Black metal documentary BLACKHEARTS to priemere at CIMMfest

It hasn't been that long since the makers of black metal documentary Blackhearts promised crowd funders the chance to purchase a piece of producer Christian Falch's soul, a Skype phone call from Darkthrone’s Nocturno Culto, or rare collectibles from Abbath, Emperor, Enslaved, Satyricon and many more. After a widely acclaimed closed private screening at this year's Inferno Metal Festival in Norway, Blackhearts is ready to be unveiled to the world at CIMMFest in Chicago, April 15, 8:30 pm at The Logan Theatre, where the filmmakers will be present to introduce the film. The afterparty will be taking place at Lockdown Bar & Grill at 1024 N Western Ave starting at 10 pm until late.

Blackhearts takes a fresh look at the notorious Norwegian black metal music scene, but from a striking new angle. The documentary follows three very different black metal diehards from South America, Europe and the Middle East on an adventure through Norway. All three protagonists hail from extreme religious and political backgrounds, and the contrasts in their lives bring issues within the genre to light.

The story of Sina's oppression at the hands of the Iranian government questions the role of authority in dictating what defines art; on the other end lies Kaiadas, a government oppressor who is a member of Greece's neo-fascist political party The Golden Dawn by day and black metal musician by night. In the middle, we have Hector, a devoted Satanist and frontman for the Colombian black metal band Luciferian. Also featured in the film are Norwegian black metallers Keep Of Kalessin, Nocturno Culto from Darkthrone, Destructhor from Myrkskog/Zyklon/ex-Morbid Angel and Tjalve from Den Saakaldte/ex-1349.

Hector, Kaiadas, and Sina are willing to risk alienation, imprisonment – even death – to play black metal and live by its ideology. Their stories will move anyone who's interested in any sort of artistic expression. Come see what their journey reveals about the human condition at this year's CIMMFest.
