August 2015

Metal act The World Over have released a debut EP with plans on following that up with a debut full-length but in the meantime, they released a new single and accompanying video and some show time playing here and there as well. The band got together to discuss their past, present, and future activity and what it holds for The World Over.

1. First of all, who are you, and what do you do in the band?

We are The World Over! :)

Tiare - vocalist and anime specialist
Aaron - vocalist and science guy
Donovan - bassist and getaway car driver
Anthony - drummer and master of beard
Ryan - guitarist and smooth talker

2. Let's talk a little about the history of the band. When did you originally form and is this the original line-up?

We originally formed in May 2013 under a different name, but soon became the World Over and have since adopted the lineup we have now. We think its a winning combination.

3. Do you remember how the idea of forming the band first came up?

Most of us went to school together, and there were no other metal bands in the music school (or in the area at all!) We knew we had to fix that!

4. How long after you formed was it until you played your first live show?

Our first show was about 6 months after originally forming.

5. What are your memories of the performance?

We remember the crowd being really into it, and it was wonderful to feel that energy for the first time.

6. Speaking of performances, how's your live activity been going so far?

It's been great - We're looking forward to an upcoming show at the Whiskey (Hollywood) at the end of September!

7. Can you describe your live performance for those who have never seen you live?

Our performances are very high energy, with a demand for crowd participation.

8. Do you have a favorite song you like to play live?

Our new single, "Eulogy," is a ton of fun to play live, and we're very proud of it!

9. How would you categorize the style of the band?

"Street style metal" is an easy way to sum it up, we suppose.

10. What bands have influenced your band and its sound?

Our main influences are Issues, Volumes, Periphery, A Day to Remember, and Michael Jackson.

11. What lyrical theme do you guys use in your music? What message do you want to send?

Lyrically, we want to send a message of overcoming adversity.

12. Are you guys signed or unsigned?

We are an independent metal band that don't need no man.

13. If you aren't signed why take the DIY approach to releasing your content and material?

Honestly, we are DIY because we have to be. We would love to team up with a label in the future, providing the setup is workable for all parties.

14. Do you hope to one day get signed on or prefer the other way to do things the way you want too?

Yes! Being signed would enable us to focus more on our strengths, chiefly the music itself.

15. You guys went ahead and released a debut EP titled "Rampart District" that's seeing it's 1 year release soon. Will you be celebrating in any shape, way, or form?

Hell yeah! Celebrations include alcohol, tithes, and weed.

16. Besides that release, you went and released a new single and video for a new song called “EULOGY”. Why wasn't this song included on the EP release? Can  we expect to hear it on an upcoming release instead?

"Eulogy" was the first song we've written with the new band lineup - We'll most likely be including it as past of our next release.

17. Have you guys written or recorded any other new material as of late? When can we hear the new tunes from you guys?

We've been steadily writing in preparation of more recording! Stay tuned and follow us online to stay in the know. :)

18. You also released not one, but two, music videos one for "Swervewolf" and then "Eulogy". Is that a process you enjoy? Will you be releasing more videos in the coming future?

We definitely enjoyed the music video process! When we have our next album release, it will be accompanied by a new video as well.

19. How did you guys come up with your band name?

"The World Over" was meant to represent not just how we are from all different places, but also how the story of struggle is a universal theme we all share in. In sharing our struggles through our music, we hope to embolden others to overcome their own battles.

20. Did you know your band's initials are TWO? Like you know the number two? Does that relate to anything dealing with the band or just a funny occurrence that happened?

WAIT, WUT?

21. Where can our readers find your band on the internet?

22. How has Social Networking (Facebook,Twitter, etc.) impacted your band?

Social networking definitely helps us engage with listeners and fans. We also love all the pictures of cats on social media. It brings us strength in times of turmoil, and faith for a new day. #showmeyourkitties

23. What does the next year hold for you and your band?

In the next year, we're looking forward to headlining our first world tour, a sponsorship by Monster, and an rsvp to Drake's X-mas party. Well, we can dream, amirite?

24. Do you have any last words for fans, or potential new fans?

We ain't got no type. Jk. Swipe right always.

Last Red Ransom formed during the late 2000's in which they wrote and recorded material for their debut album "Sleep Well Sweet Vanity". Following this release would be the band playing live shows, studio sessions, with continuation of them writing and recording further material for the follow-up release "Snubnose".

This time around "Snubnose" has Last Red Ransom going deeper into the electronic and industrial aspect than the rock format which makes this release that more interesting. Like take such songs as "The Electric Sky [Digital Sunshine]" this opener really expresses the band's skill and style set together. The vocals and instrumentals really work well with one another, never missing a beat between one another if it were. Other songs like "Burning Buildings", "Been Dead Before", and "The Living Trust" all mix in together, having a similarity to one another, allowing them to sound creative and well crafted but similar as said which isn't a bad thing.

Last Red Ransom's sophomore and follow-up effort that is "Snubnose" is a solid release, that brings out their creativity ever so further, it embraces that electronic and industrial appeal more so than it should, making their music be catchy and rather well rounded.

