One of the most hotly tipped metal bands of last year after their face melting performances at SXSW and various US festivals such as Bamboozle, San Antonio’s very own UPON A BURNING BODY will finally be heading to the UK this summer to incite carnage at both Slam Dunk Festival and the might Download Festival at Donington Park. Prepare yourself for a brutal, unrelenting array of unabashed aggression and sheer ferocity that will beat you to oblivion. This is what UPON A BURNING BODY delivers each and every time. The San Antonio based group will also make their much anticipated European touring debut this May alongside The Word Alive, For The Fallen Dreams and I See Stars, which is definitely an event not to be missed.

UABB caught the metal scene by storm with their debut offering, ‘The World Is Ours’, chocked full of crushing Pantera-esque grooves, dynamic riffing and captivating hooks. Their live performance is simply unmatched, which quickly had their name being spread by the masses throughout the scene.

Danny Leal (vocals) states: "Getting offered this tour is a dream! We have always wanted to go to Europe and we have worked so hard for it. Shit, we have never even been on a plane. We know you guys are ready to party just as much as we are so let's make this the party of all party's every night. . We look forward to making new friends and meeting the UABB family holding it down for us over there. Spread the word everyone and we all rage hard very soon."

Their much anticipated new offering, Red, White and Green, was tracked with renowned producer Will Putney (For Today) at The Machine Shop in NJ and shows the band coming into their own unique sound. Expect some new tunes in the live set and prepare to have your face melted and your minds blown!

Hailing from Sheffield in the North of England Black Spiders have taken all of Europe with their shit-kicking AC/DC rawk-meets high energy punk approach. To put it more eloquently as leading UK music pub Kerrang says “this Sheffield based quintet have managed to harness the powers of Angus Young and priapic death punks Turbonegro and distill it into a brew fit for Odin himself”. Now Black Spiders have set their sights on North America as they are announcing the U.S. release of their full-length opus Sons Of The North on April 17th via Dark Riders/Red Eye.

The album is propelled by rowdy chestnuts like “Just Like A Woman” (whose retro-classic metal video featuring appearance by Games Of Thrones actress Esme Bianco got official U.S. premiere today on Noisecreep) as well as adrenaline fueled anthems like “Stay Down” delivering ten tracks of head-banging fury. Black Spiders roster includes a three-guitar attack and is composed of Pete ‘Spider’ Spiby (vocals / guitar), Ozzy ‘Owl’ Lister (guitar), Mark ‘Dark Shark’ Thomas (guitar), Adam ‘the Fox’ Irwin(bass) and Tiger Si (drums).

In a live setting, the band’s stage show is as damaging as their recorded output, as evidenced from their successful stints touring Europe with acts such as Volbeat, Airbourne, Black Stone Cherry, The Supersucker and Monster Magnet. In addition Black Spiders have become a must see artist at big UK festivals such as Sonisphere, Download, High Voltage, Bloodstock and iTunes Festival. The iTunes Festival holds a special place of honor in the band’s early career as they were chosen from over 500 bands by none other than the godfather of metal Ozzy Osbourne himself, to open for him at the festival. Spiby recalls “he told us that he could tell our music came from a real place and that being real would help us to cut through all the bullshit. He said that we should never compromise our sound no matter what anyone says. It was a real shot in the arm for us.” After seeing the Spiders destroy on stage, Osbourne tapped the band one more time for a slot on the UK leg of Ozzfest that year.

Forming in 2008, Black Spiders got their start unfortunately from someone else’s ending. Spiby relates “We were all playing in rock bands separately, then one of our mutual friends died. We held his wake at a pub and paid tribute by getting together to play his favorite tunes. We were doing songs by Motorhead, AC/DC, Black Sabbath, Turbonegro and Queens Of The Stoneage. He had so many musician friends that at some points we had three guitarists on stage and two bassists, we had a blast playing those songs and decided to get together and keep that three guitar sound.” The first songs the band completed included Stay Down, St Peter and Just Like A Woman. All of which appear on Sons Of The North and received a music video treatment for the UK. Prior to Sons Of The North, Black Spiders released two EP’s (Cinco Hombres (Diez Cojones) and No Goats In The Omen) as well as a limited edition single of St. Peter.

