Diamond Lane's Brandon Eagerness to Show What They Got

Showcasing their true fire power and raw energy, hard rock n' rollers Diamond Lane provides a fresh but modern take on the music scene expressing the American hard rock and heavy metal style that enhances that rock vibe from all angles. Frontman vocalist Brandon Baumann discusses the band's plans for their next release and more shows in their eagerness to get back out there and spread the true meaning of music!

1. Please tell us about the history of your band and its members.

Brandon: The origins of Diamond Lane go back to the early 2000’s when Jarret and I met in high school. We bonded over music heavy music, started jamming and knew that we wanted to do something special. We spent the better part of that decade learning the ropes, learning the score and learning to grow to where we desired. The band really took shape in 2009 when we moved to Los Angeles where we started assembling the team and haven’t looked back ever since.

2. Why did you pick the name that you did for your band?

Brandon: Because it’s an awesome name! Really, when you decide to pick a band name you go through trial and error - you throw stuff against the wall and see what sticks. When someone suggested ‘Diamond Lane’, something clicked. It seemed like the obvious choice, because we've always been in our own lane, no stop sings, no speed limits, just hitting the gas and doing sweet burnouts.

3. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

Brandon: The band is based out of Los Angeles and the music scene is thriving and vibrant. There’s an endless amount of new things to see on any given night and a variety of venues to showcase talent. With that being said, LA is still not impervious to the struggles of the music business that we all face in 2014. Some of my favorite bands to see and work with down here are Delta Rose and Fire the Animal.

4. How would you describe your style? Which bands influenced your music?

Brandon: I would say what’s great about Diamond Lane is that we draw our inspirations from a wide range of music, but our hearts and souls are largely rooted in all things hard rock and heavy metal. Our sound incorporates many of the classic elements that make the genre great, and at the same time push forward to carry the torch with something fresh and different than most bands are doing in this current musical landscape. There’s no one specific band that influences DL, but rather a collection of everything we love from Ozzy to Pantera to Metallica, Alice in Chains and beyond.

5. What have you released so far and how were your releases received by the public/media?

Brandon: We released ‘World Without Heroes’ (2011), ‘Sapphire’  (2013), and ‘Terrorizer’ earlier this year in May. The releases were very well received as a whole and often cited as a breath of fresh air. ‘Terrorizer’ has really been picking up steam since its’ release and the videos for ‘The Enemy’ and ‘Cheating Death’ have helped to spread the tunes to new audiences.

6. Do you play live as well? What do you have planned in terms of shows and touring, if any?

Brandon: Absolutely. Playing live is the reward after all the behind the scenes madness. Bringing people together to have a celebration and collectively enjoy some killer tunes? That’s what it’s all about. Life shouldn't be all work, there needs to be some escapism. If we can be a part of that, that’s the dream. We literally just finished a whole seasons run with a killer show in Vegas. And now we are back in the studio to create the future.

7. What should labels/zines/promoters know about your band? Why should they be interested in it?

Brandon: They should be interested because if they’re looking for a fresh take on some American hard rock and heavy metal music, this is the band. We've got incredible players and create from an honest, driven place. There’s no formula.  We aren't chasing some trend. We’re just sharing our voice and contributing to the beautiful beast that is the world of heavy music.

8. What plans do you have for the near future as a band?

Brandon: Like I mentioned, we’re in the studio to cut and release a song before this year’s end. Then we’ll kick the new year off right where we left it and get back into the studio for the next full length and start getting the live circuit dialed in and ready to roll! We’re taking it far and wide and hitting it hard in 2015!

9. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

10. What is it you'd like a listener to remember the most when hearing your music for the first time?

Brandon: I want the listener to remember how good it felt to drink down that tall, ice-cold glass, of refreshing riff madness! I mean what else can I say…. There’s something special about hearing something new that excites you, that turns you on, that gets your engine going, that gets you moving. Isn't that the point? Crank it up!