Cellist artist Tina Guo has taken her exceptional talent to a whole another level by taking on the metal music genre with her classical aspect to create a head banger's ball of tunes. Many various artists appear on "Cello Metal" to help her create the uniqueness and creativity that can only be Tina Guo. In fact, Tina Guo herself discusses her take on the metal genre and insight into her musical background and future plans.

1. Introduce yourself, tell me what you do as Tina Guo?

Tina: Hi! I'm a musician- I compose, and play acoustic and electric cello.

 2. How would you categorize the style of the music that you play?

Tina: I play a lot of different styles but classical and industrial metal are my specialties. :)

3. Who or what inspired you to become a musician, what is your musical background?

Tina: My parents are both music teachers and I was roped into the family trade. :D

4. What are your songs about? What specific themes do they cover?

Tina: I've written a lot of songs about love- longing for it, breakups, the usual.  On my latest album, Cello Metal, the original songs are inspired by spirituality and power.

5. Do you write your own songs? Discuss the songwriting process in detail.

Tina: Yes, I write my own songs and also collaborate with others.  Many of my more classical/new age compositions are written in a stream of consciousness way where I just push record and start playing.  For the 'Cello Metal' album, I collaborated with my friend and producer Frank Klepacki on three of the songs and we actually did everything remotely, I sent files to him, he would add things and send it back to me, we went back and forth and that was the songwriting process for those.

6. What is your latest album and why should people buy it?

Tina: My latest release Cello Metal is an album I've wanted to do for the past 10 years, it's my first full length industrial metal album and I would love for people to hear it!  If you love metal, instrumental music, industrial music, or cellos, I think it may be interesting.

7. You’re known for your talent as a classical artist but have switched gears to take on the metal genre, why go from classical to metal, let alone combing the two together?

Tina: I've been playing classical and metal for over a decade, touring with other artists and recording on a lot of projects but this is my first full length album in the Metal genre.  I have 7 other albums out in classical/cinematic genres.

8. Do you have any favorite metal musicians, that you have taken a liking to the most?

Tina: My favorite bands are Rammstein and Metallica, as well as Apocalyptica of course because they're the original cello metal pioneers!

9. Why did you pick out the metal acts that you did for "Cello Metal"?

Tina: I went through the classic metal songs and just picked ones that I really loved and would make sense somewhat without vocals or lyrics!

10. Will we be seeing another metal style release just like this one in the future or was this release a one-time effort?

Tina: I hope to do more metal style albums in the future, my next album is called Hollywood's Greatest Themes which will feature my covers of well-known TV and Movie themes including Gladiator, Last of the Mohicans, Game of Thrones, and more.  I love cinematic music because there is no limit on genre and it really encompasses every style.

11. What's the story behind Queen Bee,  and why did it win an award for being the Best Short Film/Music Video at the Downtown Los Angeles Film Festival?

Tina: Queen Bee was my first music video, I don't know why it won the award but you should check it out on YouTube! It's still my favorite video I've done so far. <3 nbsp="" p="">
12. You have appeared in film, TV and video games, how were you able to get the chance at those opportunities and will we be seeing more of them?

13. What are your current show/tour plans, if any?

Tina: Coming up, I'm performing at the Fortune Global Forum as well as concerts with Nathan Pacheco, an amazing classical crossover singer in Miami with a full symphony.  I'm excited about January when I'll be playing the Saint-Saens Concerto and Haydn Concerto in Texas and Northern California, and touring with Joe Bonamassa including 2 concerts at Carnegie Hall that will air on PBS.  I'm also going to be touring with Hans Zimmer in his live concert series- we're currently recording and writing for 2 movie projects, and I'm typing this from Warner Brothers during a break!

14. Can you describe your live performance for those who have never seen you live?

Tina: Depends on the music I'm playing but there are lots of live videos on my YouTube page.

15. What one item do you have to have with you out on the road that you can't live without?

Tina: Good hair conditioner.

16. Do you have a favorite song you like to play live?

Tina: Flight of the Bumble Bee is always fun and seems to get a good reaction from the audience, no matter what genre/style I play it in.

17. What's your favorite city/venue to play in the world?

Tina: I played once in a medieval church in Nantes (France) with fantastic natural reverb- I love reverb!

18. Tell us about your thought on your local music scene?

Tina: I'm actually not that involved in the local scene in LA because I'm constantly traveling for shows elsewhere- I did recently do my record release show at Bar Sinister which was great and the venue reached maximum capacity- I love that place!  I also jammed at Ultimate Jam Night at Lucky Strike Live which was really fun!

19. Are there any new and upcoming bands that you are into?

Tina: I recently met my bass player's girlfriend Kokoro, and I watched some of her music videos which are amazing!

20. Why do you think people are into your music?

Tina: Insanity? Boredom?

21. What does the next year hold for you as far as plans?

Tina: Lots of recordings and finishing my TV/Movie Theme album, and starting my next album which will be music from Video Games- also a lot of touring and live performance.

