Death In Paradise Discloses Matters on New Single and Even Newer Tunes!

Emotional swagger mixer-uppers DEATH IN PARADISE have their new single out, and are always constantly writing all new material expected soon enough! With that, they hope to release their new album come next year, and play shows as well as touring as much as possible! The band discloses all of these matters and more below.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

I am originally from Trinidad and Tobago, a place where their main culture and music is carnival, calypso and soca.....in which I never felt a connection or a sense of belonging.

When I was 8 years old....I heard  "appetite for destruction"  for the first time and it changed my life forever...to cut a long story short...after many shows, travels, experiences...came the songs..

And after meeting my drummer Anton Aatamila,   I felt like I was meeting an extension of me,  two peas in a pod...I remember him telling me two things after our second rehearsal... 1. he'd never been in a band where he was asked to play harder and louder and 2. he never sweat that much in a set! haha...that was the closing deal.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

This brings me back to the initial essence of where I am from....many people  see the Caribbean as paradise, but beyond the beauty, sun and ocean, there is still corruption, murders and crime everyday happening there...Life certainly hasn't been easy for me also...actually a lot of the times I am surprised I am still alive.. Its also really hard wanting to tour and do much more musically when you are from an island!

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

At the moment, Death in Paradise is based in Lisbon, Portugal...when I first got here to record, after spending time and playing shows in London.... I was surprised to see the rich amount of art and music occurring. A girlfriend of mine at the time who is Portuguese put me onto bands like "Legendary Tiger Man" and "Ornatos Violeta"....there are also a lot of young new underground bands  like "Lord of Confusion",  a lot of them are total wankers though I must admit...but...I would also recommend checking out "Orange Sky" and "Gary Hector" who are from the same country I am from.

4. How would you describe your style?

Emotion mixed with swag mixed with overdrive.

5. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

So far, we've released our first single "Closer" , with The Animal Farm Label. As far as expectations go...well, I believe we are just being real to ourselves...we can't be anything else but this...what you hear is what it is.

6. Do you have any new music in the works?

I am always excited when someone asks me questions like this....I am constantly writing.

7. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

At the moment...we are in rehearsal, we badly want to play live,  and tour our asses off.

8. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

We hope to release the album "Sacrificing the Goat" early next year and tour the UK....we want to play festivals also. Record, put out records and tour everywhere.

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

Our single is on Spotify and other major platforms. stuff like merchandise like t-shirts and stuff are all in the pipeline after we release the album.

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

The feelings, connection to the songs and raw energy in the music.