A new video is being completed over the next few weeks for the song “Kiss Tried To Kill Me” around the U.S. release. The song is actually inspired by a strange nightmare, about Gene Simmons & co classic line-up in full make-up trying to slay Spiby. “It was a strange dream but it made for a strong visual, Kiss would have been perfect serial killers with an alibi as a touring rock band during the 70’s, disposing of victims on each tour stop.” Stranger still perhaps is the actual Kiss and their fans approval of the track as Paul Stanley mentioned the song while guest-editing UK’s Classic Rock Magazine and the song being posted on the official Kiss Army Website. The invasion has begun.

Talking of love, loss, hate, heartache, and relationship issues this sob story that is L.A.'s Dead Sara has been hard at work writing and recording for their full-length album. With that the band will also be performing in a handful of shows between now and the rest of the year will really get the word out.

1. So why the name Dead Sara and does the name "Sara" refer to somebody?

Emily: No. Well, maybe...not anybody I know of personally. It's from a Fleetwood Mac song "Sara" and in it she says "...said Sara", or "...dead Sara", and Sioux and I thought that it sounded cool. It was also the only name we could both agree on.

2. Do you write your own songs and what are they about?

Emily: Yes and most of what you will hear on this record is about heartache, loss and longing, love hate relationship with LA, hope, and sticking up for yourself.

3. Who are your musical influences?

Emily: It changes from time to time but I seem to always fall back into the heart and soul of the 60's and 70's. I could never escape that. That was the music that changed my life - it opened my eyes to the world as a musician and a performer.

4. How do you describe your music to people?

Emily: Raw, rock, with some folk but could get heavy at times...

5. Why don't you describe the making of self-titled debut album from writing and pre-production to the recording?

Emily: After we had talked Sean into helping us out as a drummer, Chris being a mutual friend said he would help us out too on bass but is a guitar player first and foremost and never played bass in a band before. Our first rehearsal we started writing "Weatherman" and from that we continued writing every night we got together. Not too long after that and a handful of shows, we asked our friend Noah Shain to produce. Then into pre-production, we had a tight schedule from 9am to early evening and before we knew it we were on our way to record at Sonic Ranch in Texas for about 11 days. Then back home to L.A. we did over-dubs and vocals at Noah's studio in Hollywood.

6. Its being released on the band's own label, Pocket Kid Records via Universal/Fontana, how did you make your own label and why did you want to release your album this way?

Emily: It’s funny, growing up it was a big deal and important to sign with a major label, get a huge record deal - or at least from the books and magazines I read from artists in their time. Then fast forward to the World Wide Web and the DIY age, it’s not really like that anymore for the most part. You can do it on your own and still get somewhere with the right people. It's actually really exciting and knowing that everything we create comes from us and goes straight to our fans - there is no via, and that is important to us. And we believe we found the right group of people for its release.

7. You worked with producer Noah Shain, have you worked with him before?

Emily: Sioux and I had not but Sean and Chris have on previous projects.

8. When you recorded did you all use your own gear?

Emily: Yes and more. Most studios everywhere have a plethora of amazing gear especially vintage equipment as Sonic Ranch did have, it's hard not to try it all...like kids in a candy shop.

9. How much time did you spend in the studio?

Emily: That’s kind of hard thing to remember as you kinda forget about time in those moments, as a full band maybe a month? Vocals I did after that and took my time...finishing up lyrics really. I didn't want to force anything by any means. And Noah really supported that, understanding where we were coming from with this record.

10. Your first single is called “Weatherman”, why did you want this song to be the first out of all the others available?

Emily: You know that song was an option among a couple others off the record, but it wasn't until Mike Karolyi from WCCC in Hartford, CT started playing it and got a great reaction from his listeners. So, he basically chose the single for us and we are happy with that. Thanks again, Mike!

11. You played some shows last month but do you plan on doing anymore shows or a tour?

Emily: Yes. We have a couple shows here in L.A. before heading to SXSW again, then a spring tour (TBA) and of course playing the full Vans Warped Tour this summer as one of the feature bands.

12. Are there any other things you'd like to add or say?

Emily: For more info, announcements, and tour dates in your city and such you can go to our website. Of course Facebook applies too, Dead Sara [Official]. We will be out and about this year!

I, The Breather now that's another band that has crossed my mind but has yet to hit my ear drums but the time is now. As many I, The Breather is yet another band that has struck the metalcore scene with its own musical trait that manages to develop its own formula on its own accord.