22. Where can our readers find your band on the internet?

Tina: At the following websites;

www.TinaGuo.com

https://www.YouTube.com/user/demix500

www.Facebook.com/TinaGuoMusic

www.Instagram.com/TinaGuoCello

www.Twitter.com/TinaGuo

 23. How has Social Networking (Facebook, Twitter, etc.) impacted your band?

Tina: I love social networking and doing it all personally- it's my main outlet!

24. Do you have any last comments or words of advice for aspiring musicians and people trying to get into the business?

Tina: Be kind and nice to everyone! Stay humble, work hard (I remind myself that whenever I'm not working/practicing, someone else is) and try to be communicative and easy-going.  Be organized and have a healthy sense of self-worth, but flexible.

25. Is that your final answer?

Tina: Thank you! xo

Feed The Rhino have released a new video for "Featherweight". The video was created by filming on 6 Go-Pro cameras that were fixed together, so the whole room could be shot simultaneously. The editing process required seamless "stitching" of the footage from all 6 cameras, which wraps around to create a 360˚ field of vision. This revolutionary new music video technique has only been done a handful of times (Björk, Fort Minor) and lets the viewer inside the chaotic world of a Feed The Rhino performance. Smart Phone Users* are able to use their phone's motion sensor to move the camera around as if they were standing in the room with the band. Audiences viewing from a computer can simply use the cursor icon in the top left corner to pan around the performance. Check out the video HERE.

Indie pop rocker Ryan Ewing will be releasing his new album "Mixed Signals" and he's already released a hit single called "Down We Go" with plans to release more new music, play shows, tour, and so much more! Ryan Ewing himself discusses his new album and plans ahead.

1. Why did you want to go and name this act after yourself Ryan Ewing?

Ryan: For starters, I mean…what a name, right? All credit to my mom.  I thought about doing the Dashboard/Rocket Summer thing where I start out trying to trick people, but for better or worse, this whole project is just me, so it seemed to fit. Plus, Hoobastank was already taken. Full disclosure, I did consider something somewhere between the two and calling it Ryan Ewing and the Ryan Ewings, which sounds narcissistic, but it's like saying your name twice so that people remember it…and it would stand out on a poster…and it tells the story…and now, I'm starting to think I totally should have.

2. Who are your musical and non-musical influences?

Ryan: My musical influences vary like a radio station. I guess I have to accept the comparisons I get from The Script to JET to The Goo Goo Dolls, but I grew up on a steady diet of Elvis and The Beatles. Non-musical influences? For this record, I'd say my lady, Superman, and Walk The Line…though, I guess that movie is fairly musical.

3. What are your songs about? What specific themes do they cover?

Ryan: Obviously, each track has its own story, but the entirety of the record is about the changing seasons of faith, hope, and love. I wanted that cyclical concept to be the theme, with the song "Wake Up" as a foil to "Lights Out." The last few lines of each are "quit looking for a sign" vs. "show me a sign," and the idea was to start the record with "Wake Up" and end with "Lights Out" to create a sort of cycle. However, once I finished recording "Lights Out," it became very evident that it couldn't wait until the end of the record.

4. Do you write your own songs? Discuss the songwriting process in detail.

Ryan: I did write all the songs with the one exception of "Ain't Lookin'" which was co-written with Kato Khandwala, producer of Paramore and The Pretty Reckless. The writing process is always its own adventure. I've woken up with a melody in my head that I paired with lyrics I already had in waiting, I've sat down at a piano and written a song in half an hour ("Tumbling After"), and then I've slaved over a song for months…assembling parts like Frankenstein ("Lights Out"). I try to remain vague enough that people can relate it to their own experiences, but some of it is brutally honest, and if something sounds too specific to be made up, you can assume it wasn't. It's like an embellished biopic and I'm playing myself.

5. How do you describe your music to people?

Ryan: How I describe it is probably different than how my publicist would like…I should probably just say pop rock here, because I can get all self-deprecate-y pretty fast, but I'll say I think of it as vanthems, which is a word I just coined. It's the kind of music that can unite the whole van…from the soccer mom in the front to the 5-15yr olds in the back…to the dad who rolls his eyes, but secretly likes it. Taylor Swift writes vanthems. Man, I am digging this word. I think it's the title for the next album…

6. What is your latest album and why should people buy it?

Ryan: My latest album, MIXED SIGNALS, is by far my best to date. It is also my first. People should buy it, because it's illegal to steal it, and then you have to pay the RIAA or you go to jail, and just try to get a job when you get out, because it's already hard out there as it is, and you realize being in prison was better than being alone on the streets, so you have to do something that will guarantee a life sentence, you don't want to, but you know you have to, and now you have to look the victim's family in the eye, and you go to solitary, but it's okay because you have all these books, but then your glasses break, and…just buy it.

7. What's your take on "Mixed Signals" as a whole?

Ryan: Well, the album title refers to a few things. For one, I played all the instruments, so on a surface level, it is quite literally mixed audio signals. Secondly, the first track "Down We Go" is about how God gave us things like sex and music and “Rock and Roll” represents the way we kind of twist them. That’s where the album art comes in with the strings and the scissors. Free will says that we chose to cut them, but at the same time, we were pre-destined to cut them. Someone’s pulling the strings and placing the scissors…so we're being sent mixed signals. Lastly, as I mentioned, songs like “Wake Up” and “Lights Out” seem to be almost contradictory, so I’m giving mixed signals as much as I’m getting, I guess.   As for my take on the album as a whole? I'd say it's a fair representation of me as a whole. You may or may not like me once you get to know me, but you at least gotta respect the gumption.

