September 2011

This fall the North American metal community is about to discover just how truly progressive, epic and crushing a touring package can be. One of Sumerian Records' flagship artists, BORN OF OSIRIS, have put together an absolutely devastating line-up for their first headlining run in support of their latest album, The Discovery.

Joining BORN OF OSIRIS on this run will be Veil of Maya, Carnifex, Struc/tures and France's Betraying The Martyrs (performing in the U.S. for the very first time). This highly anticipated trek is set to run between Nov. 18th and Dec. 18th. Either see below for initial dates or stay tuned to www.facebook.com/bornofosiris for additional information and tourdates as they become available over the coming weeks. The next batch of dates will be announced on Oct. 6th.

Lee McKinney (guitars) states: “We couldn't be more excited about 'The Discovery' headlining U.S. tour. We are going to be back in the U.S. with our good friends Veil of Maya for the first time in years. Not only are they an incredible band, they are some of our closest friends from Chicago. Also on the tour is Carnifex. They are a really heavy band and we can't wait to see what they are all about. Struc/tures and Betraying the Martyrs will be opening up the tour. These are some of Sumerian's best new bands. Struc/tures is a great progressive metal band that also has a new album coming out just before the tour on October 24th. Betraying the Martyrs has a new album out and this tour also marks their first U.S. tour to date. We are beyond stoked to be able to present you with a package you haven't seen a different version of ten times! All the bands are fresh and have new music. We'll also be playing our longest set yet. Don't miss it!”

Monster High's Facebook page has posted the buzz about newest ghoul Operetta and by the looks of it she is hard to miss. Her rockabilly style and hotrod red hair. Her dad is the Phantom of the Opera, so you know she’s inherited some mad musical skills. Just be careful if you hear her sing live. There’s something about her voice that really drives monsters insane! Only being sixteen of age, she’s already a bit of a perfectionist and absolutely hates being told what to do.

Operetta and Memphis Daddy O Longlegs
Oh, keep an eye out for Memphis “Daddy O” Longlegs (he’s her pet spider). He’s unlike anything you've ever seen.

Los Angeles-based band THE DREAMING, which features former members of STABBING WESTWARD, MURDERDOLLS and LIVING DEAD LIGHTS, has inked a deal with Epochal Artists Records. The group's new album, "Puppet", will be released on November 1. A single, "Every Trace", is impacting radio now and already lighting up phone lines on stations like KUPD in Phoenix, KXXR in Minneapolis, WIIL in Chicago and WAQX in Syracuse.

Formed in 2005 by frontman Christopher Hall, the voice behind platinum rock outfit STABBING WESTWARD, THE DREAMING assembles and all-star roster of musicians including Johnny Haro on drums (ex-ECONOLINE CRUSH, STABBING WESTWARD), guitarist Eric Griffin (ex-MURDERDOLLS, WEDNESDAY 13), and bassist Martin Kelly (ex-LIVING DEAD LIGHTS). Since its inception, THE DREAMING has toured relentlessly with the likes of ILL NINO, GODHEAD, RA, TRUST COMPANY, FLAW, JULIEN-K, POWERMAN 5000 and WEDNESDAY 13.

"After the death of STABBING WESTWARD, Johnny and I immediately put all our heart and soul into THE DREAMING. We spent a lot of time working on our songs and live show in hopes that we would find the right team to get behind this band. After several years bouncing between managers and potential labels, we found a proper home with Epochal Artists Records," commented Christopher Hall. "Epochal Artists Records understood what we were trying to do, they believe in our music and they are ready to work our album for the long haul. I am so proud to be the first release on E.A.R. and so excited to be releasing 'Puppet' with them at the helm."

COAL CHAMBER, the '90s alt-metal band fronted by current DEVILDRIVER singer Dez Fafara, will reform for next year's Soundwave festival in Australia.

Commented Dez: "COAL CHAMBER is playing Soundwave Down Under! These reunion shows are for the fans that want to see us again as well as all the people that never got to see COAL CHAMBER. It is and always will be a very special part of my life, so these few shows are for those people and for us. If you're not from Australia, better get a ticket now to come see this event!"