On their latest release "Truth And Purpose", the second album to be released is entertaining and energized to say the least. Having such songs as "False Prophet", "Meaning", and "Judgment", all provide an inside look into the drumming and guitarist's abilities to indicate their riffing skills being able to go back and forth having various chugs and harmonies enter in and out. But if it wasn't for frontman vocalist Shawn he bellows out a well scattered sense of emotion and skills that just amaze the listener.

I, The Breather has made an impressive release surely having these guys be that next big thing to engulf us in the already developed metalcore scene with just their headstrong abilities alone.

Ottawa’s grindmanglers FUCK THE FACTS have confirmed an extensive European headlining tour in support of their latest LP, Die Miserable, released in October via Relapse Records and has been receiving critical acclaim since.

Guitarist Topon Dos commented on the upcoming run: "It's been a couple of years since we've last been to Europe, so we're excited not only to finally get back over there, but to also have the opportunity to play some countries like Finland and Hungary for the first time. We've been ripping through a bunch of songs from our new album Die Miserable recently, so you can expect to hear a lot of newer tunes. See you soon!"

Additionally, the band was recently nominated for Canada ’s prestigious 2012 Juno Awards in the Metal/Hard Music Album of the Year category and Sirius XM’s Indies Metal Artist/Group of the Year category. More info on the Juno awards is available HERE while voting for the Sirius XM awards can be accessed HERE.

Having seen the name and heard the name countless times before Veil Of Maya have gone on to release their latest efforts "Eclipse" which believe or not offers a more better job than 2010's "[id]".

With that said quality is done quite well having done things that they have used before but upgraded it if you will having it sound ten times better than when it was first done. For instance "Winter Is Coming Soon" has a solid ground built in and really keeps the listener zoned into the melody and mad driven riffs used throughout. Whereas “Vicious Circles”, and “Punisher”, throw the listener off just a tad but having the music be a bit toned down having the guitars and drums be more mellower and developed having a stronger sense and flow to the music.

One thing noticed about this release is how quickly you begin it; it immediately ends having it be even shorter than the other releases that these guys have pushed out. "Eclipse" is a massive amount of energy and a strong skilled piece of work that keeps the music maintained and thorough.

The Fearless Vampire Killers have been hard at work touring, writing, and recording for their debut LP "Militia of the Lost", being released May 7th. This will mark the first ever full-length debut for the horror pop punks since the first two previous releases were EPs "In Grandomina..." and "The Blood Never Dries".

Not only has the album title and release date been revealed but the album artwork has been posted via the band's Facebook page where you can engulf all but more news regarding their musical lives as it were.

Daybreak Ends have been hard at work writing and recording as well as performing shows since their 2009 EP release "The Self Unseen". Now it's time for a follow-up to their 2007 debut "Perfect Tragedy", called "A Second Chance to Fail" which is expected to be released soon. But for now the album artwork done by Quinne Larsen has been revealed and can be seen below.

West Coast death metal pioneer, Autopsy, will release its 22-track collection of re-mastered classics and rarities, All Tomorrow’s Funerals, tomorrow on Peaceville Records. The band has teamed up with Pitchfork.com to stream “Mauled To Death,” a vintage Autopsy track that will finally surface from the tomb as part of this monstrous album.

“’Mauled to Death’ is the last song from the early days that never got a proper album treatment, since it was only recorded on a 1987 demo,” said Autopsy drummer/vocalist, Chris Reifert, in a chat with Pitchfork. “Now it's got the double guitar laceration attack (the original version was from before [guitarist] Danny [Coralles] joined the band), as well as some added atmospheric guitar ugliness.”

Check it out HERE!

FEAR FACTORY today confirms their first tour dates for 2012. Set to begin in San Antonio on May 1, the tour’s initial dates include stops in Dallas, Philadelphia, New York City, Baltimore, and Denver among others. Joining FEAR FACTORY for the tour is Boston’s Shadows Fall, Kansas City-based The Browning, Riverside, California’s The Devastated, and Legacy Of Disorder from New Zealand. The tour will precede the release of FEAR FACTORY’s new album titled The Industrialist.

