Mortal Adullouis's Akey Talks Band's History and Future Plans

Pagan black metal act Mortal Adullouis formed in 2002 and through the years of 2010-2011 they faced line-up changes but eventually came around to find a suitable set of members and would hit the underground scene as much as possible. Now they have an EP and full-length in the works. Guitarist Akey discusses about the new material and plans for the future.

1. What type of band are you guys?

Akey: Our music is a kind of pagan black metal.

2. Who wrote the songs, what are they about?

Akey: We create a character, while lyric tells us more about the elements, of paganism, satanism, darkness.

3. How did the band get it's name?

Akey: Our name mean's to lose it all, that trust, memory, and so on.

4. Can you tell me a brief summary as to how the band came to be and where is the band from?

Akey: We were established in 2002 first named Adullouis, we formed the band because we all shared the same music likes. Too often we'd hang out and meet up then eventually we would form a band that would channel our talents and aspirations. We were influenced by the gothic metal genre by bands like, Sirenia, Unsun, Within Temptation, Therion and so forth.

Initial Line-Up:

Akey (Guitar & Vocals)
Doyok (Rhytm)

Over the years our musical journey would be embarked in the underground scene, several events and compilations would be done outside the city and in our own cities we would devour every one. During the beginning of 2010, we changed our name as well as our genre, because we thought we wanted to replace our sound with a fresh new format. But still we all agreed and it became Mortal Adullouis, still using part of our previous name.

Several of us were busy with other activities so we ended up changing members in mid-2011, we finally had reached a genre and line-up we were all suited on. We would go with black metal. With the power and our new formation, we are ready to dwell in the dark and create new music.

Line-Up :

Adi : Horrible Guttural Vox (Vocal)
Akey : Six String Assaulter (Lead Guitar)
Ajie : Madness String Blasphemer (Rhytm)
Doyox : Backdrop Sickness Megaloblast (Bass)
Idunk : Grinding Blasting Torture (Drums)

MORTAL ADULLOUIS influenced by Slavland, Windir, Aaskereia, Slechtvalk, Kampfar, Draugr, Varg, Khors, Tyr, Belenos, Finntroll, Manegarm and other kinds of black metal bands.

5. Do you write your own songs? What are your songs about?

Akey: The lyrics of the songs are all made of personal experiences, by adjusting the characters of the music, like the themes of our music is about paganism, satanism, anti-religion, and darkness. We are a pagan black metal band.

6. What bands influence you and your sound?

Akey: We're influenced by Slavland, Windir, Aaskereia, Slechtvalk, Kampfar, Draugr, Varg, Khors, Tyr, Belenos, Finntroll, Manegarm and other kinds of black metal bands.

7. Why did you want to title this EP "Battlehymne From The Asgard Throne"? Is this EP a concept release?

Akey: Yes it is a concept EP, we didn't want to run away from what we play. We thought this title fit our EP.

8. Who produced the EP?

Akey: Night Art Production.

9. Where did you record the EP?

Akey: At the Boele Studios.

10. Did the band have any definitive goals they were shooting for before the recording process began for this EP?

Akey: Yes we may be the same as other bands, but we still have a purpose to why we wanted to make this EP. We wanted to have a goal as a band to one day scope out the underground scene, introducing characters and others by the music we play as Mortal Adullouis.

11. Are you using any new instrumentation you've never used in the recording process before?

Akey: There is no extra instrumentals used, we just changed the speed to have more of a character with raw vocal growls.

12. How was the vibe in the studio?

Akey: There was a lot of spirit within our small family we like to call our band.

13. What can the fans expect to see from you in the future?

Akey: Chances are we will pursue a full-length album in 2014. Now that we have the recording process down and a title we have a lot to think about. Also we have ideas we'd like to use because we're a great band and still maintain our solidarity because our fans is our family just like our band.

14. Is that your final answer?

Akey: Yes if nothing else, that is my final answer. Always success for you. Check out my band at these links;