8. What's your favorite song on the album right now?

Ryan: There's some fun ones, but "Lights Out" means the most to me. Here's where Walk The Line comes in. There's a scene where Johnny auditions for Sun Records, and after failing to impress with an old gospel tune, he is asked a question that stuck with me. "If you were…dying, and you had time to sing one song…that would let God know what you thought about your time here on Earth, one song that would sum you up, you're telling me that's the song you would sing? Or would you sing something different, something real, because…that's the kind of song that truly saves people." Of all the songs I've ever written, THAT is what "Lights Out" is for me. It's a confession and a concession. It opens with just the quiet acoustic accompanying my voice, because I wanted it to feel very personal.

9. Is it important for you to paint visual pictures with the songs?

Ryan: I studied film, and am a visual artist by day, so the short answer is absolutely. For any artist, I think the hope is to express yourself in a way that your audience can share in the experience as much as possible. But beyond that, specifically with visual pictures, I start to get real nerdy. I often experience chromesthesia, a form of synesthesia where one associates sound with color, to the point I can often tell you the key of a song based upon the color I see. A song in A-major, like "Gone" for instance, is usually red…and in a weird way, I think that shapes the song for me. Our twelve-note scale is called the chromatic scale (as in color), and our color wheel is usually divided by twelve, and I could go on forever about all this, but it gets weird, so I'll save it for another time. Yes. I want to paint pictures- ha.

10. What would be the cinematic equivalent of "Mixed Signals"?

Ryan: Pssh- EASY. Superman 2. Both start with a flashback to a time when the hero was a baby, then flashforward to a peppy fanfare, and the protagonist gives into desire (Down We Go). Then the protagonist realizes he's meant to be more (Nothing to Lose), but his fortress is dark and he can't hear his celestial father's voice (Lights Out). He fights to save his lady and city (Hero),…I could go on, but you get it. It's actually a perfect soundtrack. I may have to do a mash-up of all this. Maybe it synchs up like Dark Side of the Moon and The Wizard of Oz.

11. What are your current show/tour plans, if any?

Ryan: I played an acoustic show last week for the album release, but I should probably get a band stat. If you are in the NYC area and want to be my band, meet me on top of the Empire State Building.

12. What does the next year hold for you?

Ryan: Just grinding. I mean like pushing the record, not like…up in da club. Though, there may be a little of both. A year is a long time…

13. Anything else you'd like to say or want to add?

Ryan: Vanthems is so fetch.

Twenty years have almost come full circle for the metal act known as Soufly. Through the course of their musical careers the band has released its tenth album to date, with plans on playing it in full, along with touring restlessly, as well as writing new material in between. Frontman vocalist/guitarist Max Cavalera discusses the band's tenth album, new material, touring, with other topics covered as well.

1. First off, would you mind telling me the story as to how the band came up with its name Soulfly? Does it actually have to deal with a soul and a fly?

Max: No, the name comes from a song I did with the Deftones, on their second record "Around the Fur" called "Headup". On this song I made up the words soulfly and it's kind of a Brazilian belief  that when the Indians are playing music, they feel the souls of their ancestors flying around them. So that's kind of the idea of where the name comes from, when we make music, we feel the presents of our ancestors flying around us. So that is why we are called Soufly.

2. You guys have been a band for almost 20 years, do you have an idea as to how you may be celebrating when that time comes?

Max:  I don't know yet. I'm not too caught up on those date things, there are too many of those these days ya know? Ten year anniversary thing, I barely remember my own Birthday. The other day I was asked how old I was going to be, and I did not know, I thought I was 45 but it turned out I was 46. I had almost got that wrong. When the right time comes, and we feel good, we can do something special about it. Something like maybe a tour. I like to keep going, looking more to the future than the past, more of a present and future kind of guy.

3. A lot of bands have gone and performed certain releases, in their entirety, will you guys being doing such a thing or is that not your thing?

Max: Like play a whole record? Yeah that's actually what we are going to do on our next tour at the end of September.  We are going to play the whole "Archangel" album  first then play the Soufly favorite songs after that. I am excited for that, I think it's a cool record to do that with and I think people are going to like it.

4. Speaking of releases, you are on your tenth album to date, did you ever think that Soulfly would have reached this milestone in their musical careers?

Max: No it's crazy and it came real fast too. For me, it feels like the first record just came out only yesturday. But it's been a long time since 98, I am excited and it's cool, I think this is the first band that I have done more records with than any other band, even Sepultura. It's  a long career and I am proud of the record, I think all of them have a different vibe, and it shows me in a different state of mind, from all of the years. The thing I am most proud of is that the band became heavier, darker, more aggressive, on the last couple of years, which is the opposite of what people expect, when you become older, you become soft, making more softer music. That did not happen to me, I like more extreme music, listening to the more extreme music, I want to play more extreme music, I love the energy that this music gives me. Like, something I am always searching for.