FEAR FACTORY recently announced the addition of bass player Matt DeVries. The Ohio native previously noted, “I have been asked to join one of my favorite bands. I have been a fan of FEAR FACTORY since 1992 and I could not be more excited to be part of this incredible band.” Guitarist Dino Cazares and vocalist Burton C. Bell noted, “we are very excited to have Matt playing bass for FEAR FACTORY. We feel he is a great addition to our touring line-up. He has been a friend for a very long time and he is a great musician who will be a perfect instrument in the FF machine.”

With rehearsals for the tour expected to start soon, the members of FEAR FACTORY are finishing details on their forthcoming new album expected for release early summer. Greg Reely has now completed the album’s mix. All that remains is final artwork and packaging. Regarding the new material, Cazares and Bell affirm, “this album perfectly captures the true nature of FEAR FACTORY. The industrial/metal blend is a strong return to our original concept for FEAR FACTORY."

The Industrialist follows 2010’s critically acclaimed Mechanize. Blabbermouth said, “this is the album fans have been waiting for…a fiery and evolved rebirth of the band that changed metal in the ’90s.” Revolver Magazine called Mechanize, “one of the best albums of the band’s career. Its combination of new-wave melody, rapid-fire aggression, and electronic ambiance sounds as fresh today as FEAR FACTORY did nearly 20 years ago. Call it the soul of their new machine.” Decibel Magazine noted, “FEAR FACTORY are back and beyond intact.”

Denver, Colorado's thrash metallers Havok have seen the light and since forming in 2004 they have released a handful of material their most recent being "Time Is Up" and now have an all new EP "The Point Of No Return" coming up. So how do the two differ and what else has Havok have in store? Frontman vocalist and guitarist David Sanchez caught up with me to discuss these matters and just what else his band has been up to while being a part of the Forward Into Battle Tour.

1. Can you give me a brief summary of how the band got its start?

David: uh the brief summary would be I met a drummer in high school who knew how to play a lot of Metallica songs and I knew a lot of those songs as well so we just started jamming. Then we found a guitar player and bass player that filled out the line-up and began to write music. That’s basically how the band started was to jamming out Metallica songs.(Laughs)

2. You released your second album "Time Is Up" last year and now you have an EP coming up. How do the two differ?

David: ummm I would the biggest difference is the temp because on Time Is Up it’s fast all the way through and this one has sludgeier and heavier riffs, not so much over the top speed.

3. The EP is called "The Point of No Return" what can you tell me about it?

David: uhmm the title is basically us at our point of our career and it is the point of no return and it’s always been a sink or swim thing and always will be but we’re on the tipping point of going somewhere with this. (Laughs)

4. You got a video for the song "D.O.A." which was done really well how did you get all of the effects done?

David: I think they just got it all and brightened up the green and just sucked out all of the other colors so it just looks cool.

5. When it comes to writing a song where has been the weirdest place that you've written a song or come up with an idea for a song?

David: Most of the ideas come to me when I’m either taking a shower or taking a shit. That’s mostly where all my lyrical songs come is from showering or shitting.

6. Every band sells merch from t-shirts to hoodies. But how many band t-shirts or shirts are in your personal collection?

David: Oh my god! I have like boxes in storage in stuff I would have to say about 200-300 shirts packed away somewhere.

7. If your favorite band sold a t-shirt in pink would you buy it and wear it?

David: If they had a black version I would rather have that instead.

8. If you had the chance to have a headbanging contest with one of the members of your band who would you pick and who would be victorious?

David: A headbanging contest hmmm if I were to have a contest it would have to be with Reece he does all of the windmilling headbanging and I’m not good at that. So if we were going to go on style then he’d be the winner.

9. What is your favorite headbanging style to do and why?

David: What feels good it’s all about just feeling it out, you don’t think about it, it just happens.

10. Have you ever done an interview where you killed the interviewer afterwards?

David: Not yet.(Laughs)

SLASH has released “You’re A Lie” to radio today worldwide. The hard-charging song marks the first single off the iconic, Grammy-winning rock guitarist and songwriter's forthcoming second studio album APOCALYPTIC LOVE. Listen to a 30 second preview of the song HERE.

"You're A Lie" is the second song I brought to the band in 2011 during the last tour,” explains SLASH. “We worked on it at soundcheck somewhere, I can't remember where. It's gone through some minor changes along the way, mainly the chorus. But for the most part, it's remained true to its original arrangement. I can't wait to play this live."

