’ve got some shows coming up around Melbourne in the next month, and maaaybe a little bit of touring in Australia but who knows? ;)

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

Rory: We just hope that we can share our music with as many people as we can! It would be so awesome to one day head to Europe or the U.S and play shows over there. Even if we don’t get overseas, it would just be sick to play somewhere like festival hall, or unify!

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

Rory: All of our stuff is up on YouTube, which is free to view of course. We are also on bandcamp and soundcloud, all our music is up for free! So go nuts and download. Our Ep will have some physical copies as well, which are now up for pre-order if anyone is keen to support the band!

10. What is it you'd like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

Rory: I'd say the overall emotion of the song! Whether it by some sort of relation to the lyrics, or just the flow of the song writing. As long as people can dig it, and feel a connection that's all we want.