5. Since you have so many albums, does it keep getting more difficult to put together a setlist?

Max: This idea of playing the whole "Archangel" album first, then the Soulfly hits after that, it made it a little bit easier. It makes the setlist a little bit easier, because all of the main Soufly songs you can just go to Spotify and see what people like, it will be all of the Soulfly hits, "Eye for an Eye", "Prophecy", "Primitive", "Rise of the Fallen", so we are going to play all of those favorite songs for the fans. Then play the whole "Archangel" so I think everybody is going to be happy at the end of the day.

6. When you headline do you change things up and switch songs from show to show?

Max: No I don't let it stay the same way, because it becomes very boring. I change one or two songs night by night and try different things. What I like to do, is start a tour with certain songs, then a week later, add stuff people aren't expecting. By doing that you keep it interesting and exciting. It's not a routine like a factory routine.

7. What's your favorite city/venue to play in the U.S?

Max: The U.S. I like the Marquee Theatre in Phoenix, Arizona, I like all of the House of Blues those are all amazing venues. The Masquerade in Georgia is great, The Gas Monkey in Texas, there's a lot of really cool venues in the states. I think in general I love touring in the states. I love the cities, I always look forward to the U.S. tours. Like the trunk stop at 2 in the morning is always fun haha.

8. A Sepultura reunion isn't likely to happen, but wouldn't you want to do it anyway, just to shut everyone up, that way they won't bother you about it anymore?

Max: That would be great if that were the case right? I would hope, it would be that easier but it's not. It's not just up to me, it's up to other guys too. I don't think it's going to happen, I think they are too hard headed, I am going to be hearing it for the rest of my life, on my last day of Earth, there is going to be somebody asking me about the reunion, I will be on my death bed, "There is no godamn reunion leave me alone".

9. Would you ever consider doing a tour where Soulfly, Cavalera Conspiracy, your stepson's act Incite, and Sepultura all toured together?

Max: I would, it wouldn't bother me, I think the fans would like that. I don't know how friendly it would be between us, have to check on that. But you know we do actually have something quite similar, it's called the Maximum Cavalera Tour. Which is Soulfly, Incite, we try to have Cavalera Conspiracy but it hasn't been done yet. But we would like to have Cavalera Conspiracy be a part of it in the future.  I am hoping it will happen. We are also trying to expand the Maximum Cavalera Tour with guests, like some bands that we like, that have been involved with me like Cattle Decapitation or Nails or King Parrot or Fear Factory, or something like that would be kind of cool to do.

10. Will we ever be hearing Soulfly or Cavalera Conspiracy taking their material and turning it into the acoustic format?

Max: I don't know, I am not in there yet. I am still connected to circle pits, I am not ready to unplug yet. Maybe in another 10 years, or in 10 years I will answer that differently.

11. How about a live album or DVD, are either of those in the works for either Soulfly or Cavalera Conspiracy?

Max: I think that will be Soulfly's next thing. I think now that we have ten albums, we can do a really cool live album or DVD. For me, it has to be in a very, very, exotic place. I wouldn't be happy if it was done in like live in New York or live in London, everybody does that, so it would have to be an exotic place, if it does happen in the future.

12.What does the next year hold for you and your band?

Max: A lot of touring, we have another European tour in January for three months, then festivals, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, try to go to South America again, and another North American tour. Then write a little bit of new material for another new album to be out in a couple of years.

13. Do you have any last comments or words to the listeners out there?

Max: No, I would just like to thank them for the support, I cannot wait to play "Archangel" for them, I can't wait for the tour to start in September, it's a great package, everybody should show up, it's a great night of metal and thank you for your support.

Rock upstarts, From Ashes To New, have released an innovative new lyric video for their track "Through It All" from their upcoming debut album Day One. This 2016 band to watch, will release their Better Noise Records (ESMG) debut, full-length album in early 2016. Check out the song HERE.

Moccasin Creek does what they want, when they want it's how they do things. They have written and recorded tunes, and are currently on the road with further plans for newer music, and even more road playing. Frontman vocalist and founder of the group Jeff "Brahma Bull" McCool discusses his band, touring activity, and current events happening in today's society.

1. First of all, who are you, and what do you do in the band?

Jeff: Jeff "Brahma Bull" McCool. I'm the frontman and founder of Moccasin Creek. I am also the primary song writer and lyricist for the band, and handle the majority of our development, promotional and publishing work. Moccasin Creek started as a "do-it-yourself" style band and we learned that nothing less than back breaking hard work leads to success in the music industry. And right now, our efforts are definitely paying off!

2. Charlie Bonnet III had said he had co-founded Moccasin Creek, that had lasted for around four years, before a lack of proper management and business structure came in and destroyed it. Can you elaborate on this matter?