More video footage from CANNIBAL CORPSE's Torture studio sessions is currently viewable at their official landing page. The near-ten minute long segment documents some of the guitar solo and vocal tracking and includes a candid glimpse of vocalist Corpsegrinder’s method for loosening his vocal cords during the lengthy recording sessions at Mana Recording Studio in St. Petersburg, Florida.

The band's twelfth offering of audio molestation will be available to North American fans on March 13, 2012 via Metal Blade Records. In an 9/10 review of the record, Decibel Magazine proclaims: "As always, the band's musicianship is downright inspiring. And their songwriting has never been better." Zero Tolerance crowned the record "pure death metal mastery from one of the best bands the genre has ever produced," while Metal Army America adds: "The masters have turned in effort that will puzzled over, studied and followed forever."

Torture was produced by Hate Eternal's Erik Rutan at his own Mana Recording Studio in St. Petersburg, Florida as well as Sonic Ranch in Tornillo, Texas.

Check out the new studio footage HERE.

Death metal goliaths JOB FOR A COWBOY will unleash their brand new studio recording entitled Demonocracy this Spring. Set for North American release on April 10, 2012 via Metal Blade Records, the nine-track Demonocracy was produced by Jason Seucof (Black Dahlia Murder, Whitechapel, Trivium), who recorded the band's blistering Ruination full-length, at Audiohammer Studios and features another strikingly detailed concept cover by artist Brent Elliott White.

Returning with an odd ball lineup, the nine-track Demonocracy seethes with unbridled vulgarity and potent disgust. Over their long existence the quintet have built a yearning fan base through their devotion to touring and a diehard commitment to creating relentlessly hostile and involving music, and in 2012 JOB FOR A COWBOY have never sounded hungrier.

Commented the band in a collective statement: "However ruthless an age may actually have been, it's style transmits it's music only."

Check out the bludgeoning new single, "Nourishment Through Bloodshed," as well as cover art and behind-the-scenes studio footage at the band's OFFICIAL LANDING PAGE.

TRACKLISTING:

01. Children of Deceit
02. Nourishment Through Bloodshed
03. Imperium Wolves
04. Tongueless and Bound
05. Black Discharge
06. The Manipulation Stream
07. The Deity Misconception
08. Fearmonger
09. Tarnished Gluttony

With the critical praise and fan adoration bestowed upon 2009's Ruination, it would have been easy for the band to rest upon their proverbial laurels and serve up Ruination Part II. But from the moment Demonocracy roars to life it is wholly evident that this is a far more musically accomplished beast that takes their signature sound to the next level. From the abrasive blast of opener "Children Of Deceit" to the disconcerting strains of "The Deity Misconception" or the brooding, heart wrenching closer "Tarnished Gluttony". A record drenched in equal parts misanthropy and naked rage, and from start to finish they suspend the listener by the throat.

A key factor in this progression was the change in the band's ranks, which finds vocalist Jonny Davy, drummer Jon "Charn" Rice, and guitarist Al Glassman joined by guitarist Tony Sannicandro, who met Al when he was a session guitarist for Despised Icon and filled the slot vacated by Thompson. In addition, Cephalic Carnage bassist Nick Schendzielos replaces Brent Riggs. Having initially brought Sannicandro and Schendzielos on as touring musicians, the members immediately gelled, and first wrote together on 2011's Gloom EP, sealing the deal and securing their places as full-fledged members of the band.

Guitarist Tony Sannicandro believes he made a very natural addition into the band's ranks, and he's proud to bring his intricate style to JOB FOR A COWBOY's instantly recognizable sound. "I think I bring more of an old school guitar approach to the band. Obviously before the band got me there wasn't a lot of lead work. On the new album has a solo on every song. I think I've done the best work of my life on there," he states. Equally, no one can doubt Schendzielos' musical pedigree and formidable skills, and the bassist is looking to really make a mark through his work with the band. "It's really invigorating that the cats in JFAC are into my style because there is such a great expanse of uncharted territory for bass in metal," he states. "Cephalic is notorious for our chaotic and vigorous live performances alongside an expansive and dilatant range of metal stylings. I'm bringing all that experience with me and combining it with the talents of these splendid men to make my best bass work to date."