Added guitarist Miguel "Meegs" Rascón: "Australia has never seen us, nor have we seen them. It will be an extraordinary exchange of energy and adrenaline.

"Hello Aussies, nice to meet you!"

He continued, "This reunion will mark a decade since we last played together, so staring at my brothers on stage face to face will be an emotional rollercoaster for me. Tears of joy would be an understatement, to say the least. You know, all of us have gone through our separate journeys in life, but we're coming back to rekindle this and throw the past in the past and put the future in our hands."

Stated drummer Mike Cox: "Of all the great achievements COAL CHAMBER made in the past, getting back together after all we've been through will be the greatest achievement to date."

Concluded Dez: "We've all grown up and put the personal past behind us now and are moving forward with these few shows in a spirit of friendship through music. You must remember where you came from in order to know where you are going."

The official lyric video for "Dead But Dreaming", a brand new song from the San Diego-based deathcore band CARNIFEX, can be seen below. The track comes off the group's new album, "Until I Feel Nothing", which will be released on October 25 via Victory Records. Produced by Tim Lambesis (AS I LAY DYING), the follow-up to 2010's "Hell Chose Me" "captures an in-your-face extremity that drips with malice and ferocity, solidifying the effort as the most anticipated album of the year," according to a press release. The cover artwork was created by famed comic book illustrator Menton3 (Silent Hill, Monocyte) and can be seen below.

During the writing process for the new CD, CARNIFEX "aimed to redefine their extreme sound, resulting in their most brutal album to date. The dark, blasphemous approach to 'Until I Feel Nothing' results in an abrasive record, complete with blood-curdling screams and razor-sharp guitar riffs — the kind only CARNIFEX is able to flawlessly deliver."

Arizona extreme metallers JOB FOR A COWBOY have entered Audiohammer Studios in Sanford, Florida to begin recording their next album for an early 2012 release via Metal Blade Records. The band is once again working with producer Jason Suecof (TRIVIUM, CHIMAIRA, DEVILDRIVER), who helmed the group's latest EP, "Gloom". "Gloom" was released on June 7 via Metal Blade Records. The CD features the first new music from JOB FOR A COWBOY since 2009's "Ruination" LP, which landed at position No. 42 on The Billboard 200 chart.

L.A.’s Warbringer have seen the light! With their third full-length “Worlds Torn Asunder”, you get delivered with an aggressive bliss….

“Living Weapon”, “Shattered Glass”, “Wake up….Destroy”, “Savagery”, just really delivers that thrash metal vibe. The snarling vocals, rip roaring riffs, stunning solo work is all done superbly well. The temp portions manage to even give a great use of talent when their changes commence every now and then.

Warbringer's accomplishments have gotten them so far in their career it’s just a matter of time until they have reined above all the others.

Legendary punkers Strike Anywhere are about to embark on a US/Canadian tour with A Wilhelm Scream, Dead To Me, The Copyrights and others on select dates!  Check out the band on the road as they play songs off of their most recent effort, Iron Front. While continuing to bring the melodic hardcore that’s made the band a standard bearer for fans, they brought a noisier sound along with more traditional hardcore leanings. Not ones to settle, the band keeps making records that stand the test of time.

Lacuna Coil has just announced they they'll be releasing their sixth studio album, 'Dark Adrenaline,' on January 24, 2012.

The album was produced by Don Gilmore (Linkin Park, Bullet for My Valentine) and its first single, 'Trip the Darkness,' will impact at Active Rock radio next month. Lacuna Coil will tour in North America in support of 'Dark Adrenaline' around the album's release; look for a big tour announcement in the coming weeks.

Lacuna Coil's sultry co-vocalist Cristina Scabbia commented, "As some of you know, the release for 'Dark Adrenaline' was postponed a bit... and this made me even more nervous because I had to wait even more to spit it out! I am so thrilled I can finally say something about this album - ha! I simply love it. I feel this is the best work we have ever done, and it absolutely captures the essence of who we are. The atmosphere of the record will make a lot of old-school fans very happy, and the newer fans will enjoy the vibrant energy and the dark blood running through the songs. I really believe the 'Dark Adrenaline' will wake you up. Ladies and gentlemen, get ready to enjoy the trip!"