Jeff: There is a major difference between a "founder" and an original member. After he left Big Smo's band, I asked him to play guitar and sing some of the lyrics on what was to be my first solo album. After I took Charlie to Florida to record what would become "Allowed To Be Loud". (The first Moccasin Creek full length album), I decided to continue working with him. Essentially, Charlie became the first band member to join Moccasin Creek. Initially, Moccasin Creek worked with a management company in Florida. However, for the 2 1/2 years, Moccasin Creek has been managed by the same person, Daphe Mitchell, who has been, and continues to be, the backbone of the Creek from a business, agency and management standpoint. I guess that's why I was so surprised to see Chuck's statement about the destruction of the Creek. I'm pretty sure that if improper management were in place, we wouldn't be playing more live shows than ever, selling more records than ever, and recently signed with Average Joe's Entertainment. Without GREAT management, none of this would be possible.

3. How did you and Charlie come together in the first place? Where did the idea for Moccasin Creek come into play?

Jeff: I met Charlie while I was working with Big Smo. I've always wanted to express my words and ideas in the musical arena. Moccasin Creek was always my dream - way before I met Charlie. Smo is a great friend and encouraged me to pursue my dreams. Charlie needed some work at the time I was ready to record my album, so I asked him to work with me on my initial project. After the initial EP, we decided to keep working together until he decided to leave the band last year. We just regrouped, added Ronnie Davis and continued hammering away.

4. Would you ever want him to back and play for Moccasin Creek again, or is that time dead and gone?

Jeff: I have to say Charlie made it pretty clear he was cutting off any future opportuniies to play with the Creek. He made his choice to head out on his own, and we chalked it up as the end of his era. He's been pushing his issues legally and now social media, but I guess those questions need to be taken up with our lawyers! LOL! Right now, Moccasin Creek is full speed ahead!

5. How do you describe your music to people?

Jeff: I don't necessarily like to compare our sound to other artist's, but it's hard to not mention your major influences. I grew up an "old school" hip hop fan as well as a huge southern rock fan, so those influences are easily heard in my music. We are an amped up version of an early Kid Rock mixed with a little Beasties and Skynyrd. We are politically incorrect by today's standards, but we only speak of what we know, and what we live. If you have never fired a gun, don't sing about one. If you've never gotten piss drunk, spent days in the woods, lived recklessly, and all of the other stereotypes that come with the "Low life, backwoods, redneck, small town southern bred lifestyle", don't sing about it! People will eventually see through it. Be real. I may not be the best mechanic, have the steadiest hand, or get drunk EVERY night, but I don't write about what I don't know about. If I don't know enough about the subject matter or lived it enough to feel comfortable spreading it to the masses, I don't write or sing about it.

6. Moccasin Creek, is that based off a real creek or does your band's name mean something totally different?

Jeff: There are several actual creek's with this name, and there is also a Moccasin Creek state park. However, the name is derived from an old school honky-tonk from the town I grew up in of Palatka, FL.

7. Does the entire band contribute to the writing process?

Jeff: For the most part, I write all of the lyrics. If another rapper is featured on a song, they write the lyrics. But, as far as everything else, I take care of that. It's by far my favorite part. As to the underlying music, I develop the initial concepts to fit the style of the lyrics and work with the band ti fine tune each song. What we create is just real life, exciting music that speaks true and party's its ass off!

8. Who or what inspired you to become a musician, what is your musical background?

Jeff: Honestly, I didn't even get into music until 6 or 7 years ago. I was doing karaoke with some friends in Florida one night, and started making up my own words to a Beasties song. (Freestyling as they call it) Someone introduced me to a Colt Ford CD that night, and I was hooked. I wanted to do it, so basically, I acted on it. Several long hard years later, we were blessed with the BEST fan base on the planet, great management, a great label, and great support group.

9. What's the story behind the song and video for "Old Glory"?

Jeff: Anyone that follows Moccasin Creek knows that we are huge supporters of our military. I have been extremely lucky to have been asked to be a part of and work hand in hand with several military based foundations. With all of the turmoil in our country right now, and following the tragedy that took place in Chattanooga, we decided to release the song now as opposed to waiting on the album release. The label agreed it was a good idea, so we called up some friends of ours, and spent the day filming to create yet another heartfelt video. The song has so much meaning that we definitely wanted to not only spread it's lyrics but to paint a picture through the video by showing harsh truths to what sacrifices so many Americans have to endure while being a military member. We are very proud of this song and video, and it has garnered great response thus far, and we are giving it away for free as a thank you to the support of the Moccasin Creek family.

10. Speaking of "Old Glory" it of course, being a flag, what is your opinion on the whole Confederate flag craziness?

Jeff: Exactly what you said. CRAZINESS! If someone is taught at an early age that an apple is bad for them, or that a certain car model is better than another, this is the mindset they will have when they get older. I think the same thing can be said about the Confederate flag. Depending on the fashion in which the history of the flag is taught, this will be the opinion people form and it will stick with them forever. Like many, many other people in the North and South, I was taught the Confederate flag was a symbol of the Southern pride and part of our heritage. We were never taught that this flag was a symbol of hate and prejudice. I am from the South, and the glad has always been flown proudly in memory and support of our heritage. In no way, shape or form does Moccasin Creek endorse or support racism or prejudice. We believe in respect, tolerance and the right o live as a free America. To me the confederate flag is simply a sign of the South. Nothing more.

11. Now "Old Glory" is a single, where does this single come from, is it off an upcoming EP or album or just a single on it's own?

Jeff: As mentioned above, it will be featured on our next album which will be here soon! We wanted to release it as soon as possible for the reasons I mentioned. Our Military and Veterans need to know how much we all really appreciate everything they do day in and day out. Without them, there can be no One Nation Under God.

12. Do you have any new music in the works?

Jeff: Always. I'm a work addict as far as the studio goes. I love to write, and do so daily. There are stacks and stacks of notebooks filled with material in my studio. I love doing collaborations with new and upcoming artists and other musicians in the industry. While music wasn't in the forefront of my career options, I am truly blessed to be where I am and love what I do!

13. What are your current tour plans, if any?

Jeff: We are on the road now. We are ALWAYS on the road. We are heading out with a label partner this fall, and our calendar is booked pretty much the rest of the year. Our booking agency is already taking offers and have filled several dates for next year. It's exciting to know we are heading to a bunch of places we've never been. The remainder of 2015 and all of 2016 is going to be even more hectic than it already is. But, that is a good thing!

14. How about any other plans for the rest of this year?

Jeff: Well, other than another video, working on a new album, touring the country, raising a family, and working as much as possible, I don't have time for any other plans. LOL.

15.  Do you have any last words for fans, or potential new fans?

Jeff: Thank you so much for the continued support as well as patience while we put the final polish on this project. It'll be here before you know it. Go to our YouTube page, and watch the "Old Glory" video and get a free down to the song. Without our fans, there'd be NO Moccassin Creek. And that, is 100% factual!!!!

Violent New Breed consisting of Max Green former bassist of Escape The Fate/Falling In Reverse have released a demo version of a new song entitled "Only The Strong Survive". The song was written by Max Green and Mikey Alfero and is a part of the band's upcoming untitled EP due out soon. A statement from Max Green can be read as follows:

"I'm streaming this song as a gift, a gift to anyone and everyone who has ever been through what I've been through, anyone who feels they have nothing left and needs something to help them believe again and give them strength! I dedicate this song to all the fans and friends I've made on my journey that music has taken me on. Every tweet, message, post, ticket and tour means the world to me, and I just want to say thank you for believing, believing in me and giving me the strength to go on when I felt like I might not be able to ever create again! You've helped me to find my inspiration once again, and I'm looking forward to this next chapter in my life and career and I hope you're all as ready as I am because you're all invited. This is an un-mastered track from my new EP that I just couldn't wait any longer to release. My name is Max Green of Violent New Breed and this track is called...'Only The Strong Survive.'"

NEW YEARS DAY will release their third full length studio album, titled Malevolence, on October 2nd. Malevolence was produced by Erik Ron (The Word Alive, Motionless In White) and is the band's first release on Another Century Records. Pre-orders for the album are available now at nydpreorder.com.

Ash Costello (vocals) states, "Malevolence is the most personal album we have ever written to date. More than ever you can really feel the blood and tears in these lyrics. It wasn't an easy process because it was so emotional but what came from it is honest and real. It's therapeutic and angry but still shows vulnerability.

Our producer Erik Ron will always start an album by asking me “what are you feeling right now?" to which I replied "pissed off."  I think anyone that has suffered through loss, betrayal, insecurity and abandonment will absolutely relate to it. For me, it felt so good to get everything I had been bottling up out and hopefully it helps others in the process."

TRACKLISTING:

1. Kill or Be Killed
2. I'm About to Break You
3. Alone
4. Left Inside
5. Relentless
6. Save Myself from Me

Hard rock n' rollers Bridge To Grace have been doing their thing since 2012. Since then they have toured, play showcases, and released material including most recent "Origins" a collection of tracks that captures the true essence of their crafty style and skill set. Lead guitarist/backing vocalist Alex Cabrera discusses this release and future activity.

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

Alex: Christian and I both met at a school of rock program and we basically grew up on stage together. We actually went to record a 5 song EP and our singer quit the day before we went in to record so it was kind of a bad situation. We talked with our producer and he knew David really well and got him to sing on the songs. We loved David's voice and he loved the songs so we stole him from his other band and brought Justin with him.

2. What’s the origin of the band’s name?

Alex: Bridge to Grace is a landmark in Roswell, Georgia, and when I was looking for a name for the band, I thought it sounded cool... Once the current lineup of BTG was formed we talked about the name and decided to keep it, because it now had a new meaning.  The name to us means a lot because we “bridged” together two different styles and sounds of me and Christian to David and Justin. So we came together to really solidify a new sound of Bridge To Grace.

3. Tell us about your thought on the local Atlanta music scene?

Alex: I'm very disappointed to hear about the Masquerade closing in Atlanta. It was always one of my favorite venues to see and play a show. It was also sad to see Project 9-6-1 go down as well. It's been rough lately as a rock band in Atlanta but I know that when a kick ass rock show comes to the city the fans still come out.

4. How would you categorize the style of the band?

Alex: I would say the style of our band is unique because we don't have just one certain style. We have many songs that get heavy but we also like to break it down a little. We try to be very diverse. Our main influences range from Three Days Grace and Sevendust to Silverchair and Soundgarden.

5. What can fans expect with “Origins”?

Alex: You can expect a very diverse album of 17 songs. It has some crazy high energy songs and some darker slower songs. I think it's got something for everybody.  It’s a great showcase for our overall sound as a band.

6. What are your expectations for “Origins”?

Alex: We just hope the fans love it and we can't wait to play the new songs for everybody. We hope they enjoy all the 17 songs, haha!  We know that is a lot to listen to – we’ve been working on this album for more than three years and we’re excited to finally share it with everyone.  It was definitely a labor of love and we really put ourselves into the music.

7. You shot a video for the single “Everything.” Is that a process you enjoy?

Alex: Yeah it was awesome. I definitely think the hours are crazy, as your trying to get a lot done in a short period of time…  But the process is fun.  The location was very cool and our director Jon King really helped us make a great visual representation of the song.

8. What does the next year hold for you and your band?

Alex: The next year will be a strong year for us – we’re working on getting some great tours and we want to be able to stay out on the road nonstop.  We are heading out this week for a short headline run in support of the new album, and then we will be joining Full Devil Jacket in September.  We have some other tours in the works but I can't announce them yet.   We will definitely be touring throughout the rest of the year and into 2016!  We hope our single "Everything" does really well and opens doors for us.

9. Where can our readers find your band on the internet?

Alex: You can find us online at the following links;

Our website is: http://www.bridgetogracemusic.com
Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/BridgeToGrace
Twitter: https://twitter.com/bridge2grace
Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/user/BridgetoGrace

10. What is it you’d like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

Alex: That we are a real band and we’ve put our heart and souls into these songs – we love what we do!    I would say if you love bands like the ones I named before you'll be into ‘Origins”. I really hope it makes you want to see us live because I think we have a great high energy show!

Hell ain’t got a prayer that could stop this tour: Alleluia! The Devil’s Carnival, the sequel to cult-sensation film The Devil’s Carnival, will be featured nightly on its special musical road show tour, stopping in 40 North American cities this summer and fall!

But before we discuss the tour, a bit about the film: Alleluia! The Devil’s Carnival features a thrilling cast full of top horror and classic mainstream film stars, in addition to some of today’s top musical talent in acting roles! Fantasized by the team of celebrated film director Darren Lynn Bousman (Saw II, III, and IV) and writer-actor Terrance Zdunich – who also collaborated on musical cult films Repo! The Genetic Opera (which The Hollywood Reporter embraces as “this generation’s Rocky Horror Picture Show”) and the original The Devil’s Carnival – Alleluia! The Devil’s Carnival stars Zdunich, in addition to actors Paul Sorvino (Goodfellas), David Hasselhoff (Baywatch, Knightrider, Dodgeball), Adam Pascal (RENT), Dayton Callie (Sons of Anarchy, Deadwood), Briana Evigan (Step Up Film Franchise), Barry Bostwick (Rocky Horror Picture Show) and many more. Additionally, chart topping musicians Emilie Autumn, Tech N9ne, Danny Worsnop (We Are Harlot, Ex-Asking Alexandria), Heidi Shepherd and Carla Harvey (Butcher Babies), Ogre (Skinny Puppy), and Jimmy Urine (Mindless Self Indulgence) and more grace the screen in this macabre masterpiece.

In Alleluia! The Devil’s Carnival, Lucifer (Zdunich) incites Heaven’s wrath by dispatching train cars full of condemned souls a-crashin’ through the pearly gates. God (Sorvino), in response, readies his top negotiator, The Agent (Pascal), for a trip down to The Carnival to put an end to the rebellious deeds. Take an insider’s look at the first scene from the film and the opening music sequence “Shovel and Bone”, in addition to three film teasers featuring Tech N9ne, Danny Worsnop, and Heidi Shepherd and Carla Harvey here via Loudwire: http://loudwire.com/alleluia-the-devils-carnival-shovel-and-bone-exclusive-video-premiere/

Now about that tour… Each evening of the Alleluia! Tour will begin with a live, local and little opening act (although these pre-show routines may include dwarves, the word little refers to their running times—think of movie previews with a pulse), followed by an introduction to the evening and film by director Darren Lynn Bousman and writer-actor Terrance Zdunich. A screening of Alleluia! The Devil’s Carnival will follow, which will be concluded by a live audience Q&A session with the above filmmakers, where they will discuss their films and reveal sneak peeks of upcoming projects.

Exclusive Alleluia! merchandise, as well as intimate meet ’n’ greet opportunities with Bousman and Zdunich, are available for purchase at every stop, but tickets and VIP experiences are limited, so pre-orders are recommended. Note: personalized autographs and photo opportunities with the above filmmakers will only be available with VIP ticket packages.

Step right up and get your tickets and VIP packs here!

The first tour date lands in Tucson, AZ on August 26th and runs through mid-August, making its way back to Los Angeles on October 18th. Fans across the pond – don’t fret just yet!  Alleluia! The Devil’s Carnival also has an evil eye aimed at Europe for next year…
